The permit has been marked expired in the well history file and in the AOGCC database. Huey Winston Statistical Technician Alaska oil and Gas Conservation Commission hugh.winstop_@alaska•gov 907-793-1241 PBU F-481_1 (PTD 219-068), PBU F-48L1-01 (PTD 219-069), PBU F-48A (PTD 219-100) and PBU F-48AL1 (PTD 219-101) Note to File Well Names, Permit to Drill Numbers, and API Numbers Summary In April 2019, BP submitted Permit to Drill applications for two proposed well branches-PBU F-481_1 and PBU F-481-1-01-to be drilled from the primary well PBU F-48. BP's intent was to drill L1 to a depth of 15,074' MD, set a whipstock, and then drill 1-1-01. In May 2019, AOGCC approved these applications. On July 2, 2019, BP spud the F-48L1 well branch and drilled to 12,970' MD. Subsequent problems with the casing window, wellbore instability, lost -then -recovered pipe, and down -hole bridges resulted loss of this section of hole. A second whipstock was set and cemented at 12,465' MD, isolating primary well F-48. This isolation required the name of new planned borehole be changed from F-481_1 to F-48A and the name of the second planned well branch to be changed from F-48L1-01 to F-48AL1. To minimize confusion from this name change, AOGCC requested BP submit two new Permit to Drill applications for F-48A and F-48AL1. These applications were approved by AOGCC on July 17, 2021. For clarity of record, all drilling operations previously conducted under F-48L1 (beginning with the lost section of wellbore that was spud July 2, 2019) were reassigned to F-48A. The lost section of hole drilled to 12,970' MD is now named F-48A PB1. On July 17,2021, the F-48A wellbore was spud and drilled to a total depth of 13,000' MD. Problems were again encountered, and the well was placed in operations shutdown status. On July 17, 2020, AOGCC extended this status through July 30, 2021. On May 14, 2021, AOGCC granted Hilcorp's (BP's successor as operator) request to end operations shutdown and place the well on production. Details In April 2019, BP submitted Permit to Drill applications for two proposed well branches to be drilled from the primary well PBU F-48. In May 2019, AOGCC issued two Permits to Drill for PBU F-48A L1 (PTD 219- 068, API 50-029-22187-60-00) and PBU F-48A L1-01 (PTD 219-069, API 50-029-22187-61-00). BP's intent was to drill L1 to a depth of 15,074' MD, set a whipstock, and then drill L1-01. On July 1, 2019, BP set a whipstock at 12,496' MD and milled a window through the casing string. On July 2, 2019, BP began drilling the L1 well branch, reaching a total depth of 12,970' MD that same day. Following a wiper trip into casing, the drilling bit and string encountered problems while attempting to pass downward through the casing window. After further milling (dressing) of the window, the operator was unable to get the drill bit below 12,900' MD. Following a wiper trip, the drill string was eased down from 12,890' and reamed back to bottom. After 5 feet of drilling, it appeared as new hole was being drilled. Two subsequent wiper trips were made to the casing window, then the hole began packing off at about 12,350' MD. The operator was able to move pipe to 12,460' MD, then during the evening of July 4' the pipe became stuck. On July 7th, the operator rigged up to recover the stuck pipe. On July 9th, the coiled tubing drill string was cut at 12,233' MD. On July 111h, a new reel of coiled tubing was installed, a milling BHA was run in hole, and the top of the lost tubing was dressed. A fishing assembly was rigged up on July 12th, the operator latched onto the fish and began jarring. On July 13, the lost drill string was recovered. The hole was cleaned out to 12,455' MD where a hard bridge was encountered. Unsuccessful attempts were made to ram through the bridge, then the hole was cleaned out to 12,498' MD. On July 15th, a second whipstock was set and cemented at 12,465' MD. Because of drilling problems, BP's proposed operations were changed, requiring either revised or new Permit to Drill applications for AOGCC approval. For clarity of record, at AOGCC's request on July 15th BP submitted two new Permit to drill applications: the wellbore formerly known as F-481-1 was renamed F- 48A because the second whipstock at 12,465' MD was cemented, which eliminated communication with the primary wellbore F-48. To minimize confusion, the Permits to Drill for F-481-1 (PTD 219-068, API 50-029-22187-60-00) and PBU F- 48 L1-01 (PTD 219-069, API 50-029-22187-61-00) were cancelled, and two new applications were submitted for F-48A (PTD 219-100, API 50-029-22187-01-00) and F-48AL1 (PTD 219-101, API 50-029- 22187-62). All operations previously conducted in the wellbore formerly known as F-48L1 were reassigned to F-48A (PTD 219-100). Because the section of wellbore drilled to 12,790' MD was lost, this lost section is now labeled F-48A PB1, and all information from that lost section are recorded under Permit to Drill number 219-100 and labeled with the API Number of 50-029-22187-70-00. On July 17th, the F-48A wellbore was spud and drilled to a total depth of 13,000' MD. Problems were again encountered at the window and with bridges in the wellbore. On July 21, 2019 operations ceased in F-48A and the well was placed in operations shutdown status. On July 17, 2020, AOGCC extended the operations shutdown status through July 30, 2021. On May 14, 2021, AOGCC granted Hilcorp's (BP's successor as operator) request to end operations shutdown and place the well on production. S. The parent well, F-48, has no remaining value and there are no good opportunities to add new perforations to improve well performance. Proposed plan: Drill a through tubing sidetrack with the CDR 2 coil tubing drilling rig on or around July 16th, 2019. CDR 2 will set a whipstock and downsqueeze cement into the F-48 perforations and F-48APB1, then mill a 3.80" window through the 7" casing and drill the F-48A Sag lateral. CDR2 will then run slotted liner and set a billet at —12647' MD. The rig will then drill F-48A L1, a second lateral, and complete with a slotted liner tied back into the F- 48A parent bore.
