September 11, 2012 12-GEN -108 Mike Cook, Petrotechnical Resources Alaska 3601 C St #822 Anchorage, AK 99503 Subject: P&A Work Peak Oilfield Service Company, Contract #2011 -008 Project: CIP No. 68090/68091: Barrow Gas Fields Well Drilling Program Description: Cut off depth of Plug and Abandoned Wells on the project Dear Mr. Cook: This letter is to confirm the completion of the Plug and Abandonment activities for the Barrow Gas Fields Well Drilling Program. As you know the following wells were Plugged and Abandoned over the course of the project. Walakpa #2 8 - ® 7 NSB -02 SB -13 SB -11 SB -08 EB -20 EB -19 EB -21 EB -15 For each well the Plug and Abandonment procedure was followed by Peak. After Haliburton completed the cement job, our crews excavated around the wellhead. Once the area was excavated and a confined space permit was opened, a measurement was taken from the existing ground level down three feet. In each case a representative of PRA or the NSB was on site to ensure that the cut off mark was 3 ft below the existing ground level. Once this cut off mark was verified, the well head was cut off, either with a cutting torch or in one case, with a guillotine saw. At this point Halliburton came back and completed a top job for the wells in which it was needed, the well maker plate was welded on and the excavated area was backfilled. This can be confirmed by the photos that were taken during the procedures and by the PRA & NSB representatives. If you have any questions or need any additional information please don't hesitate to contact me. Peak is continuing to remove the tree this morning, and will add cement as needed to top off all annuli and tubing prior to welding cap as per procedure. Thanks for your help on this issue. Matt sent a correction to the original email to clarify that it was 7 x 9 5/8 annulus, not the 9 5/8 by 13 3/8 annulus. Matt also just called with an update from his visit to the well, and said that the drill hole is very small, and that it is a tiny leak that is diminishing slowly, but seemingly low pressure. He said he finally found the hole, and felt he could cut the flow by putting his thumb over it. He believes that when we bullheaded cement down the 7 x 9 5/8, we built up some pressure on the side of the production liner opposite where we injected cement, and perhaps left a bubble of gas. I hope by the next update, it will be gone. He is going to send you the reports on the P &A operation. Please feel free to call me (230 -9840) or Matt (771 -1003) with any questions, and we'll update again in the morning, or if we have more news, earlier. I think I had a mental disconnect when Matt Coullahan told me it was NSB -02, as I was recalling the surface gas issues we encountered on that well prior to successfully plugging the well. Also, it is the 9 5/8" x 7" annulus in which we encountered the gas. Matt's email below summarizes the current situation, and Matt is on his way out there to monitor for gas, as it has been a couple of hours since the casing was drilled and gas escaped. I'll provide an update as soon as I hear back from Matt, but I remain hopeful that it is indeed a bubble that will dissipate 4/19/2012 Page 2 of 2 • 0 rapidly so we can continue with the P &A of the well. If you have questions about the cementing procedure and results, John Crisp witnessed the P &A, or our folks on the ground at the time would be able to provide more detail as well. Thanks, Tom From: Matt Coullahan Sent: Wednesday, April 18, 2012 2:03 PM To: Tom Walsh Subject: NSB -02 Tom, Attached is a photo of NSB -02 as it is currently. As you can see the 20" conductor has been cut away to expose the 13 -3/8" casing. The 13 -3/8" casing has a small rectangular section that was cut away to expose the 9 -5/8" casing. A hole was then drilled into the 9 -5/8" casing so that we could check for gas prior to proceeding with out cut off procedure. This is where the gas is coming from. The 9 -5/8" was cemented to surface (1,400' bottom) with 933 sack of permafrost cement according to the Well Completion report. Per the procedure Halliburton rigged up to the outer 9 - 5/8" by 13 -3/8" annulus and displaced 4 bbls down there. The pressure increased rapidly to 900 psi as we squeezed the cement down there. This may have compressed any trapped gas into a "bubble ". We will continue to monitor the situation and report back to you. Barrow NSB -02 - PTD 1870720 Barrow, Alaska March 23, 2012: I traveled from witnessing the initial BOPE test on Kuukpik 5 drilling Walakpa #13 to South Barrow NSB -02 (PTD 1870720) near Barrow, Alaska to witness cement pumped for permanent abandonment. witnessed the pressure test of Halliburton pumps & hard line to 2500 psi. - Injection rate was established pumping down the outer annulus of NSB -02 with 5 bbls of diesel pumped at 1 /2 bpm and a pressure of 170 psi. Tubing & inner annulus pressures are in communication — I witnessed 800 psi gas pressure. Abandonment crew began bleeding pressure on the inner annulus from 800 psi to 580 psi. There were 80 bbls of 13.7 ppg cement pumped down tubing & I observed 5 bbls returned from the annulus; returned cement weighed 13 ppg. An ' average pressure of 345 psi was observed with max pressure w/ max pressure observed to be 580 psi @ 2.2 bpm. Next, 5 bbls of 13.7 ppg cement was squeezed into the inner annulus with tubing shut in; squeeze rate was 0.8 bpm at 417 psi. Perform surface demolition work. Remove wellhouse and production flow line per Conam Tigiak contracted work scope. 12. Prior to excavation, either the onsite company man or a surveyor will mark the existing ground level on the conductor pipe. 13. Excavate around the conductor casing at 6 ft below ground level. Peak will utilize either a 200 or 400 size excavator, rented from Umiaq, with a frost bucket. 