Subject: RE: Barrow Gas Field Monthly Reporting - 10-422s and 10-405s
Hi Matt,
Victoria communicated that the preferred reporting method is to report all of the flaring at Barrow moving forward.
There is no need to modify passed reports; we will note the changes in reporting format in the file.
Thank you and please let us know if there are any questions.

Victoria,
First to keep this as one string, I attached your email and pasted a portion below highlighted in grey.
See my responses in red to your questions below.
1. Is there only one flare in the Barrow facility that is used for Barrow flaring as well as Walakpa flaring or is there
a flare for Walakpa also? Any information you have on the facilities would be useful.
One flare that is used to flare both the Barrow and Walakpa Facilities. Does my simple block diagram below
suffice or do you need more detailed information?
2. On the 2/17 10-422 for Barrow, 397 MCF is flared for over an hour from 2/6/17 to 2/7/17. This flaring lasted for
about 23 hours. Was there an event associated with this flaring?
The flare is used infrequently to dispose of produced liquids once enough has accumulated in the produced
liquids flare vessel. The amount of produced liquids is small. The flare event dated 2/17/17 disposed of
approximately 3,325 gallons. The previous flare event was 10 months prior on 4/17/16 that disposed of
approximately 3,500 gallons. The extended time period for the flaring event is required to maintain a "clean"
burn at the flare.
If you need more information let me know and I will gladly help. Again if something becomes too complicated to
communicate via email give me a call at 852-0212 to talk it over.
Thanks,
Matt

Hi Matt,
Please clarify:
3. Is there only one flare in the Barrow facility that is used for Barrow flaring as well as Walakpa flaring or is there
a flare for Walakpa also? Any information you have on the facilities would be useful.

Below is all I have from Matt.
I just emailed him, out of curiosity/general understanding, to ask if the all the "sold gas' on the Walakpa facility is
transferred to the Barrow facility each month.

Yes, the gas is transferred from the Walakpa Facility to the Barrow Facility each month. Below is a crude block diagram

Thanks Matt.
The engineering focal for Gas Disposition and Flaring is reviewing the case now.
Out of curiosity (and general understanding), does the "Sold gas" get transferred from the Walakpa facility to the
Barrow Facility each month?

Liz,
I changed the forms to indicate the transfers were made. I attached two versions because I had a question.
Version 1: Has all the flare gas on the South/East Field Facility 10-422
Version 2: Separates the flare gas on both facilities.
Let me know which one is correct.
Now my next question. Do all of the existing records need to be back corrected?
Thanks,
Matt

Just in case Matt is out, I thought I'd forward this to you.
It appears the flaring reports for both facilities were combined into one event. Is this possible? Typically we would
require separate flaring reports for each facility, or the 10-422's to reflect that gas was transferred from one facility to
the other. Can you perhaps explain how/why the flaring volumes are combined into one event?
Thanks,

Hi Matt,
The 30-405's and 10-422's checked out ok. I am not understanding the flaring report though.
It appears the flaring report was combined, but I do not know that that is possible.
Please either submit separate flaring reports for each facility, or modify the 10-422's to indicate transfers that were
made to allow one facility to flare both amounts.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
