MIRU Camco CTU. Bleed well to open top tank (< 1 bbl return). RIH w/cement nozzle and tag bottom at 6,987'. Needed to pump
and work pipe to bottom as if running through something. (10# WBM that had been sitting for 3 weeks). Pull up to 6,982' and park
coil. Begin mixing cement and pump 10 bbl fresh water spacer followed by 15 bbl (200') of cement and an additional 10 bbl of fresh
water. Switch to Camco and displace with diesel at 1.5 bpm. POOH laying in cement leaving TOC at 6,771'. Continue POOH
displacing with diesel to 5,900'. Park coil, shut in annulus and pressure up to 500 psi (took 1.0 bbl). Bled off 89 psi in 20 minutes.
Pressure back up to 523 psi (took 0.3 bbl); bled off 20 psi in 10 minutes. POOH to 2,200' keeping constant pressure on well.
Attempt to reverse out mud through coil. With 17 bbl circulated into the coil pressure increased to max. Pumped down the coil to
clear 18 bbls. POOH to 600' pumping diesel down coil attempting to dilute the thick mud believed to have plugged coil. RIH
reversing diluted mud up through the coil. With 40 bbl circulated through coil, pressure began to rise and rate had to be decreased.
Began POOH pumping at Iow rate. On surface with coil; shut in swab and clear with diesel to slop tank. Attempted to RIH and wash
tree but could not get past swab valve. Pressured up well to 230 psi and shut in. RDMO Camco.
When rigging off the well ice was found coating the nozzle and completely lining the BOPs. This is what was preventing the coil from
passing the swab. MPU Well Ops Coordinator was informed of this and action will be taken prior to moving on rig.
At end of job TOC expected to be about 6,750' and well freeze protected to ~2,000'.

Agreed on Actions for Operations Shut Down on MPU L-28i
Forward Plan.
As we discussed in our phone conversation we are shuting down operations on L-28i. After setting a
whipstock from 16,300-16,316 and sidetracking from the 7" casing we were unable to stabilize the 6" hole
section. Volume Cement = 175' x 0.035bbls/ft x 2 + 50' x .0371bbls/ft + 50' x .0371bbls/ft + 1.5=
12.25 + 1.85 + 1.85 + 1.5 = 17.5 bbls
Well Information
1. Surface Casing Type: 9-5/8" 40# L-80 Buttress
2. Surface Setting Depth of 9-5/8" Csg.: 7,177' MD, TVDbkb
3. Intermediate Casing Type: 7" 29# L-80 Hydril 563

?. Window for 16,300-16,319'
8. Current PBTD with EZSV: 16,319' _+.
Scope of Work: Cleaning Out the 7" casing then run and EZSV and plug back..
Clean out the 7" 29# casing to 16,300'. This trip is necessary to reduce the chances of
prematurely setting the EZSV on debris which might be left in the hole. Next we will run an EZSV
on drill pipe and plug back. RIH with the EZSV to 16,250'. Down squeeze to place a cement plug
from: 1) 16,475' to the 7" whipstock at 16,300 (using 100% excess); 2) from the whipstock up
50' inside the 7" casing to the retainer at 16,250', and 3) 50' on top of the retainer for 16,200-
16,250'.

Subject: AFTER SPUD Approval to Plugback and Sidetrack MPU L-28i

Date: 6 May 1998
Re: MPU L-28i (Permit No. 98-014).
Previous Operations.
After drilling the 8-1/2' hole to 19,700' we attempted to run 7" production casing but were unable to get the
casing to bottom. We attempted to pull the 7' casing to make another wiper run but because of deteriorating
hole conditions we cemented it in place at 16,572' which is approximately 3,128' from TD. We then affempted
to clean out the 8-1/2" hole but twisted off a BHA after cleaning out to 16,764' while washing and reaming to
bottom, leaving 113' of fish in the hole. We attempted to recover the fish but were unsuccessful end could not
wash over the fish to remove it. Throughout the cfean-out and fishing operations the hole conditions continued
to cause us severe problems, e.g, packing off, high torque, and sticking. Our operations were further
hampered because of the Kalubik Shale interval between the HRZ and Kuparuk D were de-stabilised because
of the stresses we've put on it while running casing, performing the clean out and fishing operations. Hole
stability may have been aggravated by minor faulting in this section.
Forward Plan.
As we discussed in today's phone conversation we are planning to side-track above the 7" casing shoe after
setting an EZSV and down squeezing the 7" casing shoe because: 1) we lost our BHA directly below the 7'
shoe which is obstructing access the old wellbore and 2) ~e Kalubik shale below the shoe is unstable and we
have not been able to keep it open. Currently we are making a clean out run before we set the retainer. We will
abandon the original well bore by: 1) setting a retainer et 16,372 and 2) a down-squeezing a cement plug. The
cement will extend 93' below the casing shoe to the top of the fish at 16,66§ and from the shoe up 200' inside
the casing to 16,372. After abandoning the original 8-1/2" hole we will install a whipstock at 16,352' and cut a
window in the 7" casing and drill a 6" production hole. The new well path will parallel the first hole
approximately 50' to the west to a depth of 19,680. After drilling 6" hole to TD we will run a 4-1/~.'' L-80 12.6#
IBT modified liner from 16,172-19,680' and cement the entire length of the liner in place.