14. The size of the excavation will be roughly 5 ft from the conductor casing to the bottom edge of the excavation. Three sides of the excavation will have side slopes of 1:1. The fourth side of the excavation will have a side slope of 3:1. This will allow easier access into the excavation for cutting off the conductor. 15. Prior to entering the excavation, a confined space permit will be opened. This includes testing with an atmospheric testing meter. 16. The cut mark on the conductor casing will be measured 3 ft below the initial existing ground mark, made prior to excavation. The welder will then mark the cut line around the conductor. A second line will be marked roughly 1 ft above the cut line. 17. A drill will be used to drill 3 to 4 small holes 1 /4" to 1 /2" in diameter along the cut line. As the welder drills through the metal pipe, he will look to see if there are cement cuttings as well as metal. 18. The atmospheric testing meter will be used to test the air inside of the conductor at each of drill holes. 19. Prior to cutting, the excavator bucket will be extended over the tree. The tree will be attached to the excavator with approved lifting devices (straps). The bucket will be raised to load the attached straps in tension. 20. Once it has been verified that the air is suitable for hot work, the welder will begin cutting the conductor along the first cut line. He will also cut on the line roughly one ft above the bottom cut line. In two places he will cut from line to line. (Peak will fill out the clients hot work permit if required for cutting the pipe). 21. This section of the pipe will be removed. 22. The cement from inside the conductor pipe will be removed. 23. Steps 15, 16, 18, 19, and 20 will be repeated for each section of pipe. 24. After the final cut has been made the excavator will be used to raise the tree and pipe and set to the side. 25. The company man will verify that the cement is to the top of the pipes. 26. The welder will weld the top plate to the top of the conductor. 27. Pictures will be taken by the company man. o P ( - IRA. 20 Mz (Zd 2 NSB Wells Drilling PrograiPlug & Abandonment • 28. All equipment will be removed from the conductor hole and backfill around the conductor will begin with the existing material. Additional gravel will be brought in to dress the fill, leaving a mound above the conductor pipe to account for eventual settling of the material. At least 30% overfill will be used to account for the settling. 29. The tree will be hauled to the land fill and other equipment demobilized. Equipment and Supplies List 1. This well adds additional gas deliverability from the South Barrow Gas Field to the village of Barrow Alaska, and augments production from the East Barrow Gas Field which is expected to decline significantly within three years. Initial testing sugggested that the well will produce comfortably at 350 - 450 Mcf/day as currently complete (Figure 1). However, due to village gas demand, increasing the performance of this well is desirable. Fracture stimulation of SB #13, a 160 acre offset to NSB #2, increased production from a calculated rate of 160 Mcf/day when the well was initially tested, to actual production of 400 MCF/day, with a maximum measured rate of 1178 Mcf/day through a 24/64" choke at 500 psig. Based on this experience, we feel that NSB #2 deliverability would also benefit from fracture treatment, particularly when the lithologic nature of the reservoir is considered (Appendix I). The planned procedures will closely follow those employed for the nitrogen foam fracture treatment of SB #13, methods which are also planned for stimulation of NSB #1. Fracture design will be per specifications in Appendix II following the specific detailed procedures as identified on the following page. We currently expect proposed operations to begin on or about April 15, 1988. NSB #2 Ope. Sumary North Slope Borough Page 2 of 2 02/03/88 Detailed Operations Plan The stimulation of NeB #2, as detailed in the following, will commence with a general meeting between Halliburton and Barrow Gas Field Development personnel to review general safety and procedures for Arctic operations. Description of Operation & Materials · General rig-up of Halliburton equipment at NSB #1 wellsite. · Test nitrogen lines to 5000 psi; bleed nitrogen down to 2000 psi. 3. Test Csg. The following description is based solely on sidewall cores. The main reservoir section for NSB #2 is the Upper & Lower Barrow Sandstone which is a short clastic event in the Jurassic Kingak Shale. The formation is composed of 87' of brownish gray, to light brown, fine to very fine grain glauconitic sandstone, interbedded with siltstones and thin shale stringers. Sidewall core porosity averaged 26.5%, kh = 40.6 md and Sw estimated from wireline logs at approximately 50%. The Upper Barrow tends to be glauconitic and heavily burrowed, while the Lower Barrow shows few preserved burrows, with only minor glauconite. The Lower Barrow is coarser grained with better sorting than the Upper Barrow. Submit in oup icate~ _ Form 10-407 Rev. 7-1 ~80 CONTINUED ON REVERSE SIDE 29. The following are the results from the buildup analysis: Permeability thickness 55.363 md ft. Effective permeability to gas 2. 768 md Reported thickness 20.000 ft. Extrapolated reservoir pressure 895.680 psi Skin damage 2.125 Pressure drop due to skin 58.000 psi The total pressure drop across completion is 267 psi, out of which the pressure drop due to skin is 58 psi, which includes the effects of turbulance. A flow after flow test would indicate the pressure drop due to turbulance and pressure drop due to formation damage. Knowing this, we can determine whether an acid job would increase the production rate significantly. Physical properties of gas used in the calculations were from correlations.
