Update 1/23/25 Chris, KRU 1B-05 (PTD 177-001) passed a diagnostic MITIA on 1/14/25 (see attached 10-426) and passed an IA DDT on 1/19/25. The well was brought back on injection yesterday 1/22/25 to be put on a 30 day monitor. DHD attempted to adjust the IA pressure today for the 30 day monitor and after multiple IA bleeds, it appears the IA pressure increase is more than an IA thermal response to being brought back on injection. CPAI plans to have the well shut back in, freeze protected and secured for further diagnostics. Any proper paperwork for continued injection or corrective action will be submitted once diagnostics are completed and a plan forward is determined. A 90-day TIO trend and schematic are attached for reference. Please let me know if you disagree or have any questions with this plan. DHD passed pack off tests and the well was shut in and freeze protected 1/11/25. CPAI plans to have DHD perform diagnostics including a MITIA and IA-DDT. If the MITIA fails, the well will remain shut in and be secured for further diagnostics. If the MITIA and IA-DDT pass, the well will be brought back on injection and set up for a 30-day monitor. Any proper paperwork for continued injection or corrective action will be submitted once diagnostics and monitor period are completed and a plan forward is determined. The closure applications provided the required information describing the history of the reserve Pit(s), the present condition of the reserve pits(s), results of any required water sampling and an assessment of the potential risks posed by' the drilling waste to human health and the environment. ADEC coordinated field inspections and review of the closure plans with the appropriate landowners or land managers.-ADEC has determined that the backfilled reserve pits at these sites do not present a material or probable risk to the public health or the environment. Public notice requesting comments on the closure requests was published February 21 and 22, 2002 in the Anchorage Daily News and posted on the state web site February 21, 2002. FORM SA- lB MEMO, RAN DUM To: Homer L; Burrell Director Through: O. K. Gilbreth, Jr. Chief Petroleum State of Alaska < :.Department of Natural Resources "'/'Division of Otl and Gas ' DATE March 24, 1970 FRo~Te. onnie C. Smith Petroleum Engineer ' ": '"'~: /: '" SUBJECT, Inspection of BOP Equipment and .... Locations for Gulf Oil Corporation's Caribou Hills Unit No. 1 a~nd Standard of California's North Fork-Unit No. 11-4 .~ I traveled to Homer by automobile on March 20, arriving at Anchor Point at approximately 11:30 a.m. I drove in,on the North Fork River Road to the location.. of the North Fork Unit .No. 41-35 gas well. From this point a new road proceeds to the SOCAL well that is being drilled, but this road is unpassable at. the present time by automobile and only 4-wheel drive vehicles are being utilized. I proceeded to Homer and obtained a hotel room and rented a 4-wheel drive vehicle. I was unsuccessful in contacting the Gulf representative by telephone and proceeded to the Gulf rig unannounced, arriving at approximately 6:00 p.m. The Gulf representative, Mr. Buck Watson, showed me Gulf's blowout preventer test program along with their test records and explained how they had been testing the ." blowout preventers and manifold system. Gulf requires the BOP and manifold system'q be pressure tested approximately every 48 drilling hours. Mr. Watson showed me drill reports indicating that the system was tested on March 9, 11, 15 and 19 since the setting of the 10 3/4" surface pipe. We also discussed the problems in making the location, which had .approximately seven feet of snow, and especially the drain- age off of the location and to the reserve pit when breakup occurs. With the terrific amount of snow that is present a fast breakup could cause trouble, due to the reserve pit filling up from the extra water run off and probably running over, unless precautions are taken to prevent this occurrence. The well was drilling at approximately 7400' when I arrived. There no attempt made to pressure test the manifold and the blowout preventer equi.~ ::~ but drilling was stopped and the Hydril and pipe rams were actuated on the pipe. The Hydril closed in 15 seconds and the pipe rams closed in 7 seconds. reviewed the remote control system, the BOP's under the floor, the automatic choke and control, and 'the general layout of their rig. I was assured that the Kelly-cock valve was operated at each to'ur, and pressure tested along with the BOP. A ball- type stabbing valve was available on the floor. The Gulf representative informed me that a man walks the perimeter of the location once each 8-hour tour to inspect ~or possible contaminates or drainage off the pad. The road was in pretty good condition but it ts only a winter road and it will be unusable soon after breakup commences. Homer L. Burrell Page 2 March 24, I9 70 The next morning on March 21 I proceeded to Anchor Point and back to the North Fork Gas Well, where I was met by a representative from the SOCAL rig who drove me into the location over 8 miles of very bad muddy road. Breakup' problems have been pretty severe in this area, with little freezing at night, making the roads quite soft. I met Mr. Charlie Loeb, the' SOCAL drilling foreman on location, who accompanied me on my inspection of the rig and location. I was allowed to read ' the report that he had written concerning the oil that had drained off the north : side of the location, into a spring-fed'stream, which had carried pollutants some 8 miles to the north fork of the Anchor River. Mr. Loeb said when he first moved onto the Iocation he didn't realize there was a running stream under the snow in the ravine to the north and west of the location. (There is no stream shown in that . ' vicinity on the topography map of this area). When drilling the surface for the 20" ca'si the sand and gravel underlying the rig fractured, allowing mud ~nd water to come up 30 or 40 feet out from the rig, which was allowed to drain into the ravine instead of back to the reserve pit on the east side of the rig. Most of this was underneath the snow and ice and when the weather warmed up a very quick breakup occurred with consider- able run off down across the location which carried the normal accumulation of oil drippings and collected pollutants off the location pad into the stream drainage system'.' Since the mn off they have const~'ctE 1 the way around the location, includ-. · . ing a lot Of area that was ,n6t'"'?6rigina he pad and also have dug an additional pit to provide'...' A Magobar 5,000 psi automatic adjustable choke was in- stalled on the choke manifold. In general I would say the rig on this locati, on was in good order, however, I did note that there was a lot of trash and sacks piled over the outside of the berm area on the northwest corner of the original pad. At one point I questioned Mr. Loeb Homer L. Burrell Page 3 March 24, 1970 about this and he told me they had mc~ ed the burn pit since they had built the n~w berms and that trash should not now be dumped at thi~ point. I informed him that the burn pit area should be inside the total berm area and requested that he move this trash. Mr. Loeb agreed to move the trash before burning it. I traveled out of the location with Mr. Coleman, picked up my.vehicle and returned to Homer at approximately ll:00 a.m., and to Anchorage at approxi- mately 7:00 p.m. LCS:jw 1.
