Re:
No-Flow Verification, seven wells
BPX PBU -- five on S Pad & two on U Pad
Dear Mr. Bixby/Farris:
Our inspector Lou Grimaldi witnessed no-flow tests on and recommended
no-flow status for the seven BPX PBU wells listed below.
The wells were open to an atmospheric tank to determine fluid production
(there was none), and monitored through a gas meter to determine gas
production rates. The inspector recommended "no-flow" status for the
wells listed below.
Well No. PTD No. Test Date Fld Rate Gas Rate
'S-13 82-135 0/26/94 dead 135 scf/h
S-16 84-084 10/26/94 dead 0 scf/h
S-20 86-147 10/26/94 dead 240 scf/h
U-6 84-078 10/26/94 dead 360 scf/hr
U-8 ~.84-102 10/26/94 dead 300 scf/hr
The above wells meet the criteria of a "no-flow" performance test, and
as such are considered incapable of flow to the surface. Under 'the
authority of Conservation Order 145, Rule 5 (amended by CO 333), these
wells are not required to have a fail safe automatic SSSV. However,
the surface safety valve and pilot must be maintained in good working
condition, and if for any reason the wells again become capable of
unassisted flow of hydrOcarbons, the subsurface safety valves must be
reinstalled and maintained in good working condition.
Sincerely,
Blair E. Wondzel~

RU slickline. Pull the SSSV and run a drift to ensure no obstruction exists in
wellbore. Tag PBTD, if not below bottom perf call town to discuss cleanout.
Obtain wellhead sample. Using the APl RP 42 emulsion testing procedures, test
emulsion tendencies when mixing a wellhead fluid sample with live and spent
15% HCL (with additives) at 1-80 deg F. Test with 5000 ppm ferric ion added.
Adjust the type and volumes of additives as dictated by the emulsion test results.
Run a caliper log in the 7 inch from below the bottom perf to the tubing tail.
Note: Objective of the caliper log is to determine if there is any scale buildup in
the wellbore. Well performance shows deliverability begin declining with
the addition of the Sag River perfs. The caliper log is an attempt too
ascertain the reason for this production decline.
Report results of caliper log to Anchorage. If buildup in the wellbore is observed,
acid procedure will be changed to allow for acid to soak across perforated
interval..
RU CT. Pressure test to 4000 psi. RIH with a nozzle. Tie into tubing tail for depth
control. Fluid pack wellbore with water with CT at 9400 ft.
Acidize 158' (632 holes) of Zone 4 perfs with 15% HCL acid. Maximum pressure
is 4000 psi. Reciprocate CT across perfs from 9560 to 9750 ft. while acidizing.
Pump seawater down the CT-tubing annulus at 1/4 BPM to protect Sag River. A
strip chart of surface wellhead pressure (CT by 7" annulus) vs rate should be
recorded and sent into town. Filter fluids to 3 microns. Pump as follows:

ADMINISTRATIVE APPROVAL NO. 165.13
Re: The application o£ Sohio Alaska Petroleum Company, Wester
Area Operator of the Prudhoe Bay Unit, to have the Prudhoe
Bay Unit wells Numbers K-4 and U-8 designated as key wells
in the bottomhole pressure survey program.
Mr. T. N. Tyler
Manager, Reservoir Operations
Sohio Alaska Petroleum Company
P. O. Box 196612
Anchorage, Alaska 99519-6612
Dear Mr. Tyler:
The referenced application, dated November 18, 1985, requests
that the Prudhoe Bay Unit wells K-4 and U-8, be designated to
serve as key wells in the bottomhole pressure survey program.
Neither the "K" pad nor the "Un pad have a designated key yell at
this time.
The wells nominated by Sohio Alaska Petroleum Company appear to
be suitable to monitor the pressure in the Prudhoe Oil Pool.
Therefore, by this letter, the Alaska Oil and Oas Conservation
Commission approves the addition of the Prudhoe Bay Unit wells
K-4 and U-'8 to the key well roster for the monitoring of the
pressure in the Prudhoe Oil Pool.
Yours very truly,
Harry W. Kugler

Install and cement 80' Of 20" x 30"-insulated conductor to surface.
Drill 17 1/2" hole to 2700' TVD and cement 13 3/8" 72# L-80 Buttress casing
to surface.
Install blowout prevention equipment consisting of 5000 psi W.P. pipe rams,
blind rams, and annul, ar preventer. Maximum possible bottomhole pressure is
4390 psi at 8800"TVDss based on original reservoir pressure. Maximum
possible surface pressure is 3330 psi based-on a gas column to surface from
8600' TVDss and an oil column to 8800' TVDss.
Directionally drill 12 1/4" hole to +100' TVD above the Sag RiYer Sandstone.
Run 9 5/8" 47# L-80 Buttress casing to within 5' of 12 1/4" TD and cement in
two stages: First stage using Class G cement around the 9 5/8" shoe. The
second stage to be downsqueezed in the 13 3/8" x 9 5/8" annulus followed by
Arctic Pack.
Directionally drill 8 1/2" hole to TD. Run 7" liner from TD to 250' inside
9 5/8" casing shoe and cement using Class G cement with 18% salt.
Clean out to 7" float equipment. Change over to 9.6 ppg. NaC1 completion
fluid. Test casing and lap to 3000 psi. Run CBL.
Run 9 5/8" production packer on internal plastic coated tubing with gas lift
mandrels and a sliding sleeve. Set packer +50' above top of liner. A sub-
surface safety valve with ~ual control lines will be placed +50' below base
of permafrost. Install and test Xmas tree. Displace tubing to diesel.
Set and test packer.
Suspend well for perforating subsequent to rig release.
