You came to the right place. I talked with Bob Crandall and, after reviewing the file, he said CHANGE the well name to PBU Y-1 lB, with the appropriate APl suffix number 029-20513-02. Probably our resistence to change was since this type of drilling was new in 1995, AOGCC and the operator didn't know what to expect when completing the drilling operations. This well slipped thru the cracks. This change is effective today with one request. You let the production people know of this change before January 2000 production is reported to AOGCC. These were originally submitted last February. At that time, a note was faxed back to us from Jack Hartz and Steve McMains stating that some of the information was incorrect. As it turns out I had been confused on the well names and the fact that Y-1 lA needed to show a status of 'Squeezed' since an approved P&A Sundry request had not been submitted. The Permit To Drill Y-11AL1 was intended to be an additional lateral to the original wellbore, leaving Y-1 lA also open. Due to trouble while drilling, it was eventually decided to P&A Y-1 lA, and this then became a normal sidetracked well, with a lateral indication in the name (Y-11AL1). The well histories, directional surveys and logs have previously been filed with the Commission and there are no changes. I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. The Permit To Drill this Well'was intended to be an additional lateral to the original wellbore. Due to trouble while drilling, it was eventually decided to P&A the original well, and this then became a normal sidetracked well. I called and spoke with Jack Hartz on 10/16/95 regarding changing the name from Y-11AL to Y-1 lA. He told me that a Sundry (10-403) was not required and to report this well with the approved Permit and APl numbers. I had been concerned that the APl number indicated a lateral, but he said that once an APl number is assigned, it cannot be changed. /tlh ~EB ~.6 I,~SG Ar~cho~aLi6~ ~P/AAI SHARED SERVICE DAILY OPERATIONS PAGE: 1 WELL: Y-11L1 BOROUGH: NORTH SLOPE UNIT: PRUDHOE BAY FIELD: PRUDHOE BAY LEASE: API: 50- PERMIT: APPROVAL: ACCEPT: 08/30/95 02:00 SPUD: RELEASE: 10/16/95 08:00 OPERATION: DRLG RIG: DOYON 14 WO/C RIG: DOYON 14 08/30/95 (1) TD:10472' ( 0) 08/31/95 (2) TD:10472' ( 0) 09/01/95 (3) TD:10472' ( 0) 09/02/95 (4) TD:10472 PB: 8781 CIRC AND KILL WELL MW: 0.0 VIS: 0 ACCEPT RIG FOR OPERATIONS AT 0200 HRS, 08/30/95. The B~DP test lasted approximately three hours. All equipment I observed functioned properly and held its pressure test. The rig appeared to be in good shape and the crew performed well during the test. Todd Driscoll (Doyon Tooipusher) was very attentive to the procedure used during the test. The Methane and H2S detectors were tested and passed. Although slightly congested,,the area surrounding the rig was clean and orderly providing adequate access to the rig. The permit to drill does not exempt you from obtaining additional permits required by law from other governmental agencies, and does not authorize conducting drilling operations until all other required permitting determinations are made. The permit is for a new segment for existing well Y-11, Permit No. 80-134, APl 029-20513-01. Production should continue to be reported as a function of the original well identifier. Blowout prevention equipment (BOPE) must be tested in accordance with 20 AAC 25.035. Sufficient notice (approximately 24 hours) of the BOPE test performed before drilling below the surface casing shoe must be given so that a representative of the Commission may witness the test. Notice may be given by contacting the Commission petroleum field inspector 659-3607. David ~/. With 9.8 ppg the hydrostatic is 4484 psi which well over the formation pressure of_+3500 psi. This well is slated for being a multilateral in the respect that a sidetrack is to be drilled from the original hole and that same original hole is to be preserved for future use. Therefore, there will be no Sundry Notice of Abandonment. In the event that the multilateral plan for Y-11L1 is deemed not to be an option, then the well will be drilled as a standard sidetrack candidate, utilizing either a 7" drilling liner set at the top of the sadlerochit with a 4 1/2" production liner to follow or just a 7" production long string liner through the interval. SUMMARY PROCEDURE 1. Pre-rig work. Cut the 7",26# NT80S tubing at ___8920, freeze protect and secure the well. Prepare the pad for the drilling rig. Move in drilling rig. Pull BPV. Circulate diesel freeze protection cap from well and recover for future use. Install a BPV. Remove the production tree. Install BOP's and test to 5000 psi. Remove BPV. Pull and lay down the 7", 26#, NT80S, NSCC tubing. PU 9 5/8" solid whipstock and RIH to +_8800', RU and run Gyro to orient the tool, set whipstock and shearout mill from same Displace well to FLO-PRO/milling fluid. Mill the starter hole POOH, PU window mill, RIH and mill out window from the whipstock. POOH RIH with retrieving tool and pull the solid whipstock from 9 5/8" casing. Rill with the 9 5/8" hollow whipstock with the orienting latch and install same, POOH. RIH with directional BHA and build angle at +12°/100' from -+8800' to _+10024' and hold the final 85° of angle to _+10751 '. Make a conditioning trip with an 8 1/2" hole-opener for the open hole section. Install a 7", 29#, L-80, STL Solid liner with 7" X 9-5/8" composite joints opposite from the 9 5/8" window. Pump cement around the 7" liner. PU on drill pipe, release from whipstock and pull seals out of setting collar, reverse out any excess cement. PU cleanout mill and mill through original well bore still in the 9 5/8" casing. Close the annular and pressure test casing and lateral junction to 3500 psi for 30 minutes. RU slickline and RIH with full gauge deflector with orienting lock to deflect future tools into lateral wellbore and set into place at casing window. RIH with drill pipe conveyed logs and Icg 7" lateral liner, POOH, perforate with tubing conveyed guns, POOH, RIH with slickline and retrieving tool and pull full size deflector. Install 4 1/2",12.6#,L-80,NSCT tubing with a 9 5/8" X 4 1/2" packer, Set packer and test tubing to 4000 psi, then install a BPV.
