BOP test
Nabors rig # 27.-E
BPX well E-13
Miine Point Field
PTD # 94-166
Monday~ March 13, 1995: I witnessed the weekly BOP test on Nabors rig # 22-E which was
drilling BPX well E-13 in the Milne Point Field.
I received the call at 0230 that the rig would be ready at approximately 0500. The test was started
at 0630. A Iow/high test of 300/5000 psi was put on all BOPE with the exception of the annular
preventer which was tested to 300/3000 psi. A recharge test was performed that showed the
accumulator was in satisfactory shape. The choke manifold Was tested with all valves operating
properly and holding their pressure test of 300/5000 psi.
The gas detection system was tested. Ali components functioned properly. E pad is not a
designated H2S area.
i found a possible Problem with the line that runs from the Choke manifold to the Gas buster.
Portions of this line are outside the rig and are not insulated or heat traced. Due to the extreme
cold weather we are encountering (-50), a possibility of fluids freezing exsisted. Laverne Linder
(Nabors Toolpusher) will have this line heat traced and insulated.
-SUMMARY: ! witnessed the weekly BOP test on Nabors rig # 22 E drilling BPX well E-13 in the
Milne Point Field. Test time 1 3/4 hours, no failures.

a full column of gas to the reservoir at 8700 TVDSS. Maximum anticipated surface pressure in this case
assuming a reservoir pressure of 4490 psi is 3610 psi, well below the internal yield pressure rating of the

FREEZE PROTECTION:
Pay close attention to annuli being used for disposal so to avoid freezing. Sometimes the
annuli are kept open by ensuring that an adequate volume (+60 bbls) is injected every
6-12 hours. This practice is more economical than pumping 60 bbls of diesel freeze
protection ever), time the pumps are shut down; however, if this practice is used, it is
important that the injection frequency into the annulus be adequate to prevent freeze
ups -- the drillers must communicate to each other the last time the
annulus was injected into to avoid freezing.

MPE-13 Proposed
Summary of Operations
1 Drill and Set 20" Conductor. Weld a starting head on conductor.
2. Prepare location for rig move, MIRU Nabors 22E drilling rig.
3. NU and test 20" Diverter system. Build Spud Mud.
.
MU 16" bit and MWD Dir and LWD (GR/RES), drill surface hole, and run and cement
13-3/8" casing.
5. ND 20" Diverter, NU and Test 13-5/8" B OPE.
o
Run Wear Ring. RIH w/ 12.25" PDC bit on a turbine w/ MWD Dir and LWD
(GR/CDR/CDN), Test 13-3/8" casing to 3000 psig for 30 minutes, Drill out float
equipment and 10 feet of new formation, Perform a LOT.
o
Drill 12.25" hole to +100' tvd above the C1 Kuparuk Sand. Wiper Trip, POOH, RU
Atlas and Run RFT's.
,
RIH with Steerable Assembly with MWD Dir and LWD (GR/CDR/CDN) and TD 12.25"
hole below the Ivishak Formation.
Wiper Trip to the 13-3/8" casing shoe. POOH and Down load logging data --
Evaluate logs.
10.
Based on the results of the logs across the Sag River and Ivishak formations, one
of the following options will be chosen.
Option 1'
Option 2'
Option 3:
If the Ivishak is economically productive, 9-5/8" casing will be run
and cemented as per this permit application. The well will then be
produced from the Ivishak.
If the Ivishak is not economically productive, but the Sag River
formation is, then this well will be plugged back and sidetracked to
become a horizontal wellbore into the Sag River formation. The is
all outlined in the MPE-13 ST Redrill Permit Application.
If neither the Ivishak or Sag River formations are economically
productive, then these formations will be P&A'ed, 9-5/8" casing will
be run across the Kuparuk, and the well will be completed as a
Kuparuk producer or injector -- based on the results of the Kuparuk
logs and RFT. If the Kuparuk has no potential, then the well will be
P&A'ed altogether.
Note' This permit application assumes that this well will become a Ivishak producer:
11.
12.
Change Top set of Pipe Rams to 9-5/8" and test bonnet seals to 3000 psig. Run and
Cement 9-5/8" Casing -- Two Stage Cement Job if the Kuparuk River formation is
hydrocarbon bearing.
Change Top set of Rams to 5" and test bonnet seals to 3000 psig.
13.
RIH with 8.5" bit and scraper, drill out ES Cementer, test casing to 3500 psig, and
perform casing wash, displace hole with 10.2 ppg brine and filter to 2 Micron
absolute.
14.
POOH and LD bit and Scraper, PU perforating guns and 9-5/8" champ packer, RIH
and underbalance perforate. Circulate well dead with 10.2 NaC1/Br brine.
15.
PU 9-5/8" inflatable bridge plug with Baker J Hydraulic setting tool and set at
2000'md. Test bridge plug to 3000 psig. Displace brine above bridge plug with
diesel freeze protection. POOH and LD remainder of 5" drill pipe.
16.
Run 13-5/8" False Bowl and set 6.812 BPV. ND BOPE and NU 13-5/8" holddown
flange, 13-5/8" x 7-1/16" Adapter Flange, and one FMC full opening 7-1/16"
Valve.
17. RDMO Nabors 22E Drilling Rig to the next well.
18.
An Electric Submersible Pump will be run on 2-7/8" Coil Tubing with
a Coil Tubing Unit to produce the well at a later date.
MPE-13 Permit Application 3 December 23, 1994
Drilling Hazards and Risks:
1. There was evidence of shallow gas/hydrates in the E-Pad area (Eo7
and E-8 wells); therefore, the MW schedule requires 9.3 ppg by 2000'
tvd. This practice was applied on the MPEol3 well and there was no
evidence of hydrate problems while drilling the surface hole.
2. Normal Pore Pressure of 9.7 ppg EMW is expected in the Sag River and
Ivashak wells which were tested in the A-1 well with no subsequent
production.
3. The Kuparuk reservoir may be depleted if the fault to the east
separating MPB-22 is not sealing; however, the reservoir pressure
should be no higher than virgin pressure of 9.9 ppg EMW.
3. No other drilling hazzards or risks have been identified for this well.

REMARKS:
Well MPE-13, API# 50-029-22536-00:
Real-time MWD/GR interval 120~ to 12870',
4-FEB-95 to 4-MAR-g5 in 16" hole.
Reached 13 3/8" casing point at 5212' 8-FEB-95.
This CDR MWD interval drilled 12371~ to 13565~,
4-MAR-95 to 11-MAR-95 for bit runs #1-2.
Run 1 CDR MAD interval 8185~ to 8429'; 8640~ to 8781'
Run 1 CDR MWD interval 12371' to 13295'
Run 2 CDR MAD interval 11920' to 12002'
Run 2 CDR MWD interval 13295' to 13565'
MWD data was depth-adjusted to Atlas GR.BCS.
MAD data was not depth-adjusted at all because the
MAD interval was above the available GR.BCS.
This is not the TD run of this well. This hole was
plugged-back and sidetracked at 10793' and then
drilled ahead with CDR to 12933'
Enhanced resistivity was reprocessed at AKICS.
The well name and API number of this well/hole was
verified 17-SEP-95 with Kevin Ivers of BP.
THIS TAPE REPLACES THE ONE DISTRIBUTED 10-MAY-95.
MORE AVAILABLE DATA WAS INCLUDED IN THIS FINAL PRODUCT.