1. The Doyon 15 drilling operations on this well have been hampered by formation stability,
especially in the HRZ. With drilling fluid weights up to 11.0 ppg, we have not been able to
stop the formation from sloughing / running, We need to review the information gathered
and plan to re-drill this reservoir target at a future date.
2. The drilling permit is AOGCC Permit # 98.0021
RIG OPERATIONS
1. Pick up a cement retainer and RIH to set 50 to 100 feet above window at 12,181' MD.
2. Establish Injection rate through the retainer, Unsting from retainer to displace cement to
the CR at minimum pressures.
3. Mix and pump 5 BBL sx of class G cement and circulate down the drillpipe. Sting into the
retainer and displace 4 BBLS of cement below retainer, unsting to leave 1 bbl of cement
on top of the retainer.
4. Circulate the 4.5" tubing with 1.5 volumes of 10.0 ppg brine. Check that the well is dead.
Freeze protect the top 500' with diesel. Set BPV.
5. Pump Corrosion inhibitor. (1/2 day) ~
6. Set the BPV. ND the BOPE, and NU the tree. Shear the RP valve and freeze protect the

Change in Well Scope to MPU !.-281
Blair as we discussed on the phone, this afternoon Thursday April 30, 1998 we where unable to get
our 7" production casing to bottom on L-28i. We drilled the 8-1/2" hole as planned to TD at
19,700'(6,920' tvd). We attempted to run 7" production casing but we were unable to get our
production casing below 16,771', We attempted to retdeve the casing so we could make another
clean out run in but after we pulled 5 of the 422 its of casing the pipe stuck at 16,572' and we were
not able to free it. While working the 5 jts. of casing out of the hole we had intermittent circulation
because the hole was packing off. At that time because hole conditions were deteriorating we
elected to cement the casing in place at 16,572'. The 7" casing was cemented at 16,572' with 200
sxs of Premium G cement. Our forward plan is to drill out the 7" Casing, attempt to re-enter the 8-
1/2" hole with a 6" BHA and clean out to 19,700'. If successful we'll run a 4-1/2" liner from 16,272'
to 19,700'. If we can't re-enter the old 8-1/2" hole we'll re-ddll the interval with 6" BHA to the same
bottom hole location. Should this occur we'll still plan on running a 4-1/2" liner.
Note: I'll keep you posted on what happens or if problems develop.

The internal tield pressure of the 7" 26# casing is 7240 psi. The deepest anticipated gas should occur no deeper
than the oil water contact which is expected below the TKA1 at _ 7,000 TVDbkb In this instance, this worst case
surface pressure would occur with a full column of gas from the reservoir from a depth of _+7,000 TVDbkb. The
maximum anticipated surface pressure in this case assuming a reservoir pressure of 3,312 psi is 2,612 psi using
a 0.1 psi/ft gas gradient, well below the internal yield pressure rating of the 7" casing.

