Box 100360 Anchorage, AK 99510-.0360 Re: Final Location Clearance Inspection KRU Winter Trails No. 1 Dear Mr. Ruedrich: A review of our records shows that final location clearance for the above referenced well has not been approved. The well bore of this well was plugged and abandoned in March, 1986. in compliance with Section 170(a) of our regulations, "It]he location of an abandoned well onshore or upon a historically stable island must be cleared within one year following well abandonment or .... " Section 170(b) provides the means for an extension of time if a valid reason exists, and Section 170(c) provides for an on-site inspection. We are, therefore, requesting a schedule from you for this summer when our field inspectors can accompany your representative to the above referenced well site for final location clearance inspection. Thursday_, March .6, 1986:_ ARCO performed a continuous three-stage cement PIu~g from 3850' open hole up to and inside 13 3/8 casing to 2190' 265' above 13 3/8 shoe that was set at 2455' At 11:45 a.m. I witnessed the first tag of the cement which was green, and the 4~" open-ended drill pipe went to 2454' with 10,000 lb. weight loss on indicator showing cement had hardened to a point. Four stands of pipe were pulled and circulating the volume of mud was performed. We waited for the cement to set about four more hours until 2:45 p.m. This time the open-ended pipe dropped weight on indicator at 2190', about 10,000 psi for an instant, but cement was still green. Samples were taken of the cement and it set up hard in about three hours at the surface. I called the office about 4:00 p.m. and received okay to run an EZ drill or packer above first showing of cement and then pressure test the 13 3/8 casing. At 7:30 p.m. I witnessed an EZ drill bridge plug set at 2145', and the casing pressure tested from the EZ drill to the surface at 1450 psig for 15 minutes without any leakoff. I made a schematic and received data from ARCO which is attached. In summa~f: When the cement plugs and EZ drill were set and pressure tested, they were satisfactorily performed for ARCO KRU Winter Trails No. 1.
