The corrosion inhibitor is engineered to prevent water from entering the annular space and causing external corrosion that could result in a surface casing leak to atmosphere. The attached spreadsheet represents the well name, API and PTD numbers, top of cement depth prior to filling and volumes of corrosion inhibitor used in each conductor. As per previous agreement with the AOGCC, this letter and spreadsheet serve as notification that the treatments took place and meet the requirements of form 10 -404, Report of Sundry Operations. If you require any additional information, please contact me or my alternate, Gerald Murphy, at 659 -5102. Sincerely, Mehreen Vazir BPXA, Well Integrity Coordinator • • BP Exploration (Alaska) Inc. Maunder BP Exploration (Alaska) Inc is requesting approval to use Seal-Tite to achieve and prevent IA to OA communication. The objective is to correct communication from inner to outer casing via inner casing hanger using Seal-Tite procedures and sealants. Mechanical considerations are: abnormal outer casing pressure is tracking the pressure in the inner casing on this well. M-32 has some limited integrity on the primary seal as it will hold 650 psi. The secondary seal is tracking the IA casing pressure. Both secondary and void have been previously packed with plastic packing. Included are the steps for proposed procedure that Seal-Tite will use. Sincerely ~/~ Don Brown • • Seal-Tite International Seal-Tite International Sea I-Tite Proposed Procedure 50o Deer cross Drive BP Alaska Well M-32 i~faaisonville, L~3 7o4a7 International Telephone: 985-875-1292 Correction of Casing Hanger Leak Facsimile: 985-875-0687 Advanced Sea /ant Technology November 02, 2~~7 http://www.seal-tite.net Field: Prudhoe Bay Well: M-32 Date: 02 November 2007 Objective Correct communication from inner casing to outer casing via inner casing hanger using Seal-Tite procedures and sealants. Mechanical Considerations Abnormal outer casing pressure is tracking the pressure in the inner casing on this well M-32 has some limited integrity on the primary seal as it will hold 650 psi. The secondary seal is tracking the IA casing pressure. Both secondary and void have been previously packed with plastic packing. The purpose of this procedure is to inject Seal-Tite sealant into the void area to achieve a seal and prevent IA to OA communication. Intended Diagnostic Procedure 1. Meet with field personnel. Review well history. Verify condition of well as matching information provided. Confirm diagnostic and repair objectives. 2. Perform Job Safety Analysis with all concerned personnel. 3. Record all tubing and casing pressures. 4. Locate the test ports for the inner casing hanger. Confirm the routing and purpose for each port. 5. Install pressure relief tool with gauge on each void area test port. 6. Sting in and record the pressure in each test port. Compare with adjacent casing pressures. Attempt to bleed test port pressure to zero and note type fluid recovered. 7. Monitor pressure build up rate in each test port. 8. Rig up Seal-Tite pump to the appropriate test port and perform 200 psi low pressure test for 5 minutes and high pressure test (500 psi above required test pressure) for 10 minutes. . 9. Pump hyd~ic fluid to confirm communica~ between test ports if possible. Then close opposing test port. 10. Pressure test with hydraulic fluid into test port and measure leak rates at 1000 psi and 2000 psi above opposing casing pressure and at required test pressure for the hanger. Note: Check for records of any plastic packing grease having recently been injected into the test ports. If so, inject Valve-Flush and/or diesel to dissolve/remove potential plastic packing from the seal areas prior to pumping pressure activated sealant. It may be necessary to remove a lock down screw (LDS) adjacent to the bleed port on the void and wash out the packing with valve flush or diesel. As one LDS to bleed port is cleaned out, proceed to the next LDS in a clockwise manner until all plastic packing has been removed from the void. 11. Report diagnostic results to the office. Note: The leak rate @ 2000 psi differential pressure or required test pressure, whichever is higher, should determine which sealant to use. Rule of thumb: 0.00 - 0.75 lit/min @ 2000 psi 0.76 - 1.50 lit/min @ 2000 psi 1.51 - 2.251it/min @ 2000 psi 2.26 - 3.00 lit/min @ 2000 psi > 3.00 lit min @ 2000 psi Gly-Flo Sealant Tur-Flo Sealant Pac-Seal Sealant Pac-Seal Sealant with Angel Hair Flex-Plug Sealant Intended Repair Procedure for Pressure Activated Sealants 12. Shut in well and bleed all casing pressures and fill casings with fluid. Install 'h" ball valves on both the test and bleed ports of the secondary seal and void. Check for and remove any internal check valves. 