Ernie Barndt was Phillips Rep. in charge of SVS testing. Testing was conducted in a safe & efficient manner. ! witnessed one failure, the LPP failed to trip above 50% of primary separator pressure. The pilot was re-tested & passed the re-test. The AOGCC test report is attached for reference. i conducted 25 well house inspections on 1Y Pad. The majority of the houses were in good shape w/no problems witnessed. Well houses # 30 & 22 were found w/the well house lids resting on the tree cap gauges. The VSM for the flow line on well # 29 looked as if it had shifted up & had the line in a slight bind. I asked Phillips Rep. Pete Nezaticky to inspect this line. Prudhoe Bay Field has had problems w/VSM's shifting up & I wanted to make sure KRU Rep's were aware of this problem. .SUMM .A..,.Ry: I witnessed SVS testing in Kuparuk River Field. 16 wells, 32 components tested. 1 failure witnessed. 3.13% failure rate. 25 well house inspections conducted. SUNDAY 6-6-93 1 returned to Arcos 1-Y pad in the Kuparuk river field to witness the initial BOP test on Parkers rig//245 drilling well//23. The test went well with two failures observed, these being the lower pipe rams and the floor safety valve, both were repaired and retested before I left location. I find it a pleasure to test on this rig as the Toolpusher and crew seem committed to having the best rig on the slope and have developed a good procedure for testing the B.O.P.E. The area surrounding the rig was clean and orderly even though there was a unusually large amount of pipe on the pad (stacked neatly). Maximum anticipated surface pressure is calculated using a surface casing leak-off of 13.5 ppg EMW and a gas gradient of 0.11 psi/ft. This shows that formation breakdown would occur before a surface pressure of 2135 psi could be reached. Therefore, ARCO Alaska, Inc. will test the BOP equipment to 3000 psi. The nearest well to 1Y-23 is 1Y-22. As designed, the minimum distance between the two wells would be 30' @ 1700' MD. The wells would diverge from that point. Incidental fluids developed from ddlling operations will be hauled to the nearest permitted disposal well or will be pumped down the surface/production casing annulus of the last well ddlled. That annulus will be left with a non-freezing fluid during any extended shut down (> 4hr) in pumping operations. The annulus will be sealed with 175 sx of cement followed by arctic pack upon completion of fluid pumping. *Spud mud should be adjusted to a FV between 80-100 sec/qt to drill gravel beds.
