As per our earlier telephone conversation, it is requested that the USGS retain the above data as cOnfidential. Standard Oil Company of California has been the only lessor of record for the lease upon which this well was drilled from the time of actual drilling. Weber, USGS, Alaskan Geology Branch, College, Alaska, Geologist, Acting-in-charge, dated October 23, 1962, which states that certain information from the well will remain strictly confi- dential within the USGS. The letter further states that the USGS has never released information on privately drilled wells in any area without first obtaining written permission from the company involved. This includes call by Bill McFadden on Geophysical information and base maps and a call by!A1 Wanek to Chuck Kirschner, and requests by Bill Wunnicke and the undersigned of Lee Post for well data on the Riou Bay No. 1 on Lease Anchorage 023588. Mr. Silcox asked that we channel all such requests directly to him in the fÚture. He further indicated that the information of the Riou Bay well would be forwarded as soon as possible and that they may allow reproduction of base maps at our expense. I told him we would try do as he asked and that I would pass on this request to the Regional Geologist along with the information on the base maps. I also instructed him to specify what well information they believed to be especially sensitive and why and that we normally release well information on terminated leases but we could give all possible consideration to their request as provided in the applicable laws and regulations. c........ -..,...--- "" I ! Compliance with Federal Oil and Gas Operating Regulations. 2. The date actual drilling is started shall be reported promptly to the Regional Oil & Gas Supervisor. 3. Any change in the approved program must receive prior approval of the Regional Oil & Gas Supervisor. 4.
