G-31A was sidetracked in May 1998 as a Zone 1 horizontal well. Approximately 1000' was drilled into Zone 1B with the last 500' being very poor quality. The well was kicked off with N2 after the rig perforated 300' of poor quality Z1B rock, then kinley buttons were set uphole to provide gas lift. Shortly after, two schmoo- be-gone (SBG) treatments were pumped into the well followed by a diesel/xylene wash to clean up suspected Moveable Heavy Oil. In 1999, 60 feet of adperfs were shot in clean sand which made a well out of it. Another 75' of adperfs were shot in Mar-2002, making the well more competitive. The well produced until Dec 2002, when it was shut-in for more then two years until a patch was placed over the leaking kinley buttons. The well came back making high GOR oil and started cycling about a year later. In September 2008, 20 feet of end-of-life adperfs were shot in the heel. The well showed to have improved slightly in the first cycle, but did not make a drastic improvement. There are no further options for this well. REASON FOR SIDETRACK Given the high GOR G-31 A is a good candidate for a coil sidetrack. ~~ The proposed plan for G-31A is to drill a through tubing sidetrack with the SLB/Nordic 1 Coiled ~~~~ Tubing Drilling rig on or around May 1, 2009. The existing perforations will be isolated by a CIBP, as ~„ oL well as the primary cement job. The sidetrack, G-31B, will exit the existing 7" liner after the 2-7/8" is cut and pulled. The following describes work planned and is submitted as an attachment to Form 10- 403. Aschematic diagram of the proposed sidetrack is attached for reference. As the attached AOGCC Safety Valve System Test Report indicates ! witnessed the testing of 16 wells and 32 components with no failures. The surface safety valve, on well G-03A closed rather slowly but passed its pressure test. The wing valve on wells G-16 and G-18A had very slow leaks but did not prohibit a valid test~of the surface safety valve. Well G-21 which~.failed the. previous months test. due.~o-a frozen pilot, has the new style insulation box in place and functioned properly. Merv Liddelow performed the testing today; he demonstrated good test procedures and was a pleasure to work with. A walk through inspection of the well houses on this pad was performed during the SVS testing with no problems noted. Well G-t4A which was shut in at this time and not tested was found to have the new style insulation box on the pilot. This should fix the problems found on previous tests. Supervisor FROM: Jeff Jones, SUBJECT: Petroleum Inspector Safety Valve Tests Prudhoe Bay Unit BPX/G Pad March .26, 2.0.01; I traveled to BPX's Prudhoe Bay Field, G Pad, to witness Surface Safety Valve System tests and perform well house inspections. Merv Liddelow was the BPX representative in charge of testing and he performed the tests in a safe and proficient manner. Fifteen wells were tested with nine failures witnessed. The pilots on wells G-02A, G-11^, G-14A and G- 21A failed to operate properly. The SSV's on wells G-01A, G-02A, G-03A, G-09 and G-13 failed to close or failed to hold D/P. Wells G-03 and G-09 were shut in pending repairs. Mr. Liddelow indicated to me that ali other failures had been repaired and passed a retest within 24 hours. Fifteen well houses were inspected and slight crude oil leaks were noted on wells G-14 and G-16. Mr. Liddelow and his crew repaired these leaks immediately. The AOGCC test reports are attached for reference. Need to come up to 8950' TVD per geo and need more left turn. POOH for motor. 4/24/98 5 10086 POOH for motor. Tie in and corrected (+2'). POOH and PU 1.3 Deg Motor. TIH and corrected to flag (-16') RIH. Oriented TF to 80 L. Drilling and building angle. 