The parent wellbore, 18-24A~ was drilled as a rig. sidetrack in May 1995 with a slotted liner completion. The well produced very little oil and a second slotted liner leg (18-24AL1) was drilled with coil in October 1995. This additional leg restored the well to full-time status for a year and a half, followed by almost 2 years of cycling. In Ma 1999, an IBP, sand and cement whivstock were set at 9100' to isolate 18-24A and 18-24AL1, and the well was si etrac ce wit coi to its current location. Although the well was named 18-24AL2, there is only one leg currently open and it is not possible to return to the parent wellbores. 18-24AL2 has 775' of Z1A perfs open, and required gas lift to flow for the first 2 years of production. After 3-1/2 years of full-time production, the well was choked back in an effort to control the GOR and then monthly hot oil treatments were begun to try to boost the rate. The effect of choking back this well was a negligible impact on gas rate paired with an immediate 200+ bopd oil rate impact. Ultimately, the higher backpressure associated with the lower choke setting dropped the oil rate to an average of less than 400 bopd, and finally the well would no longer produce liquids. After being shut in for almost 3 years for no flow, aloes-pressure test was performed that brought in about 200bopd. This test demonstrated the well's sensitivity to choke setting but was not a high enough rate to keep in competitive with the current GPB well stock. Mechanically the well is in sound condition. It passed it's pressure testing (MITIA and MITOA) and had a caliper run in April 2008. The caliper showed the tubing to be in very good condition with no significant areas of wall penetration or cross-sectional loss noted. The 5-1/2" liner is in slightly worse condition with 40-50% penetrations noted in 5 joints. The liner is still in sufficient condition to sidetrack. 18-24A has been shut in for almost 3 years due to lack of fluid production. Although slow-pressure, open choke test showed the well to be capable of producing 200+ bopd, that rate is not sufficient for the well to be competitive with the current GPB well stock. The following describes work planned and is submitted as an attachment to Form 10-403. A schematic diagram of the proposed sidetrack is attached for reference. Pre-Rig Work: 1. MIT-IA, and OA. 2. All of the necessary procedures will be sent to the rig if this situation occurs SUMMARY PROCEDURE: , , . Pre-rig work: Rig up for a full bore P & A down the tubing. Pump cement to cover the perfs up to 8700' MD and to squeeze away 5.3 bbls into perfs (25 bbls total). RU slick line and tag cement. ( AOGCC to witness this tag ) Cut the 3-1/2" tubing as close to the packer as possible and below the chemical injection line. KOP will be at 8010' MD so it will have to be cut @ 8210' MD. Kill the well with sea water, and freeze protect. Set and test a BPV and prepare the location for the rig. Move in drilling rig. Test 7-5/8" intermediate casing pack-off if not done during pre-rig work prior to accepting the rig. Pull BPV. Circulate diesel freeze protection cap from well with sea water and recover for future use if possible. 4. Install a BPV. Remove the production tree. 5. Install BOP's and test to 5000 psi. Rig-up Schlumberger and RIH with USIT Log to evaluate 7-5/8 casing. POOH and L/D USIT. Fax logs to Anchorage for evaluation. 10. Run in with a 6-3/4" steerable drilling assembly and dress the cement to 5' below the section top. Prior to kickoff circulate hole clean so that it is free of cement. Kickoff and directionally drill to the target with 90° hole angle at 8710' TVDss as per the attached directional plan #5. Obtain gamma ray, neutron, and acoustic formation evaluation logs via drill pipe conveyed method starting from the top of the Sag River Formation. 11. Run a 5.5" 17 # L-80 liner assembly to bottom in the 6-3/4" hole. Space out liner top packer/hanger @ 150' above the highest possible problem spot inside of 7-5/8 casing. 12. Cement the liner in place with the total cement volume based upon 40 % open-hole enlargement plus the 80' shoe volume, 150' lap volume and 150' excess on top of the liner with drillpipe in the hole.
