The .Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation (ADEC) has completed revievLand,public notice for permanent closure approval of the inactive reserve pits located.at the abdve reference sites located on the Kenai Peninsula. The closure applications provided the required information describing the history of the reserve Pit(s), the present condition of the reserve pits(s), results of any required water sampling and an assessment of. the potential risks posed by' the drilling waste to human health and the environment. ADEC coordinated field inspections and review of the closure plans with the appropriate landowners or land managers..ADEC has determined that the backfilled reserve pits at these sites do not present a material or probable risk to the .public health or the environment. Public notice requesting comments on the closure requests was published February 21 and 22, 2002 in the Anchorage Daily News and posted on the state web site February 21, 2002. No public comments objecting to closure approval were received in response to this public notice. ADEC has determined that the reserve pits at these sites meet the closure requirements of 18 AAC 60.440. Used 36 centralizers (2 on shoe joint, one on each of joints #2 - #5 and one centralizer one every second joint to surface) ~Ju~ne 30~ 1966 Cut off 13 3/8" cand 9 5/8" casing. Welded on Shaffer 10" - 900 series casing head. Tested weld to 3000 psi - ok. Installed X-over flange and installed Class IV BOPE. Installed Degasser. Tested BOPE and casing. Found valve leaking, Repaired valve. .July 1,_ 1966 Tested complete shutoff to 2750 psi for 15 min. - ok. Picked up 8 5/8" bit and 6" monel collar. Ran in and rubbered drill pipe. Tested Class IV BOPE as per Standard Practice #39. All tests performed at 2750 psi - ok. Located plugs at 2468'. Drilled out plugs and firm cement to 2500'. Drilled out shoe at 2512'. July 17, 1966 Circulated at 5800' and spotted gel pill. Pulled to 5450' and cemented. ?lug #1: Cemented through open ended drill pipe hung at 5450'. Equalized 100 sacks cement, preceeded with 30 cu.ft. water and displaced with 410 cu.ft, mud. Average slurry 116~. Cement in place at 7:00AM. Estimated top of cement at 5150'. Pulled to 2810' and spotted 30 bbls. high viscosity gel pill. Pulled to 2530'. Plug #2: Equalized 100 sacks through open ended drill pipe at 2530'. Preceeded cement with 30 cu. ft. water and dis- placed with 180 cu.ft, mud. Average slurry 116#. Cement in place at 10:45 AM.
