Re: Standard Oil Co. of CalifOrnia
#1 Nimiuk
I took the liberty of having two small chips of core from the interval 6299-
6305 analyzed by Chemical and Geological Laboratories of Alaska, Inc. These
chips were a brown translucent mineral which is associated with the dark
dOlomites of this core.
Test results showed this mineral to be a zinc sulfide containing 56% zinc,
2.1% iron and 20%+ acid insoluble residue which resembled sulfur. Some
reations with HCL was noted and was probably from a dolomite portion although
sample was not tested for calcium and magnesium~
'It is my opinion from visual examination and.laboratory test that.this is an
impure sphalerite.
Sincerely yours,
' Ronald Brockway /
