Subject: MGS St 17595 11 PTD 165-017_Sundry_325-260
Good morning, Bryan.
Yesterday on the Baker 11 well, we were able to clean out the SS with coil down to 7,242’before the
motor stalled out. All indications from the coil work and the subsequent eline run suggest that we
encountered cement at that depth. That puts the cement tag very close to the bottom of the short
string at 7,279’ KB.
Attached is the CBL run last night. Eline tagged at 7,240’ and the CBL shows cement top in the IA at
4,430’. Per the conditions of approval in Sundry 325-260, we are seeking your approval to
move forward with laying in cement in the SS from 7,240’.
Thank you,
Casey Morse

Re: 20 AAC 25.300 (Request for Information) — Status of Oil and Gas Wells
Dear Ms. Foerster:
In response to your June 22, 2009 letter requesting a plan of action and timing for such activities
associated with the referenced list of inactive wells, please find attached a table with the requested
information.
As indicated in the table, Marathon anticipates a measured program of P&A activities, averaging
three -to -five well abandonments per year. Marathon has already begun such a program with its
offshore wells, beginning with the Spark Platform wells in 2009.
All of the onshore wells on the list are within active oil and gas leases that are regularly visited and
inspected.
Marathon anticipates updating plans for its inactive wells in the appropriate annual Plan of
Development for each property. Any and all forward activities are subject to funding approval.
Please also note that your June 22 letter erroneously referenced "KU 41-08". We believe that your
June 22 letter reference to well "KU 41-08" was a typo and is intended to refer to Well KU 41-18.
This well matches the referenced drilling permit (171-010).
Should you have any questions or wish to review the attached plans with us, please feel free to call
Lyndon Ibele at (907) 565-3042.
Sincerely,
U

Dear Mr. Schoffman:
The records of the Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission (Commission)
indicate that the oil and gas wells on the attached list that are operated by Marathon Oil
Company have been inactive for five years or longer.
If, for any listed well, Marathon Oil Company believes the Commission's information is

plugged and abandoned, suspended, converted to a water well, or converted to an
injection well—and provide all documentation relevant to the well's correct status.
If, for any listed well, Marathon Oil Company agrees that the Commission's information
is correct, by August 3, 2009, please identify the plans, including the schedule, to plug
and abandon the well, suspend the well, return the well to production, or convert the
well to a water well or injection well.
This request is made pursuant to 20 AAC 25.300. Responding does not relieve

RECOMMENDATION
Recommended is a through tubing casing plug to be set above the watered out Pool #4 'B-2'
perforations in the KU #11-6L. The successful completion of this project will have applicability to
additional wells in the Kenai Gas Field with watered out lower perforations.
This project will utilize a Schlumberger PosiSet plug for 7-5/8" casing to isolate the watered out B-2
perforations. This plug has a 1000 psi differential pressure rating once set. The differential pressure
rating is increased to 3700 psi by placing 10' of cement on top of the plug. The SBHP of the Pool 3
and Pool 4 reservoirs are 296 psig and 306 psig respectively. The plug will thus be set without
cement in the KU #11-6L. The contingency of dump bailing cement at a later date is maintained.
Your approval of this recommended procedure is requested.

Inspect wellhead and building for slickline and wireline operations. RU chicksans and iron to tree.
RU pump with 55 gallons of methanol. Commence pumping methanol down tubing to remove
obstruction. Note: A 2.25" GR tagged sand and soap stick fill 8 feet from surface on 02-18-1997.
Suspected is sand and soap sticks stuck in grease near surface. Maximum pump pressure should be
1,000 psig. RD pump, chicksans and iron.
.
RU Slickline Unit. Install lubricator with BOP. Pressure test lubricator/BOP to wellhead pressure.
Have shifting tool on location for 2-7/8" OD 'Baker' Model 'L' sliding sleeve (Well history
indicates sliding sleeves are P. S. I. Model 'L' sliding sleeves.) Run in the hole with a 2.25" gauge
ring, and spang jars to 4250' KB (PosiSet Plug is 2.18" OD). Historically, a 2.25" OD scratcher
has always passed through completion equipment. Note any obstructions or fill. If tubing is
'sticky' then make scratcher runs followed by another GR run. RIH with shifting tool and verify
single Model 'L' sliding sleeve at 3994' is closed. RD Slickline Unit.
.
Mobilize crane. RU Schlumberger WL equipment. RU full lubricator. Pressure test lubricator to
1,000 psig with methanol. RI/-I w/PosiSet Plug for set in 7-5/8" 26.4 lbm/ft casing with CCL tool.
Note all equipment will have to pass through 2.25" ID restrictions. RIH and correlate depth to
Schlumberger GR/Neutron/CCL dated 6-28-65 - Note GR/Neutron/CCL is 1' shallow to
Schlumberger FDC dated 6-25-65. Have on location 1-11/16" GR logging tool. Set PosiSet Plug
to have elements at 4141' KB on GR/Neutron/CCL. (This depth is 6 feet above B-2 perfs and
corresponds to 4140' KB on Open hole logs). Following plug set drop down and tag to verify
location and integrity. RD Schlumberger wireline services.
Verify all necessary flow equipment is in place and kick well to sales, at maximum possible rate.
The minimum unloading rate at 200 psig is 0.8 MMCFGPD. Clean up location and report daily
rates to Anchorage office for seven (7) days.

Dear Ms. Miller:
On December 13, 1989 Halliburton Wireline Services ran in well KU 11-6 with a
2 1/8" Dynastrip gun and perforated the interval 4165'-4209' MD at 4 SPF and
0 degrees phasing:
After firing, the gun became stuck in the casing. After working the line for
several hours it pulled out of the cable head at 43'.
Everything was subsequently fished out of the well and operations were
suspended due to the eruption of Mount Redoubt.
Operations were resumed on January 19, 1990. Halliburton Wireline Services
ran in the well with I 11/16" Dynastrip guns and perforated the interval 4081'-
4129' at 4 SPF and 0 degrees phasing:
