Repair work was delayed due to a bent GLV that obstructed well work below that depth. Once the GLV issue was solved, repair work continued and a 25' OAL 2.72" WFT retrievable tubing patch was set across station#11. Passing MITs were acquired and the well was BOL. Each of these wells was found to have a void in the conductor. These voids were filled with cement if needed and corrosion inhibitor, engineered to prevent water from entering the annular space. As per previous agreement with the AOGCC, this letter and spreadsheet serves as notification that the treatments took place and meets the requirements of form 10-404, Report of Sundry Operations. The attached spread sheet presents the well name, top of cement depth prior to filling and volumes used on each conductor. I. Supervisor FROM: Matt Herrera SUBJECT: Surface Casing Repair Petroleum Inspector KRU 1R-16 CPAI PTD 1851530; Sundry 317-121 July 2, 2017: I traveled out to Kuparuk Drill site 1R well # 16 to inspect a surface casing leak and plan forward for repairs. Met up with NSK Well Integrity Rep Roger Winters. Grating had been removed and the conductor cut away to access the suspected leak. - NSK Rep told me that the crew used N2 to determine location of leak and determined it was directly below flutes on the braidenhead where it threads on to surface casing. - Plan forward is to do a "seal weld" at the connection where the leak is and cover it with Denso-Wrap, then replace the section of conductor. Mr. Winters was notified to inform AOGCC of the repair progress and any subsequent pressure tests prior to returning well to service. Sincerely, Roger Winter ConocoPhillips Well Integrity Field Supervisor Enclosures: Description Summary of Proposal 10-403 Application for Sundry Approvals 1R-16 Wellbore Schematic • ConocoPhillips Alaska,Inc. Kuparuk 1R-16 (PTD 185-153) SUNDRY NOTICE 10-403 APPROVAL REQUEST March, 2017 This application for Sundry approval for Alpine well 1R-16 is for the inspection and repair of surface casing with a suspected surface casing leak. Subsequent diagnostics indicate that the leak is relatively shallow. ConocoPhillips requests approval to inspect and repair the surface casing. With approval, inspection and repair of the surface casing will require the following general steps: 1. Secure the well as needed with mechanical plug in tubing 2. Remove the floor grate, well house, flow lines, and other equipment as necessary from around the wellhead. 3. Remove gravel around wellhead and excavate to-20'. 4. Install nitrogen purge equipment for the conductor and OA(if needed) so that hot work may be conducted in a safe manner. 5. Cut windows in the conductor casing and remove cement from the outside of the surface casing for inspection. Remove additional conductor as necessary.Notify AOGCC Inspector for opportunity to inspect. 6. CPAI Mechanical Engineers will determine type of patch or repair needed to return the casing to operational integrity. 7. QA/QC will verify the repair for a final integrity check. 8. Perform a low-pressure test(Open OA shoe)to confirm no fluid to surface. 9. Install anti-corrosion coating as specified by CPAI Corrosion Engineer. 10. Replace the conductor and fill the void with cement and top off with sealant. 11. Backfill as needed with gravel around the wellhead. 12. Remove plug(s)and return the well to injection. 13. Each of these wells was fou.nd to have a void in the conductor. The cement was pumped August 15~' and 23`a 2009, and the corrosion inhibitor/sealant was pumped August 27~', 28;~' and 29~' 2009. The attached spreadsheet presents the well name, top of cement depth prior to filling, and volumes used on each conductor. Please ca11 Perry Klein or MJ Loveland at 907-659-7043, if you have any questions. Describe proposed program: ARCO Alaska, Inc., proposes to drill a Kuparuk River Field development well to approximately 8402' HD (6825' TVD). Selected intervals will be logged. A 20", 2000 psi annular diverter will be installed on the 16" conductor while drilling the surface hole. A 13-5/8", 5000 psi, RSRRA BOPE stack will be installed on the 9-5/8" surface pipe. The stack and 'related equipment will be tested to 3000 psig upon installation and weekly thereafter. Expected maximum surface pressure is 2842 psi. Pressure calculations are based on virgin reservoir pressure. Surface pressure is calculated with an unexpanded gas bubble at surface, including temperature effects. Casing will be tested to 3000 psi prior to releasing the drilling rig. Non-freezing fluids will be left in uncemented annuli through the permafrost interval. 1R-16 will be 59' away from 1R-15 at 2300'TVD. There are no closer wellbores anywhere downhole. Reserve pit fluids will be disposed of by pumping them down the 7" x 9-5/8" annulus of this well. The 7" x 9-5/8" annulus will be left with a non-freezing fluid during any interruptions in the disposal process. (continued on attached sheet) 23. The well will be completed by the workover rig using 3-1/2" x 2-7/8" tubing. Selected intervals will be perforated within the Kuparuk formation and reported on subsequent reports. A subsurface safety valve will be installed and tested upon conclusion of the job.
