C-80 lithology began with 50%-60% claystone with 10%-20% sands/sandstones. As the depth increases,
clay/claystone decreases in bedding structure and around 3900’ MD 30ft-50ft of tuff was deposited. At the
end of C-80, sands/sandstone increases in size to 50%-60% with black lithics and siltstone replacing the
clay/claystone.
Siltstone (3845-3890) = dark gray to grayish black with occasional brownish black and olive gray colors;
crumbly to brittle with moderate induration tenacity; slight earthy to hackly fracture; tabular to bladed with
elongated wedgelike edges cutting habits; dull to earthy luster; matte to sucrosic texture; thin to thick
bedding structure no HCL reaction.
Tuff (3900-3950) = yellowish gray to light greenish gray with slight milky cream color; clotted to mushy
consistency; malleable to very poor induration tenacity; irregular fracture; nodular to elongated rounded
cutting habits; greasy to waxy when wet and dull to waxy when dry luster; colloidal to clayey texture; soft
sediment deformation to thin bedding structure; no HCL reaction.
Sand/Conglomerate Sands (3960-4010) = black to dark gray dominated with occasional clear to
translucent, greenish gray, light brownish gray, and light olive gray colors; unconsolidated sands; very fine
to coarse grain size; poor to very poorly sorting; sub-rounded to very angular angularity; moderate to very
low sphericity; trace pyrite; thick bedding structure; weak and moderate HCL reaction in bulk sample.

Campanian Sands lithology started with claystone reentering from 4011’-4080’ MD, but sand/sandstone
still dominant at 70%. From 4080’-4600’ MD 70%-80% of claystone was deposited. Only small change
between 4080’-4600’ MD was a thin layer of conglomerate sands at 4350’ MD. Throughout 4600’-
4900’MD, sands/sandstones and claystones are layer on top of each and continuous until 4900’MD.
Siltstone enters at 5200’ MD and replaces claystone as depth increase. From 5200’-6200’ MD, siltstone
remove by an increase of claystone and sandstone with an in 15 unit background gas. Around 6200’-6300’
claystone take another exit and replace by siltstone (20%-10%). Also, propane (C-3) enters around 6300’
MD. Finally from 6700’-7400’ MD, sandstone has a massive bedding structure with no oil indictors.

4.3 Quantitative Methods
The primary indicators used for PPG evaluation were gas trends relative to mud weight (MW) and effective
circulating density (ECD), including increases in background gas (BG), appearance and trends of connection
gas (CG), and magnitudes of trip gas (TG) and wiper gas (WG). Regional pore pressure trends from sonic
data, provided by ConocoPhillips, and surface manifestations of hole conditions were also considered.
As a reference, PPG is calculated initially with a formula provided by Canrig Drilling Technology LTD, and then
modified using the indicators described above, DXC and resistivity (RES) data. The formula uses DX, ECD,
and BG as measured by total ditch gas:
PPG = ECD – (0.6-((.001*TLGSU) + (0.05*DX)))
The formula has certain limitations, such that it does not allow for a PPG more than 1 ppg less than the ECD,
and TLGSU must be differentiated from show gas and gas carried from over pressure zones, and is
dependent on reliable DX data. However, the formula proved useful in helping formulate a PPG range, when
estimating trends, as with DXC data, with data points in shale intervals.

Samples throughout the show were rather consistent, but the fluorescence was the best in the middle of
the show; the sample at 10,400’ was the only one to have a flash cut. The other samples did have good
fluorescence in the show interval.
