RIH & set an inflatable straddle assembly at 11235 - 11248' MD (seal to seal), in preparation for donut squeeze w/Thixotropic cement. POOH. Prep for squeeze. 9/11/96: A CTU Cement Squeeze of gas production from fault at top of slotted liner was performed as follows: Loaded CT with a sequence of 0.25 bbls of Neat Thixotropic Class G cement, followed by 1 bbl Thixotropic Class G cement w/Scandium 46 RA tracer, followed by 0.25 bbls of Neat Thixotropic Class G cement. RIH w/CT & latched straddle packer assembly. Displaced CT w/1.44 bbls of Meth Water to place the 1.5 bbls of Thixotropic cement between the straddle packers & to squeeze a cement donut outside the horizontal 4-1/2" slotted liner. PU latched overshot to release straddle packers. POOH slowly w/straddle while replacing voidage. Lost 2 IBP elements in hole. RD. 9/15/96: RIH w/underreamer & reamed cement stringers from liner from 11170' to 11300' MD. RD. 9/1 6/96: Ran Spectral Icg & saw cement donut present outside slotted liner between 11235 - 11248' MD. 9/2 RIH test 1/96: & set an inflatable Bridge Plug at 11240' MD (element) in cement donut. Pumped step rate w/Seawater. Injectivity showed fluid going by donut &/or to faulted areas of wellbore. RD. 9/30/96: RIH & retrieved inflatable Bridge Plug. 1 I/8/96: RIH & set tandem Inflatable Bridge Plugs at 11175' & 11186' MD (elements). injectivity step rate test w/Crude. POOH. Rigged down. Pumped an I 1/1 0/96: Performed a Fullbore Gel Squeeze of faulted area around wellbore for Gas Shutoff as follows: MIRU & PT equipment. Pumped following fluids sequence squeezed away through the slotted liner: a) 876 bbls of 3000 ppm Polymer Marcit Gel @ 3.5 - 4.25 bpm, followed by b) 642 bbls of 3000 ppm Crosslinked Polymer Marcit Gel @ 2.5 - 3.5 bpm, followed by c) 900 bbls of 4500 ppm Crosslinked Polymer Marcit Gel @ 1.5 - 2.5 bpm, followed by d) 275 bbls of 7000 ppm Crosslinked Polymer Marcit Gel @ 1 - 3 bpm, followed by e) 185 bbls of Maraseal Gel @ 3 bpm, followed by f) 15 bbls Seawater, followed by g) 87 bbls Crude, followed by h) 10 bbls Diesel, followed by i) Shutdown. Attained 1300 psi max squeeze pressure during the 7000 ppm stage. Rigged down. Arco Alaska, Inc. has requested a waiver from the requirements of Conservation Order 165, Rule 1 l(a) which requires an production profile survey on each new well within six months of putting the well on production. They request waivers on specific well on Drill Sites 15 and 18. The wells in question are a conventional single zone completion and nearly horizontal high angle wells completed in one geologic zone with perforations or slotted liners. The wells specified in the request are: DS 18-22 DS 18-27 DS 15-28 DS 15-30 DS 15-31 APl # 50-029-22303 APl # 50-029-22329 APl # 50-029-22321 APl # 50-029-22247 APl # 50-029-22282 APl # 50-029-22285 Rule 1 l(a) of C.O. 165 was intended to provide surveillance of zone depletion rates in wells perforated in multiple zones. Production profile surveys on wells completed in single zones, therefore provide no useful information. Zone depletion can be measured directly from production data. Horizontal wells drain laterally along the well course and fall outside the region where productivity profiles are normally applied, namely identifying vertical drainage patterns. Waiving Rule 1 l(a) for these wells will not cause waste nor will correlative rights be impaired. Rule 1 l(d) of C.O. 165 (amended by Rule 2 C.O. 213) allows the Commission to waive the requirements of Rule 1 l(a), 1 l(b), and 11(c) by administrative approval. In addition, the Commission may specify additional surveys beyond those submitted under Rule 1 l(a), 1 l(b), and 11(c) by administrative order, should the need arise. Page 2 Waiver of Rule 11(a), CO 165 ALTERNATIVES The alternatives to productivity profile surveys are measuring volumetric production from monthly production reports. If a well is recompleted later with more than one zone open, a survey can be run then to establish zone contribution and establish zone differential depletion. Finally, the Commission may administratively order additional surveys in single zone conventional wells and horizontal high angle well in the future should the need arise or upon demonstration of value to be gained for surveillance purposes. RECOMMENDATION I recommend the Commission aPprove.the waiver of Rule 1 l(a), CO 165 in the specified wells. Alternatives exist for measuring zone depletion and the Commission may order additional surveys at any time should the need arise. The test was held up due to some trash in the test plug seat which had to be removed, once underway the test went well with all equipment functioning properly and holding its pressure test. The rig crew performs a good test and gives the impression that this is a normal occurrence. The gas detection module had been removed for repairs and a standby system was in its place. This was only a two channel system with sensors at the pits and bell nipple, these were tested and checked out fine. Ron Wilson (Doyon ToolPusher) expected his normal system to be in place by the next weekly test. The surrounding area was clean and orderly.with good access provided. I find this to be one of the better rigs operating in the state. SUMMARY: I witnessed a BOP Test on Doyon Rig 9 with no failures observed - 1 hour 25 minute test time.
