KRU 3J-11 Single Well Chemical Tracer Test
PTD 185-251
API 50-029-21468-00
Well KRU 3J-11 is a Single Well Tracer Test subject well. The purpose of the test is to evaluate the
efficacy of the Alkali/Surfactant/Polymer process in recovering oil from the Kuparuk C-sand after
waterflood. The well will have had 5600 barrels of PW injected, which will include 1071 bbls of ASP
process chemicals. Analysis of the oil recovery potential will be performed using tracers that are
injected and returned with the produced fluids. Prior to returning the well to production, the ASP
fluids need to be segregated from the normal production stream and disposed. C.---4IV

INSTRUCTIONS
General' This form is designed for submitting a complete and correct well completion report and log on
all types of lands and leases in Alaska.
Item 1' Classification of Service Wells: Gas injection, water injection, steam injection, air injection, salt
water disposal, water supply for injection, observation, injection for in-situ combustion.
Item 5: Indicate which elevation is used as reference (where not otherwise shown) for depth measurements
given in other spaces on this form and in any attachments.
Item 16 and 24: If this well is completed for separate production from more than one interval (multiple
completion), so state in item 16, and in item 24 show the producing intervals for only the interval reported
in item 27. Submit a separate form for each additional interval to be separately produced, showing the

ARCO' s KRU 3J-l!
Permit No. 85-251
Kuparuk River Field
S..unday, D.e.c..ember 15, 1985: I was informed there was oil and diesel
seePing around the 9 5/8"~ casing. I called Lonnie Smith and informed
him about ARCO's 3J-'ll well at 11:00 PM this date. I left Rowan 34-
and went to Conoco C-19 Nabor's Rig 27E, to do a BOPE test. ~'
Monday, December 16, 1985: During the Nippling up of the BOPE on the
9 '5/8" Casing of ARC'0"s 3J-11 well, it was noted a trickle of Arctic
Pack was bubbling out from the 16" x 9 5/8" annulus.
Further investigation showed the oil was coming from ARCO's 3J-9
well; during the pumping of the Fluid Down the 7" on 3J-9, the Fluid
coming around the 16" x 9 5/8" on 3J-11 increased. When the pumping
of the Fluid was stopped on 3J-9, the flow on 3J-11 slowed down. a
temperature survey revealed a hole in the 9 5/8" casing on 3J-9 well
at about 40' RKB. There was an additional top job on well 3J-11
which consisted of 7 BBLS (35 SKS) of "G" cement w/3% S14 and 2% D46~
Dowell did the top job. (There will be a CBL and GYRO survey run on
3J-9 well.)
I stayed around the rig for the integrity test on the 9~5/8" casing
on ARCO's 3J-11. There was 2,000 psig pressure held on the casSng
for 30 minutes with no pressure drop. Therefore, the 9 5/8" casing
on ARCO's 3J-11 well is secure. The oil continued to seep around the
outside of the 9 5/8"during the top job. The 9 5/8" casing will be
monitored hourly. If a change in flow occurs, the A.O.G.C.C. office
will be notified.
A-fI~t
ARCO Representative, Keith Bullard informed me that ARCO was ~>~'
circulating do~m the 2 7/8" tubing up/th~.~y ..~slng so the 9 5/~"
casing would not freeze and collapse.~-~'~ o. ~'- --. .//;

The BOPE test was in progress which I arrived at 2:45 PM. ARCO

three hours, there was one failure. The Upper Kelly Valve failed.
The repairs were made on Upper Kelly Valve and tested to 3,000

I left ARCO's Kuparuk 3J-11 and drove to ARCO's Prudhoe Bay DS 4-24,

Dear Mr. Kewin:
Enclosed is the approved application for permit to drill the
above referenced well.
The permit to drill does not indemnify you from the probable need
to obtain additional permits required by law from other
governmental agencies prior to commencing operations at the well
site.
To aid us in scheduling field work, please notify this office 24
hours prior to commencing installation of the blowout prevention
equipment so that a representative of the Commission may be
present to witness testing of the equipment before the surface
casing shoe is drilled. ~ere a diverter system is required,
please also notify this office 24 hours prior to commencing
equipment installation so that the Commission may witness testing
before drilling below the shoe of the conductor pipe.

ARCO Alaska, Inc., proposes to drill a Kuparuk River Field development well to approximately 8016' MD (6716'
TVD). Selected intervals will be logged. A 20", 2000 psi annular diverter will be installed on the 16"
conductor while drilling the surface hole. A 13-5/8", 5000 psi, RSRRA BOPE stack will be installed on the
9-5/8" surface pipe. The stack and related equipment will be tested to 3000 psig upon installation and weekly
~pected maximum surface pressure is 2945 psi. Pressure calculations are based on virgin reservoir
pressure. Surface pressure is calculated with an unexpanded gas bubble at surface, including temperature
effects. Casing will be tested to 3000 psi prior to releasing the drilling rig. Non-freezing fluids will be
left in uncemented annuli through the permafrost interval. 3J-ll will be 25' away from 3J-lO at SURFACE. There
are no closer wellbores anywhere downhole. Reserve pit fluids will be disposed of by pumping them down the 7" x
9-5/8" annulus of this well. The 7" x 9-5/8" annulus will be left with a non-freezing fluid during any
interruptions in the disposal process. (continued on attached sheet)

Upon completion of the disposal process, the._9-5/8" x_Z~_~anu].Us will be sealed with a minimum of 175 sx cement
followed by Arctic Pack. The well will be completed by the workover rig using 3-1/2" or 2-7/8" tubing.
Selected intervals will be perforated within the Kuparuk formation and reported on subsequent reports. A
subsurface safeby valve will be installed and tested upon conclusion of the job. After the workover rig has
moved off location, this well will be fracture s-timulated.
