History of MPF-74: MPF-74 was drilled in June 1996. The Kuparuk WAG injector is perforated in the A1/A2/A3 sands. The well was on gas injection September 2005 to April 2006 and again May 2007 until October 2007. The well is currently shut in because it's offset producer, MPF-61, is shut in awaiting a RWO. (J1 [AO `pr 4 Reason for sidetrack: The reason for the sidetrack is to add injection points in Al, A2, and A3 Y sands in eastern fault block to support MPF-65 and MPL-25. Proposed plan for MPF-74Ai: Drill a through tubing sidetrack with a Coiled Tubing Drilling rig on or cc) around May 1St, 2014 with Nordic 2 using the managed pressure drilling technique. The sidetrack, M' MPF-74A, will exit the existing 7" casing and kick off in Kuparuk B sands. This sidetrack will be completed with a 2-3/8" slotted liner in the production interval. This Sundry covers plugging the existing MPF-74 perforations via the MPF-74A liner top packer(alternate plug placement per 20 AAC 25.112(i)). 4--"P tic -- ' p 71, The following describes the work planned and is submitted as an attachment to Form 10-403. When a Form 10-403 is submitted requesting approval to plug a well for redrill, the initial reviewer(Art or Steve D.)will check to make sure that the "Plug for Redrill" box in the upper left corner of the 403 form is checked. If the "Abandon" box is checked, we will cross that erroneous entry out and initial it on both copies of the Form 10-403 (AOGCC's and operator's copies). 2. On the Form 10-403 if"Abandon" is checked in Box 15 (Well Status after proposed work), Art or Steve D. will cross that erroneous entry out and initial it on both copies of the Form 10-403 (AOGCC's and operator's copies). Instead, we will check the "Suspended" box. Guy and Winton will serve as quality control for steps 1 and 2. 3. When Steve McMains receives the Form 10-403 with a check in the "Plug for Redrill" box, he will enter the existing code "IBPRD" into RBDMS. This code automatically generates a comment under the History tab stating "Intent: Plug for Redrill." 4. When Steve McMains receives any Form 10-407, he will check the History tab in RBDMS for this comment. If he sees the "Intent: Plug for Redrill" code, and cannot find any evidence that a subsequent re-drill has been COMPLETED, he will assign a status of SUSPENDED to the well bore in RBDMS, no matter what status is listed on the 10-407. Steve will also change the status on the 10-407 form to SUSPENDED, and will date and initial his change. If Steve does not see the "Intent: Plug for Redrill" comment or code, he will enter the status listed on the Form 10-407 into RBDMS. 5. When the Form 10-407 for the redrill is received, Steve M. will change the original well's status from suspended to abandoned. 6. The first week of every January and July,Steve M. and Steve D. will check the "Well by Type Work Outstanding" user query in RBDMS to ensure that all of the Plug for Redrill wells have been handled properly. At this same time, Steve M. and Steve D.will also review the list of suspended wells for accuracy. The corrosion inhibitor is engineered to prevent water from entering the annular space and causing external corrosion that could result in a surface casing leak to atmosphere. I can see that sufficient diesel was pumped to freeze protect to below the permafrost. That wasn't clear from the earlier message. I appreciate your reply. Tom Maunder, PE AOGCC From: NSU, ADW Well Integrity Engineer [mailto:NSUADWWeIIIntegrityEngineer@BP.com] Sent: Tuesday, January 12, 2010 8:02 PM To: Maunder, Thomas E (DOA) Subject: RE: NOT OPERABLE: MPF-74 (PTD# 1961080) Ice plug in tubing Tom, Freeze protecting wells to a depth below the permafrost is a standard operating practice for all wells operated by BPXA. On 02/06/08, 26 bbls (3000' md) of freeze protect was pumped down the tubing of MPF-74 when its injection cycle was complete. However, on 04/06!09 slickline tagged down on an obstruction in the tubing at 3037' slm (2699' TVD). At this depth, the amount of fluid used to ensure the tubing would not freeze was sufficient down through the permafrost. With the current freeze protect fluid in the top 3000'md of the well there are no concerns of the tubing ice plug moving toward surface. The TIO pressure reading on 12/18/09 (0/1120/240) and 01/08/10 (0/1140/260) verify tubing integrity from the pressure differential. In my previous email I stated that there are no immediate plans to thaw the plug with coilp.Tg is was,in"refer" ence to our internal 28 day Under Evaluation clock. Though there are plans to remove the ice lu I didn t think the plug would be removed before our internal 28 day clock would run out. The AOGCC will be notified once the ice plug has been thawed and the well is capable of injection. Thank you, Torin Roschinger (alt. I don't know that there are regulations regarding inside the tubing. I do know that freeze protecting is a standard operation. Where does this well fit into BP's operating practices? The well obviously had been SI for a long time. Do you all have concern that the tubing could be damaged with the growth 1 /22/2010 NOT OPERABLE: MPF-74 (PT~1961080) Ice plug in tubing • Page 2 of ~~ of the ice plug? There shouldn't be a concern going deeper since the tubing should be open to the formation, but elevated pressures could develop shallower in the well. NU & Test BOPE to 5000 psig. Complete well with 3-1/2" tubing hookup. Install Surface Lines and Wellhouse and put the well on production. RECEIVED JUN 0 7 1996 Alaska Oil & Gas Cons. Commission Anchorage DRILLING HAZARDS AND RISKS: Seethe updated Milne Point F-Pad Data Sheet prepared by Pete Van Dusen for information on F pad and review recent wells drilled on F Pad. Most of the trouble time on recent wells has been due to equipment mechanical problems with the surface equipment, rather than formation drilling problems. The MPU PE group MAY be perforating, hydraulic fracturing and cleaning out wells shortly after the rig drills and completes them. This will make the near rig area congested and as a result potentially hazardous. Ensure personnel use caution moving around adjacent production activities. Close Approach: There are no close approaches with producing wells associated with the drilling of MP F-74i. Lost Circulation: There has not been any appreciable amount of lost circulation in surface hole on any of the F Pad wellls to date. Stuck Pipe Potential: Well MPF-53 was stuck coming out on the short trip at surface casing point. Proir to this incident there was only minor indications that the gravel and coal were present. It appears that we dragged the gravel up into the bottom of the curve and reduced our ability to move up or down. Then we lost the ability to circulate when the hole collapsed. Subsequent fishing operations were not successful and a very expensive BHA was lost in the hole from 2516 - 3342. If significant gravels are encountered stop and raise funnel viscosity to 150 cp viscosity immediately. Formation Pressure: The maximum expected pore pressure for this well is 9.6 ppg EMW (3,714 psi @ 7,441' TVD). There has been no injection in this region, therefore the reservoir pressure should not exceed this estimate. RECEIVED JUN 0 7 1996 Alaska 011 & (~as Cons.
