Re: P&A operations for well 15-38 in prep for a CTD sidetrack
Well 15-38 is scheduled for a through tubing sidetrack with the SLB/Nordic 1 Coiled Tubing Drilling rig. The
sidetrack, 15-38A, will exit the toe of the existing horizontal 4 ½" slotted liner and drill on to a Zone lA '"
reservoir target. The solid 2Y8" x 3-3/16" sidetrack completion liner will becemented in place. By placing the
TOC at 12,100' the plan is to preserve 60% of the slotted liner interval and the open perforations in the 7" liner
above. Production from the parent well will be isolated at the top of the liner using a retrievable packer.'/The
following describes the pre CTD prep work planned on 15-38 and is submitted as an attachment to Form 10-403.
A schematic diagram of the proposed sidetrack is attached for reference.
Pre CTD Summary
i~A'' service coil will drift the well with a slick nozzle BHA to TD:Any fill in the 4½" slotted liner will be
cleaned out during this run. Next, a 3.8" mill and motor BHA will be run. This will mill the tailpipe XN /''
nipple and again drift the 4½" slotted liner to TD. An injectivity test with Flo-Pro drilling fluid will then be /~
made to assess mud losses to the slotted liner section
CTD Sidetrack Summary
Nordic 1 CTD rig will MIRU with 2%" coil. After milling out the float equipment of the 4½" slotted liner,
-1900' of 3%" open hole will be drilled from the toe. This sidetrack will then be completed with solid 2~A'' x
3-3/16" which will be cemented in place. The objective is to put the cement top at 12,100', 430' above the
slotted liner shoe. This is to retain the option to production the parent well and to preserve future sidetrack
opportunities.
Nordic 1 will most likely move onto 15-38 on the 31st January 03.
The pre CTD work is slated to begin on Jan ,2003.

MIRU & PT equipment. RIH w/perforation gun & shot 4' of squeeze perfs at:
11386 - 11390' MD (Z1 B)
Add perfs shot using a 3-3/8" carrier. Shot the perfs at 6 spf at 60 degree phasing at balanced pressure.
POOH w/perf gun. Noted all shots fired. Rigged down.
9/14/97:
MIRU CTU & PT equipment. Loaded the wellbore w/Hot 1% KCI Water, then RIH & set an inflatable
straddle packer required for the squeeze. Set the straddle packers at 10380' & 10395' MD. Pumped
1% KCI Water down coil and confirmed injectivity through the squeeze perfs (listed above).
Disconnected from straddle assembly & POOH w/CT. RD.
9/15/97:
Pumped a Thixotropic Squeeze w/straddle packer for Gas Shutoff as follows:
MIRU CTU & PT equipment. Loaded 3.5 bbls of 14.1 ppg Thixotropic Cement into end of CT & RIH.
Stabbed into straddle packer assembly & injected 3.4 bbls of cement into the straddled squeeze perfs
(listed above). Jarred lick to release & POOH w/straddle assembly. Surface check of packers indicated
the bottom straddle packer may not have been fully inflated for the squeeze. Rigged down.
9/18/97:
RIH w/3.65" underreamer & reamed cement from 7" liner from 11311' to 11440' MD. Circulated well
clean w/biozan & 1% KCI Water. RIH w/underreamer to tag PBTD at 12495' MD. No indications seen
that squeeze cement ever got down into the 4.5" slotted liner. POOH w/underreamer. Rigged down.
Returned the well to production & obtained a valid welltest.

Enclosed is the approved application for permit to drill the above
referenced well.
The permit to drill does not exempt you from obtaining additional
permits required by law from other governmental agencies, and does not
authorize conducting drilling operations until all other required
permitting determinations are made.
Blowout prevention equipment (BOPE) must be tested in accordance with
20 AAC 25.035. Sufficient notice (approximately 24 hours) of the BOPE
test performed before drilling below the surface casing shoe must be
given so that a representative of the Commission may witness the test.
Notice may be given by contacting the Commission petroleum field
inspector on the North Slope pager at 659-3607.

PROPOSED DRILLING AND COMPLETION PROGRAM
DS15-38 Procedure
MIRU drilling rig. N/U diverter and function test same.
Drill 16" hole to surface casing point. Run and cement 13-3/8" surface casing.
Nipple up BOPE and function test same to 5000 psi.
PU 12-1/4" BHA and RIH. Test casing to 2800 psi for 30 minutes. Drill 10' of
new hole and perform leak off test.
Drill intermediate hole to intermediate casing point.
MU and run 9-5/8" casing string and cement as per well plan.
RIH and directional drill 8-1/2" hole to target. Log using MWD tools.
MU and RIH with 7" liner. RIH to TD. Cement same. Set liner hanger and
packer. Circulate excess cement from wellbore. POOH.
MU 6" MWD BHA and PU 3-1/2" DP. Clean out to 7" landing collar and test
casing to 3500 psi for 30 min.
Drill 10' of new hole, displace to FIo Pro mud system. Drill horizontal section as
per directional plat.
Make 7" scraper (spaced out) and 6" hole opener run to TD of 6" hole section.
Circulate 6" hole clean.
Run 4-1/2", L-80 slotted liner assembly with horizontal packer. Release from
packer and circulate FIo Pro mud system from outside and inside of liner with
sea water. Spot breaker in liner.
POOH & LDDP.
RIH with 4 1/2 x 4-1/2" L-80 completion with SSSV, GLM's, and 7 x 4-1/2"
packer. Displace well with seawater and corrosion inhibitor. Set packer, test
casing and tubing.
Set BPV. ND BOPs.
NU tubing head adaptor and tree. Test same. Pull BPV.
Freeze protect well thru shear valve in top GLM station.
Release rig.
