The Pan American Petroleum Corporation submitted a request dated June 6, 1966, for an exception to Section 2061.1 of the Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Regulations, Title II, AAC. 2. Notice of hearing was published in the Anchorage Daily News on June 27, 1966. 3. Personal service of the notice of hearing was made to all affected parties except Sinclair Oil and Gas Company. A waiver of personal service was obtained from Sinclair Oil and Gas Company. 4. A hearing was held in the City Council Chambers of the Z. J. Loussac Library, Anchorage, Alaska, on July 12, 1966, commencing at 9:30 a.m. S. Testimony in support of the application was given by Pan American Petroleum Corporation and objection to the application was presented by Shell Oil Company. RULE 2 Spacing Acreage - No more than one oil completion in a pool as designated in Rule 3 shall be allowed in each governmental quarter section or governmental lot corresponding thereto. RULE 3 Pool Designation - Until ordered otherwise, the vertical producing, intervals shall be divided into seven (7) pools which will aarralato with the following intervalo in the Pan American Petroleum Corporation State 17S9S #4 well. Oct.. 15,_ 1965. - A new wildcat discovery wall which tested for more than .~/~DO barrels of oil per day in Alaska's Cook Inlet was announced today by Pan American Petroleum Corp. and its partners. The well, ~tiddle Ground Shoal.State 18746 No. 1, is located some 72 miles southwest of Anchorage and establishes the southernmost production in the waters of Cook Inlet. Pan American Petroleum operates the well for itself and Phillips Petroleum Co., Sinclair Oil & Gas Co. and Skelly Oil Co. Each company has a 25 percent interest in the well and the 3,200-acre state tract on which it is located. Pan American Petroleum is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Standard Oil Co,I (Indiana), responsible for oil and gas exploration and production in North America. The new discovery is seven miles south of the location at which'Pan Am and partners are currently completing a permanent all-weather platform on the site of Middle Ground Shoal No. 4. The latter well, completed a year ago, tested eight separate zones for an average of more than 650 barrels daily from each zone. Pan Am said it expects to begin drilling from the permanent platform early in November. Also getting underway is a project to lay twin eight inch pipelines from the east shore of the Inlet, near Nikiski,. to the permanent platform -2- of Pan Am/and its partners. The lines will also serve a permanent platform constructed by Shell Oil Co. and its partners located some three miles south of the Pan Am platform. The new discovery announced today was drilled by the floating drilling vessel Wodeco II in water that is 92 feet deep at mean iow iow tide.