GENERAL DISCUSSION
Well Objective:
MP L-28i is planned as an inverted ERD horizontal Kuparuk River A Sand producer with a final angle of 93°;
departure of 16,059' and a measured depth19,704'. The HAW-shaped well profile with a final angle of 93°, will
intersect the target objectives crossing through multiple fault blocks for optimum production. The surface casing
will be deep set below the Schrader Bluff at 7,194'md (4,465' bkb) to isolate the Ugnu and Schraber Bluff from the
Kuparuk interval which should not be abnormally pressured by area injection.
Geolo_clv
This injection well is located to the northwest of L-Pad. The primary targets are the Kupauuk A3, A2 and A1 sands
with some potential in the Kuparuk B sands. The well bore will penetrate the A3 and A2 sands on the entry, flatten
in the A1 sand, then invert to penetrate the A2 and A3 sands on exit. The horizontal section will penetrate the MP
F-01, MP F-06, MP F-14 and MP F-16i fault block. Some pressure depletion may be seen while drilling this well
because of production from MP F-01 and MP F-06. The HRZ interval in some nearby wells is missing. In other
nearby wells the HRZ was thin or truncated. In this well a full section is assumed, but the zone my be truncated.
The vertical margin of uncertainty associated with the Kuparuk targets in this well is approximately 100_+ ft TVDbkb
due to seismic time conversion. The deepest known oil in the area is at F-46i at a depth of 7,216 tvd ss. No water
contact is expected at the L-28i bottom hole location but could be encountered. Reserves associated with this
injector in this hydraulic unit are estimated at 4.48 MMBO. Total reserves associated with the MP F-28i, MP F-01,
MP F-06, MP F-14 and MP F-16i fault block are estimated at 44.8 MMSB OOIP with 15.7 MMB of recoverable
(primary and secondary) reserves.
DRILLING HAZARDS AND RISKS SUMMARY:
Formation pressures are expected to be partially depleted. A 9.1 ppg EMW formation pressure is anticipated in
the Kuparuk formation. The well profile has been designed to avoid close approaches and no wells will be shut in
while drilling this well. The deep set surface casing design is recommended to alleviate potential problems of
differential sticking and lost circulation in the Ugnu and Schrader Bluff while drilling the Kuparuk.
Close Approaches
There are no close approaches associated with the drilling of MP F-34i, however, tolerance lines should be
carefully monitored and deviations from the proposed well path minimized.
Water, Gas and WAG Injection
MP F-16i is present in the hydraulic unit in which MP L-28i is planned: however production from MP F-01, MP F-
06, MP F-14 and have partially depleted the area so over-pressure is not expected.
MP L-28i (L-98 Hi) Drilling Permit 4 1/14/98
Annular Injection
Currently annular injection is not permitted on L-Pad.
Lost Circulation:
Lost circulation is prevalent while running casing and cementing in the surface but also occurs in the production
hole. Losses are extremely probable while cementing the production casing in wells with shallow set surface
casing. Losses have been experienced while drilling the 12-1/4" surface and while circulating to condition mud
before, while and after running surface casing to bottom. Major losses have also occurred while cementing the
production casing. In many instances, the losses were minimized by reducing swab and surge pressures,
minimizing mud weight and conditioning the mud before cementing. Contingencies have been incorporated to well
program remedy loses if encountered.
Stuck Pipe Potential:
Running gravel's, sticky clays, tight coal sections, packing off, bridging, and stuck pipe have occurred while drilling
the 12 1-4" surface holes on L-Pad. Excessive amounts of reaming have been required to condition the hole to run
surface casing. While running 9-5/8" casing the following problems were experienced: hole packing off; tight hole,
bridging, and stuck casing. While drilling the surface hole additional time has been spent reaming and conditioning
the hole prior to cementing because of tight hole. Attention should be given to The Ugnu and Schrader Bluff
formations to reduce the chances of differential sticking in these formations with higher mud's weights.
With the possibility that the HRZ will be truncated or absent the potential for stuck pipe in the transition interval
from Colville (SeeBee) to Kulubik is recognized. Shale instability in the Miluveach may result in tight hole or
packing off so preventative measures must be taken to alleviate this risk if the Miluveach is inadvertently entered.
While drilling the production section increased torque and drag have been experienced after drilling into Kuparuk
D Shale. This common occurrence has often caused difficulties, so care should be taken to avoid the stuck pipe
potential while drilling the 8 1/2" production interval. Differential sticking is most likely to occur while running the
production string.
Formation Pressure: ~
KUPARUK A1 SAND 7,000' TVDss 3,494 PSI 9.1 PPG EMW
Formation pressures are expected to be partially depleted and the pore pressure is estimated at 9.1 ppg EMW.
The deepest anticipated gas should occur no deeper than the oil water contact which is expected below the TKA1
at ± 7,000 TVDbkb. In this instance, this worst case surface pressure would occur with a full column of gas from
the reservoir from a depth of ±7,000' TVDbkb. The maximum anticipated surface pressure in this case assuming
a reservoir pressure of 3,494 psi is 2,794 psi. The maximum expected pore pressure for this well is 9.1 ppg
EMW (3,494 psi @ 7,000' TVDbkb). There has been injection in this region, however the reservoir pressure is not
expected to exceed this estimate. See the updated Milne Point L-Pad Data Sheet prepared by Pete Van Dusen
for information on L pad and review recent wells drilled on L Pad.
