A-12, -13, m~; -30, -34A, &-37 Dear Mr. Farris/Bixby: On July 18, 1994, our Inspector Lou Grimaldi witnessed no-flow tests on BPX's PBU A Pad wells 12(PTD 80-117), 13(PTD 81-159), 26(PTD 82-117), 30(PTD 85-119), 34A(PTD 85-105), and 37(PTD 93-007). The wells had been shut in on the previous day. Ail wells were bled down to atmospheric tanks on-site. Five of the wells were essentially dead; the sixth well (A-30) made a small amount of gas; a gas meter showed that the flow rate was approximately 360 SCF per hour versus 900 SCF per hour acceptable. Since these rates are well below the limits for "no-flows", the Inspector concluded that subject wells were not capable of unassisted flow of hydrocarbons. The Commission hereby authorizes removal of the subsurface safety valves from BPX's PBU wells A-12(PTD 80-117), A-13(PTD 81-159), A-26(PTD 82-117), A-30 (PTD 85-119), A-34A(PTD 85-105), and A-37(PTD 93-007) on the condition that the low-pressure sensors and surface safety valves must be maintained in good condition and, if for any reason, the wells again become capable of unassisted flow of hydrocarbons, the subsurface safety valve(s) must be reinstalled and maintained in good working condition. Sincerely, PI Supervisor c: Lou Grimaldi bew/nlpba5 MEMORANDb.,t TO: THRU: · David John.~~, Chairmad ~ State o, Alaska Alaska Oil and Gas ConserVation Commission DATE: July 18, 1994 ~:.:'..,,' . Blair Wondzell, ¢'.~, P. I. Supervisor FROM: Lou Grimaldi, ¢"'~'~' SUBJECT: Petroleum Inspector FILE NO: 9A9JGRBD.DOC No Flow verification BPX wells A-12,13,26~4,&37 Prudhoe Bay Field Sunday, July 17,1994; I verified the NO-FLOW status of 4 BPX wells, A-12,26,34 &37, in the Prudhoe Bay field. The subject wells had been flowed down to separator pressure the night before and then bled to zero in a bleed trailer. All four wells were dead eithar no gas flow or just a whisper when opened to atmosphere. I recommend the approval of the NO-FLOW status for these wells. Monday, July 18, 1994; ! returned to A pad today and verified NO FLOW status on well # A-13. This well like the Others produced no fluid or had significant gas flow. There was a additional well tested, this being A-30. Although no fluid was produced a small amount of gas was steadily coming from the tubing. A residential type gas meter was installed on a hose routed from the tree cap to. The pressure was stabilized at approximately .5 psi with the meter registering on the two foot scale thirty subdivisions (or three revolutions) in thirty seconds. As there were no instructions with this meter and we were not sure of its operation ! did not approve the test at this time, if the instructions prove out that two standard cubic feet is measured per revolution instead of a subdivision this well would pass the NO FLOW test. · SUMMARy: I witnessed NO-FLOW tests on six BPX A pad wells. =Jo S'~-- ;/-% STATE OFALASKA ~ 0 R 16 IN A A{-..
