Log analysis indicates faulting in the pay zone. It is therefore proposed that the original wellbore be plugged back to allow sidetracking to a new bottomhole location. This procedure provides plug back details. 1) RIH with open ended drillpipe to about 7890' and spot 300' high vis pill. 2) POH to 7600'. 3) Using log caliper volume, set a balanced plug from 7600'-7300' to abandon the Kuparuk Sands. 4) POH to 5400' and spot 300' high vis pill. 5) POH to 5100'. 6) Using the caliper volume, set a 300' balanced plug for kick off. 7) POH and WOC. 8) RIH with bit and dress plug to about 4950'. 9) Kick off and begin drilling 1Y-26A. I traveled 't0"AAI 1Y-26 and inspected the Diverter system. The system has 2 - 10" hydraulically controlled valves connected to the conductor pipe below the annular preventor. The vent lines exit the substructure and travel in opposite directions. One of the lines has 5 - 90° turns in it and the others have 3. The reason for the numerous turns, is due to the rig drill- ing between two existing'wells, so the turns were added to clear existing wells and flow lines so the ends of the vent lines would be an acceptable distance from the rig. This diverter system has 2- 10" lines which divert in different directions and is approved by the AOGCC. The~ system meets the AOGCC Regulations. The system had been function test before I arrived and the rig was drilling so I.did not require another test. Maximum anticipated surface pressure is calculated using a surface casing leak-off of ll.f ppg EMW and a gas gradient of .11 psi/ft. This shows that formation breakdown would occur before a surface pressure of 3000 psi could be reached. Therefore, ARCO Alaska, Inc. will test our BOP equipment to 3000,psi. After 443' of departure, there are no well bores within 200' of this proposed well. In accordance with Area Injection Order No. 2, excess non-hazardous fluids developed from well operations and those fluids necessary to control the fluid level in reserve pits will be pumped down the surface/production casing annulus. The annulus will be left with a non-freezing fluid during any extended shutdown in disposal operations.