13. Fill the void area with sealant. If possible, inject sealant into one test port until returns observed from a second test port to confirm when the area is full of sealant. Otherwise, pump/inject sealant into the seal area until a pressure increase is seen to indicate that the seal area is full. 14. Inject sealant until a seal is obtained at 500 to 1000 psi differential pressure. Hold for 15 minutes. 15. Increase pressure in 500 to 1000 psi steps every 15 minutes until a seal is obtained at required test pressure for the hanger (or minimum 1000 psi differential pressure). Note: It may be necessary to pump sealant into the secondary seal plastic packing port to seal the secondary seal before pumping sealant into the void to seal the primary seal and achieve a void test. 16. Cycle the injection pressure from zero (or leak source pressure) to test pressure several times to force additional sealant into the leak site. 17. Lock in test essure and allow the seal to cure ~ hours. 18. Pressure test for 15 minutes and record results. 19. Bleed seal area to zero and monitor for pressure build-up. Note that positive pressure may be required to maintain the seal against opposing well pressure. 20. Put the well on stream and monitor for leakage until reaching normal operating pressure and temperature. 21. Hand well over to Operator. Intended Repair Procedure for Flex-Plug Sealant 22. Shut in well and bleed all casing pressures and fill casings with fluid. Install 1/2" ball valves on both the test and bleed ports of the secondary seal and void. Check for and remove any internal check valves. 23. Mix and blend a 1 liter batch of Flex-Plug. Pour a small sample into a cup and pour the rest into the injection cylinder. Wait 10 to 15 minutes to allow the Flex-Plug to begin solidifying. 24. Inject 300 ml of Flex-Plug into the seal area. Note injection pressure. 25. Wait 10 to 15 more minutes and inject another 300 ml of Flex-Plug into the seal area. Note injection pressure. 26. Wait 10 to 15 more minutes and inject the remainder of the Flex-Plug into the seal area. The objective is to form a support base in the seal area around and above the leaking seal to allow for the accumulation of additional Flex-Plug injections above it. 27. Flush the test port with 50 ml of hydraulic oil. 28. Flush and clean the injection cylinder and hose with hydraulic oil and prepare for the next Flex-Plug injection. Note that it may be possible to mix the next batch of Flex-Plug while the previous batch is being injected to avoid having to flush the injection cylinder, hose and wellhead outlet with hydraulic oil after each injection. 29. Inject additional Flex-Plug (one liter at a time) to fill the seal area and support test pressure (or minimum 1000 psi differential pressure). The intent is to inject the last of the Flex-Plug at or near required test pressure for the hanger (or minimum 1000 psi differential pressure). 30. Flush the test port with 50 ml hydraulic fluid. 31. Flush and clean the injection cylinder and hose with hydraulic oil. 32. Shut in applied pressure and allow the Flex-Plug to cure for minimum 6 hours. ,. - 33. Test via test port with hydraulic oil to test pressure for 15 minutes and record results. 34. If a slight leak is observed, inject pressure activated sealant into the test port to complete the sealing process. 35. Bleed test port to zero and monitor for pressure build-up. Note that positive pressure may be required to maintain the seal against opposing well pressure. 36. Put the well on stream and monitor for leakage until reaching normal operating pressure and temperature. 37. Hand well over to Operator. Intended Repair Procedure to Seal from Above 38. Confirm the inner casing and outer casings are full of fluid (no gas in the annuli). Capture a sample of the inner casing fluid. 39. Rig up Seal-Tite injection system to the inner casing annulus valve and pressure test. 40. Prepare sealant pill. Take a sample of the sealant and confirm that it floats on the sample of the casing fluid. 41. With required test pressure (minimum 500 psi above normal casing pressure) in the casing, commence injecting Seal-Tite sealant pill into the inner casing valve. Inject enough sealant to fill the upper 5 feet of the inner casing (production annulus) with sealant. 42. Open the inner casing hanger void area test port and take returns through the test port until sealant observed flowing from the test port. 43. Shut in void area test port and open outer casing valve. 44. Monitor flow until the hanger leak is sealed and flow from the outer casing valve stops. 45. Let the seal cure for 3 hours. 46. Bleed inner annulus pressure off to whatever pressure desired by customer. 47. Put the well on production and monitor for leakage until reaching normal flowing temperature. 48. Hand well over to Operator. END xc: ON OR BEFORE NOVEMBER 13 2000 c:LOiC, M~t.M.OOC STATE OF ALASKA ALA~IL AND GAS CONSERVATION COMMISSIC'-"-, REPORT ('.. SUNDRY WELL OPE, ,ATIONS 1.
