History and current status: GC -3D is a Cretaceous disposal well that was drilled and completed in 1978 as a water source well and then was converted to a disposal well in 1979. In 1990, the lower perforations were shut off to prevent injection interference between GC -3C and GC -3D. Additional perforations were added from 3866-3920'. The well was on full time injection at—1600psi/20,OOObpd until 2003 when it was shut in due to reduced utility of the well; however, as the Prudhoe Bay water wheel developed and PM2 was tied into the GC 1 facility, water throughput demand has steadily increased and it is now desirable to re -instate GC-3D's operability to increase facility water handling and to maintain a healthy water balance across all four interlinked facilities in the waterwheel (PM2, GC1, GC3 and FS3). Given GC3 has been out of service for a long period an integrity screening was requested to assess the condition of the tubing and the casing. During the integrity screening a leak in the tubing was identified and confirmed by an LDL at 2800' MD. Production casing integrity was confirmed with a passing CMIT-TxIA to 2311 psi against a wireline retrievable plug set in the tubing tail. To set the plug, service coil cleaned out both the tubing and liner to 2979' MD. Slickline attempted to drift for the plug and later for a patch and were only able to get down with a maximum 3.75" OD drift due to restrictions at the top of the tubing. Slickline attempted to drift for a patch with a 13' x 3.66" OD drift and was not able to get past 2689' which resulted in a decision to pursue a tubing swap instead of a patch. Scope of Work: The primary objective of this RWO Is to replace the 4-1/2" tubing. The MASP for the well is 1,653 psi. - - Pre -Pulling Unit Prep Work: 1. Saturday, July 8, 1978 - BOP test started at 7:45 AM and finishsd at '~0~:10'0' ~ll ~Ken- Miller was the supervisor for Sohio, Bob Pc~roy was pusher for Nabors rig 18-E. Bel~ are the results of the BOP tests. The test plug was a cammrc~ wellhead type. T~sting ~s d~ne with ~ater, mud, and diesel. The upper pipe rams, inside ~ill and inside choke w~re tested to 3000 psi. Next the upp=_r pipe rams, outside kill and outside cho]~ (HCP0 were tes~ to 3000 psi. The upper pipe rams, and check valve ~=_re tested to 3000 psi. The lower pipe rams were testmd to 3000 psi. Tbs annular prev~ter was tested to 2500 psi. The upper and lower kelly were. also tested to 3000 psi separately. There was a dart and ball drill stem safety valve cm floor OK. The a~lator had 3000 psi on master gauge. The mitrogen backup_ bottles had 2000, 2000, 2300, 2100 psi each. The master and remote ccmtrols operated satisfactorily. The pit w~s open but not very large, the pits were ~ptied when needed and hauled to c~e of t~o places - A or B .pad.
