Attn: Well Integrity Coordinator, PRB -20 Post Office Box 196612 0 Anchorage, Alaska 99519 -6612 August 22, 2011 RECEIVE Mr. Tom Maunder Alt Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission SSalt 333 West 7 Avenue i1 t 8 Anchorage, Alaska 99501xt; Subject: Corrosion Inhibitor Treatments of GPB P -Pad a0 0- Dear Mr. Maunder, P - Enclosed please find multiple copies of a spreadsheet with a list of wells from GPB P- Pad that were treated with corrosion inhibitor in the surface casing by conductor annulus. The corrosion inhibitor is engineered to prevent water from entering the annular space and causing external corrosion that could result in a surface casing leak to atmosphere. The attached spreadsheet represents the well name, API and PTD numbers, top of cement depth prior to filling and volumes of corrosion inhibitor used in each conductor. As per previous agreement with the AOGCC, this letter and spreadsheet serve as notification that the treatments took place and meet the requirements of form 10 -404, Report of Sundry Operations. If you require any additional information, please contact me or my alternate, Gerald Murphy, at 659 -5102. Sincerely, Mehreen Vazir BPXA, Well Integrity Coordinator • • BP Exploration (Alaska) Inc. Item 1: Classification of Service wells: Gas injection, water injection, steam injection, air injection, salt water disposal, water supply for injection, observation, injection for in-situ combustion. Item 5: Indicate which elevation is used as reference (where not otherwise shown) for depth measurements given in other spaces on this form and in any attachments. Item 16 and 24: If this well is completed for separate production from more than one interval (multiple completion), so state in item 16, and in item 24 show the producing intervals for the interval reported in item 27. Submit a separate form for each additional interval to be separately produced, showing the data pertinent to such interval. Item 21: Indicate whether from ground level (GL) or other elevation (DF, KB, etc.). Item 23: Attached supplemental records for this well should show the details of any multiple stage cementing and the location of the cementing tool. Item 27: Method of Operation: Flowing, Gas Lift, Rod Pump, Hydraulic Pump, Submersible, Water Injection, Gas Injection, Shut-in, Other-explain. Item 28: If no cores taken, indicate "none". The permit to redrill does not exempt you from obtaining additional permits required by law from other governmental agencies, and does not authorize conducting drilling operations until all other required permitting determinations are made. Blowout prevention equipment (BOPE) must be tested in accordance with 20 AAC 25 035. Sufficient notice (approximately 24 hours) must be given to allow a representative of the Commission to witness a test of BOPE installed prior to drilling new hole. Notice may be given by contacting the Commission petroleum field inspector on the North Slope pager at 659-3607. Sincerely, Daniel T. All 7ES & 9ES rig moves which involve well to well spacing greater than 30' have been given dispensation and do not require surface and/or SSSV shut-in of adjacent wells. Establish a minimum distance of 5' from each of the adjacent wellheads or wellhouses. Discuss the move at a pre-job safety meeting and designate a spotter to ensure that there is no danger of collision. DRILLING CLOSE APPROACH: · There are no close approach wells associated with the directional plan for this well. proposed side-track diverges away from the original and prior sidetrack wellbores. Close Approach Well: I None I The INTERMEDIATE SECTION: Hydrocarbons could be present in the intermediate section. Follow good well control practices at all times. Monitor pit volumes and mud returns for any signs of insufficient mud weight. Tight hole, Torque, Packing-off, Washing & Reaming, and Stuck Pipe have been encountered on this drill-site. Kick-off with sufficient mud weight and maintain MW into the Kingak shale. It is advisable to minimize pressure surges while drilling, tripping, and running liner. After sidetracking the intermediate hole angle will be held @ 56 degrees inclination to casing point. Good drilling practices and 10.5+ ppg mud weight will be used to maintain the shales in the intermediate hole section. Also, asphalt shale products such as Baranex and Barotrol in the mud system and the HTHP filtrate values below 10 cc/30 minute will assist with shale stability. It is critical that the intermediate casing depth be located at the Top of the Sag River(TSGR). The site geologist should be on location to correlate depths, analyze cuttings, and to advise on setting depth. A fault may be crossed whiled drilling at 12296' MD. Adequate bridging agent/material should be on location in the event that lost circulation becomes a problem. KICK TOLERANCE: In INTERMEDIATE open hole section is 42 bbls at an ISIP of 469 psi. This assumes an influx from the Sag River formation at a 10.5 ppg pore pressure, exerting pressure against an 12.5 ppg fracture gradient at the window depth(assumed weak-point). F.I.T. to 12. ppg 20' out of window. See Kick Tolerance Worksheet PRODUCTION SECTION: Hydrocarbons could be present in the production section. Follow good well control practices at all times. Monitor pit volumes and mud returns for any signs of insufficient mud weight KICK TOLERANCE Production hole is an infinite influx (the annular volume) assuming a hydrocarbon influx at section TD. This is a 'worst case scenario based on a 7.5 ppg pore pressure, a minimum fracture gradient of 9.5 ppg at the intermediate casing shoe, and 8.5 ppg mud in the hole. F.I.T. to 9.5 ppg 20' out of intermediate liner. See Kick Tolerance Worksheet. DISPOSAL: · No annular injection in this well. · Cuttings Handling: Cuttings generated from drilling operations will be hauled to grind and inject at DS-04. Any metal cuttings will be sent to the North Slope Borough. · Fluid Handling: Haul all drilling and completion fluids and other Class II wastes to DS-04 for injection. Ri site Summary of Drilling Hazards POST THIS NOTICE IN THE DOGHOUSE Intermediate Section: ~/ The intermediate section will be drilled with mud weight @ 10.5 ppg to combat shale instability in the HRZ shale and Kingak shale, after side-tracking from the kick-off-point. Tight hole, hole packing-off, and lost returns have been encountered in previous wells on this pad. Pipe sticking tendency is possible if the HRZ shale gives problems. Back reaming at connections and good hole cleaning practices will contribute to favorable hole conditions. Fault crossing is expected at 12296' MD. Lost returns could be experienced and bridging additives should be available for addition to the drilling fluid system as needed. Production Interval: V Lost Returns & Stuck Pipe have been experienced during past Drill Site Operations. Mud weight will be maintained in the 8.3-8.5 ppg range to control formation EMW at 7.3 ppg. This Drill Site is not a designated H2S pad. Fault crossings are expected at 13401, 13985, & 14858' MD.
