Compliance with Federal Oil and Gas Operating Regulations. 2. Changes in the approved program must receive prior approval of the Regional Oil & Gas Supervisor. 3. Oil or gas zones either previously productive or correlated with productive zones must be protected by adequate cement plugs. 4. That portion of the hole not occupied by cement plugs shall be filled with heavy mud fluid. The top of the hole shall not be closed until the Supervisor has been given an opportunity to inspect it. 5. Abandoned wells shall be marked with permanent markers consisting of a pipe not less than 4 inches in diameter and not less than 10 feet in length, of which,4 feet shall be above the general ground level and the remainder embedded in concrete. The top of the pipe shall be closed with a cap or cement plug and the marker should show in a permanent manner the name of operator, well number anq location. 6. Equi~ùent and valuable material shall be removed from the well site or dismantled and arranged in an orderly manner; junk and debris shall be removed or destroyed; pits and cellars shall be filled and leveled and the well site, including sumps, shall be placed in a clean and orderly condition. 7. The hole should be converted to a fresh water well if possible and practical. 8. A subsequent Report of Abandonment, Form 9-33la, g~v~ng a detailed account of all abandonment work performed, including location of cement plugs, casing pulled, casing left in the well, date of placing surface plug or cap, shall be filed in triplicate, within fifteen days afteL completion of the work and the Supervisor shall be notified when the well site has been cleaned up and is ready for inspection. Kaliakh River Unit Area, Alaska '-----.-.,.-..--- After reading several accounts of running pipe in Kaliakh Well No.1, and other rt11JJors that oil had been discovered, I called Mr. McPhillips of the Richfield Oil Corporation for the actual facts on the case, and he reported as follm.¡s: The pipe was run for protection in order to make tests of certain areas which indicated pos~ibilities on the electric log. A test was made last night of the interval from the bottom of the casing, 13,421-14P99 feet; 2-inch tubing was run with 8000 f~e~óf water cushion and the bean was opened for 24 hr&, and at the end of that period the well flowed 19 barrels of water in 3 hours. They then swabbed the well and found that the fluid entering the hole was salt water with some bubbles of gas. They now plan to come back up the hole and perforate and test certain zones that have some indications of production on the electric log. It is not yet - decided whether they will drill deeper in this well at this time or move over to Well No.2, and if conditions warrant move back to Well No.1. ...
