History
K-21 is a natural flow Ivishak producer that was SI in February 2023 after being classified as
non-operable. Prior to the integrity issues, K-21 was a fulltime producer making ~400 bopd, 60
bwpd, and 25 MM scfd formation gas. A RWO was considered as a repair option; however, this
was deemed uneconomic. So, an IA cement job is being pursued to return K-21 to operable
status and bring the well online.
K-21 failed a diagnostic warm TIFL on 01/22/23 after DHD was attempting a bleed, but the IA
pressure would not bleed down. On 02/10/23, slickline set a TTP and performed a failing MIT-T
and CMIT-TxIA. A subsequent LDL on 2/11/23 identified a significant tbg leak @ 6706’ MD. A
follow up LDL on 2/22/23 found a PC leak at 6710’ MD. The well does not exhibit OA
repressurization.
Current Status
Not Operable well with PC leak at 6710’ MD and tubing leak at ~6706’ MD.
Objective
Execute an IA cement repair to seal of the PC and tubing leaks.
The proposed TOC in the IA is ~6200’ MD/4977’ TVD which is ~500’ MD above the PC leak
at 6710’ MD and tubing leak @ 6706’ MD. 500’ is the general-rule minimum of cement
above a PC leak needed for a reliable cement repair. The proposed TOC is ~1932’
MD/1419’ TVD below the SC shoe at 4268’ MD/3558’ TVD and ~275’ MD/203’ TVD deeper
than the estimated top of the UG4 marker @ ~5925’ MD/4773’ TVD.
Post-job Evaluation
o MIT-T and CMIT-TxIA to 2500 psi
o CBL to confirm the Top of Cement (TOC)
Long-Term Integrity Monitoring
o Biennial MIT-T and CMIT-TxIA
o Monitor and Record WHPs daily
IA Cement for PC/Tbg Leak
Well: K-21
Procedural steps
Slickline & Fullbore
1. MIT-T targeting 2500 psi and obtain LLR
2. Pull DGLV from 10200’ MD. MIT-T to same pressure obtained in step 1 and obtain LLR.
3. Pull PX plug from ~10337’ MD.
4. Set retrievable plug @ ~6600’ MD.
5. PT tubing to 2500 psi verify tubing integrity above 6600’ MD.
6. Pull retrievable plug.
E-Line & Fullbore
1. Set 4-1/2” CBP @ ~10,235’ MD.
2. Pump diesel down the tubing while taking returns up the IA, to confirm circulation
path through open pocket at GLM#1.
3. Set 4-1/2” cement retainer ~10,175’ MD
Coiled Tubing
1. Sting into cement retainer.
2. Pump down CT:
¾115 bbls diesel (Freeze-protect for IA after the cement job is in place)
¾79 bbls 15.8 ppg Class G cement (5% excess of 7” x 4-1/2” volume from 6200’ –
10200’ MD: 75 BBLS)
¾Chase w/diesel
3. Mill out cement retainer, cement, and CBP.
Slickline & Fullbore
1. Set PX plug at 10337’ MD.
2. CBL from ~10200’ MD to ~5000’ to identify TOC in IA.
3. Conduct AOGCC witnessed MIT-T and CMIT-TxIA to 2500 psi. Ensure 24-hour
notice provided for AOGCC.
4. Pull PX plug if passing MITs obtained.
5. Set dreamcatcher if needed.
E-Line/Slickline (Contingent)
1. If MIT-T above fails, set nipple reducer and plug at 10,337’ MD.
2. Set patch across Tubing leak @ ~6706’ MD.
3. Conduct AOGCC witnessed MIT-T to 2500 psi.
4. Pull plug from nipple reducer.
5. Set dreamcatcher if needed.
Well Diagnostics & WIE
1. Update AKIMS and add biennial MIT-T and CMIT TxIA.
