Submit a well schematic diagram with each 10-407 well completion report and 10-404 well sundry report when the downhole well design is changed. ITEM 1a: Classification of Service Wells: Gas Injection, Water Injection, Water-Alternating-Gas Injection, Salt Water Disposal, Water Supply for Injection, Observation, or Other. Multiple completion is defined as a well producing from more than one pool with production from each pool completely segregated. Each segregated pool is a completion. ITEM 4b: TPI (Top of Producing Interval). ITEM 8: The Kelly Bushing and Ground Level elevation in feet above mean sea level. Use same as reference for depth measurements given in other spaces on this form and in any attachments. ITEM 13: The API number reported to AOGCC must be 14 digits (ex: 50-029-20123-00-00). ITEM 20: Report true vertical thickness of permafrost in Box 20. Provide MD and TVD for the top and base of permafrost in Box 28. ITEM 22: Attached supplemental records for this well should show the details of any multiple stage cementing and the location of the cementing tool. ITEM 23: If this well is completed for separate production from more than one interval (multiple completion), so state in item 1, and in item 23 show the producing intervals for only the interval reported in item 26. (Submit a separate form for each additional interval to be separately produced, showing the data pertinent to such interval). ITEM 26: Method of Operation: Flowing, Gas Lift, Rod Pump, Hydraulic Pump, Submersible, Water Injection, Gas Injection, Shut-In, or Other (explain). ITEM 27: Provide a listing of intervals cored and the corresponding formations, and a brief description in this box. Submit detailed description and analytical laboratory information required by 20 AAC 25.071. ITEM 29: Provide a listing of intervals tested and the corresponding formation, and a brief summary in this box. Submit detailed test and analytical laboratory information required by 20 AAC 25.071. The parent wellbore, 18-24A,jl~was drilled as a rig sidetrack in May 1995 with a slotted liner completion. The well produced very little oil and a second slotted liner leg (18-24AL 1) was drilled with coil in October 1995. This additional leg restored the well to full-time status for a year and a half, followed by almost 2 years of cycling. In May 1999, an IBP, sand and cement whipstock were set at 9100' to isolate 18-24A and 18-24AL1, and the well was sidetracked wit coi to its current location. Although the well was named 18-24AL2, there is only one leg currently open and it is not possible to return to the parent wellbores. 18-24AL2 has 775' of Z1A perfs open, and required gas lift to flow for the first 2 years of production. After 3-1/2 years of full-time production, the well was choked back in an effort to control the GOR and then monthly hot oil treatments were begun to try to boost the rate. The effect of choking back this well was a negligible impact on gas rate paired with an immediate 200+ bopd oil rate impact. Ultimately, the higher backpressure associated with the lower choke setting dropped the oil rate to an average of less than 400 bopd, and finally the well would no longer produce liquids. After being shut in for almost 3 years for no flow, aloes-pressure test was performed that brought in about 200bopd. This test demonstrated the well's sensitivity to choke setting but was not a high enough rate to keep in competitive with the current GPB well stock. Mechanically the well is in sound condition. It passed it's pressure testing (MITIA and MITOA) and had a caliper run in April 2008. The caliper showed the tubing to be in very good condition with no significant areas of wall penetration or cross-sectional loss noted. The 5-1/2" liner is in slightly worse condition with 40-50°Io penetrations noted in 5 joints. The liner is still in sufficient condition to sidetrack. 18-24A has been shut in for almost 3 years due to lack of fluid production. Although aloes-pressure, open choke test showed the well to be capable of producing 200+ bopd, that rate is not sufficient for the well to be competitive with the current GPB well stock. The following describes work planned and is submitted as an attachment to Form 10-403. A schematic diagram of the proposed sidetrack is attached for reference. Pre-Rig Work: 1. MIT-IA, and OA. 2. Post Office Bo~i 96105 Anchorage, Alaska 99519-6105 May 4, 1999 Mr. Robert N. Christenson, Chairman Alaska Oil & Gas Conservation Commission 3001 Porcupine Drive Anchorage, AK 99501 Fax 276-7542 Dear Mr. Christenson: ARCO Alaska, Inc. requests a short turnaround approval of the attached Permit to Drill for the Drill Site 18-24AL2 multilateral wellbore. The DS 12-27A was originally scheduled as the next sidetrack on the Coiled Tubing Drilling (CTD) Rig schedule, but rig proximity (footprint) issues have been identified with the Drilling Rig currently performing sidetracking operations on the adjacent DS 12-28 location. DS 18-24AL2 has been selected as the replacement slot on the Coiled Tubing Drilling schedule. The CTD rig could be ready to drill the DS 18-24AL2 sidetrack as early as Thursday night, May 6, 1999, so your immediate attention would be greatly appreciated. The scope of operations on this well is to ultimately provide a multilateral completion with 3 laterals open to flow. The intended procedure is to temporarily suspend production from both of the existing laterals by setting a through tubing inflatable packer and stacking a sand and cement cap on top for isolation. A window will be milled and a third lateral drilled to the proposed target. The new lateral (18-24AL2) will be completed as a cemented and perforated 2-7/8' OD liner, with several joints of fiberglass liner through the window. After approximately one year of isolated production from the lateral, the original wellbore would be underreamed, removing the fiberglass liner and cement/sand cap, the Inflatable packer would be retrieved and production reinitiated from the original two laterals. If you have any questions, please contact Lamar Gantt at 263-4235. Sincerely, Senior Staff Engineer Arco Wells Group Cc: Paul Rauf ATO-1509 RECEIVED !
