To: AOGCC Well file DATE: May 13, 2022
FROM: Bryan McLellan
AOGCC Sr. Petroleum Engineer
SUBJECT: Eureka 1 Orphan Well Site Survey
Well Names: Eureka 1 (PTD 100-007)
Operator: None (Orphan Well). Aledo Oil Company.
Objective: Locate and map orphan well and associated debris, reserve pits and other features
relevant to future well plugging and site clearance operations.
Attachments:
• Photos, including Aerial drone images of the site and features are located in the
AOGCC wellfile.
• DNR survey map generated after this site visit, with GPS coordinates of wells
and other features also located in the wellfile.
Observations:
I traveled by car to the wellsite near Milepost 125 of the Glenn Highway with Steve Davies, AOGCC staff
Geologist. I was met by a survey crew from Alaska DNR (Joe Donohue and Randy Guidu). The date of
the site visit was selected such that the area would be free of snow cover, but before new vegetation
concealed the debris and wells. A late season snowfall the night before our visit partially covered the
ground surrounding the wells, however the well was located and the snow did not obscure the major
features at the location.
There is good vehicle access to the wellsite from the Glenn Highway and a staging area for heavy
equipment could be established with minimal work. The site appears to be a camping spot and trail
access point for recreational vehicles.
The well was easily identified with a marker post present and sign identifying the well. A small pond was
located nearby which should be investigated as a possible reserve pit.