100' wiper trip at 9686'. Drilling. Drilled to 9759' and having problem drilling shale. Wiper trip to window at 9759' (Hole angle = 95° TVDss = 8955). Found good drill-able sand at 9808'. ROP inc to 60 FPH and some differential sticking taking place with bit stacking. Drill to 9909'. MP #1 had packing leak. Backream to window with MP#2 (can't drill with it). MP #1 back on line. Discuss lack of productive sand with geology. There's not enough polygon left to make a well so will plug back after sand is found. Drill from 9909' (8950' TVD) building angle to look for a good sand. Begin having stacking problems at 9976'. Backream to window at 10003'. Drill ahead thru mostly shales with associated stacking requiring frequent reaming to 10062' (8941' TVD). Backream to 9200'. Drill ahead to 10086' (8937' TVD). Penetration rate started increasing. 4/25/98 6 10213 Drill from 10086-10203' with stacking, reaming and drilling with negative string wt. Located sand at estimated MD of 10130' & at 8923' TVDss. Pump up survey to determine the TVDss location. TD well at 10213' MD, 121°, 8887.8' 'rVDss (after tie-in (+10). POOH and Tie-in. POOH to plug back well. OOH changed out BHA. RIH with cementing BHA #8 (nozzle), tie-in to flag. TIH and taqged the shale at 9122' which is cap rock on zone of interest. Unable to jet through shale ledge. PUH and wait on cement trucks (on other jobs). Got plan from town to KO at 9000' and land at 90° at 8952' TVD. RU DS cementers (6.5 hr wait). Pump 6 bbls 17.0 ppg Class G cement followed by mud with nozzle at 9110'. Lay cement in open hole and 7" liner to 8810'. CIP 2200 hrs. RIH and jet liner and open hole to 8980'. Chase cement to surface while POOH. LD cementing BHA. Perform weekly BOP test. MU drilling BHA. RIH with BHA #9 (2.3 deg motor). 4/26/98 7 899O Finish RIH with drilling BHA. Tie-in to GR marker. Drill from 10286 - 10290 FT BKB, Which is the final TD. POOH. Lay out drilling BHA. Held Safety Meeting with all personnel. Ran 50 its of 2 7/8" STL liner with float equipment and 44 integral blade turbolizers. Fill liner. RIH with 20 more Jts of STL liner. M/U XO, Run 2 7/8" FL4S liner. 5/3/98 14 10228 Finish RIH with 103 jts 2-7/8" 6.16# L-80 STL/FL4S liner. MU Baker CTLRT. Install Baker CTC. Pull test and pressure test. Replace bad blower motor on power pack. RIH with liner on 2-3/8" CT. RIH thru open hole with one set down at 9100'. Tag TD at correct depth. Displace hole to 2% KCI water. Drop ball and displace. Unsting from liner. Held Safety Meeting. Mix 15.8 PPG CMT Slurry. Pump 18.0 BBLS CMT into CT. Load wiper dad and Displace with rig pump. Wiper dad latched liner wiper at 60.5 BBLS. RIH with SWS Memory log on CSH workstring. 5/4/98 15 10228 Finish RIH with SWS Memory GPJCNL. Log down at 30'/min from 8600' to tag at 10194' CTD. Log 200' repeat, then log OOH at 30'/min to 8600'. POOH with CT. Standback workstring. Determine that PBD is approx 50' higher than landing collar. RIH with 2.26" mill on 2-1/8'" motor on workstring. RIH with CT. Drill firm cement from 10176 - 10228 ft BKB. Stall 3 times at 10228 ft. Liner clean to top of landing collar at 10228 ft. Spot 20 BBL pill of high viscosity FIoPro. POOH. The sidetrack, G-31A, will target Zone 1. This sidetrack will be conducted in two phases. Phase 1: Lay abandonment cement and set whipstock: Planned for 4~09~98. · A tubing integrity test will be performed. A dummy whipstock drift will be run prior to perforation abandonment. · Existing perforations will be abandoned with approx. 20 bbls cement. Abandonment cement will be pressure tested to 1500 psi and tagged with AOGCC witness. · A permanent whipstock will be set on ELine at approximately 8870' MD. Phase 2: Mill Window and Drill Directional Hole: Planned for 4118/98. Directional drilling coil tubing equipment will be rigged up and utilized to mill the window and drill the directional hole as per attached plan to planned TD of 10,073' MD (8,941' -I-VDss). Mud Program: - Phase 1: Seawater - Phase 2: FIo-Pro (8.8 - 8.9 ppg) Casing Program: - 2 7/8", 6.16#, L-80, ST-L liner will be run from TD to approx. 7194' MD and cemented with approx. 20 bbls. cement. The well will then be perforated with coil tubing conveyed guns. Well Control: - BOP diagram is attached. - Pipe rams, blind rams and the CT pack off will be pressure tested to 400 psi and to 4000 psi. - The annular preventer will be tested to 400 psi and 2000 psi.
