C. Smith AlaSka Oil and Gas cOnservation Commission 3001 Porcupine Street Anchorage, AK 99501 Dear L. C. Smith: Per our conversation on September 4, 1985, ARCO Alaska, Inc. proposes to convert 110 production wells to water injection to implement fultfield waterflood of the Kuparuk River Unit. As discussed a single "blanket" sundry notice (form 10-403) has been completed for all well proposed to be converted~to water injection. Individual subsequent sundry notices will be filed when the actual well conversions occur. As stated in form 10-403, well conversion to water injection will occur in two primary stages. The first stage will convert approximately four wells per dri!lsite to achieve a nine-spot pattern.' First stage conversions are expected to be completed by approximately 10/15/85, prior to waterflood startup. The second stage of conversions will convert approximately four additional wells per drillsite to achieve a line drive pattern. Second stage conversions are expected to be completed mid-December to January 1986. I would like to express my thanks and appreciation to the Commission in working with ARCO Alaska, Inc. in this area. If you have any questions please call me at 263-4212. Sincerely, T. M. The 2V-8 well was P&A'd on 01/26/84 after three (3) attempts to squeeze a casing leak in the 9-5/8" surface pipe failed. The well was P&A'd and an abandonment marker was placed in accordance with AOGCC regulations. On 07/10/84, the abandonment marker was removed to spot a drilling rig on 2V-8A, which has a SHL 8' south of the 2V-8 wellbore. After drilling operations are completed on the 2V-8A, ARCO Alaska, Inc., proposes to weld a base plate over the casing stub of 2V-8 and bead weld the well information required by the State. The top of the base plate will be approximately 1' below pad level. This will facilitate any future rig moves for completion/workover operations on 2V-SA. RECEIVED JUL 1 6 J9~4 Alaska Oil & Gas Cons. A casing leak in the 9-5/8", 36#, J-55, ERW surface pipe was isolated between 1302' and 1317'MD. Three attempts were made to squeeze the leak with Permafrost "C" cement using 150 sx, 500 sx, 500 sx, respectively. After the third unsuccessful attempt to test the casing, ARCO Alaska, Inc., elected to plug and abandon the 2V-8 surface hole. 2. A 100 sack Permafrost "C" balanced plug was placed across the 9-5/8" casing shoe at 3109'MD from 3167'MD to 2948'MD. A second 50 sack Permafrost "C" balanced plug was placed across the casing leak (1302' - 1317'MD) from 1349' to 1240'MD. A surface plug was placed from 1lO'MD to surface with 50 sacks Permafrost "C" cement. 3. A well abandonment marker will be placed in accordance with 20 AAC 25.120 of the AOGCC regulations. Per telephone conversation between Jim Trimble and Tom Brassfield on 01/24/84, the following abandonment procedures were discussed: 1. 2. A 100 sack Permafrost "C" balanced plug was placed across the 9-5/8" casing shoe at 3109'MD from 3167'MD t¢ 2948'MD. A second 50 sack Permafrost "C" balanced plug was placed across the casing leak (1302' - 1317'MD from 1349! to 1240'MD.
