I. SUpervisor FROM: jeff joneS; SUBJECT: ~Petroleum InspectOr DATE: December 9, 2000 Safety Valve Tests Prudhoe Bay Field BPX / X-Pad SatUrday. December 9, 2000: I traveled to BPX's X Pad in the Prudhoe Bay Field to witness Safety Valve System tests. Merv Liddelow, BPX representative in charge of the testing, performed the tests in a safe and proficient manner. Of the 26 wells tested, 3 failures were witnessed. Well X-14A's SSV failed to close and well X-19B's pilot was frozen and the SSV failed to close. Mr. Liddelow indicated to me on 12/10/00 that these items have been corrected and successfully re-tested. The AOGCC test reports are attached for reference. . I conducted 26 well hOuSe inSpections concurrent with the SVS tests. A slight crude oil leak was noted on a wellhead flange of Well X-19B. Mr. Liddelow 'indicated he would have this item addressed. No °ther exceptions were noted. SUMMARY: i witnessed SVS tests and conducted well house inspeCtions on BPX's X Pad. 26 wells, 53 cOmponents tested, 3 failures. 26 well houses inspected. As the attached AOGCC BOPE Test Report indicates there were 4 failures during this test. The Upper Csg. Head Flange AP! Ring and the Upper Pipe Rams Door Seal leaks were repaired during the course of the test. The 2-3" Gate Valve Choke Manifold failures were rebuilt while picking up the bottom hole assembly and were retested before drilling out the 10 3/4" csg shoe. The accumulator problems encountered by P.I. Bobby ~ster on the last BOPE test have been corrected. The existing Accumulator System was removed and replaced with the Control Panel:s and Accumulator from Rig 26E, the entire system functioned properly during this test. The 2 Choke Manifold Valve failures were rebuilt by the Rig Mechanic, the valve bodies were in good condition but the sealing surfaces had to be replaced. Drill 13-1/2" hole to 3200' MD BKB. Run and cement 10-3/4", 45.5#, L-80 Buttress casing to surface. Install blowout prevention equipment consisting of 5000 psi W.P. pipe rams, blind rams, and annular preventer. Maximum possible bottomhole pressure is 4390 psi at 8800' TVDss based on original reservoir pressure. Maximum possible surface pressure is 3330 psi based on a gas column to surface from 8600' TVDss and an oil column to 8800' TVDss. A formation leak-off test will be performed 10' below the 10-3/4" shoe. Directionally drill 9-7/8" hole to the 7-5/8" casing point above the top of Sag River. Run a 7-5/8", 29.7 # NSCC casing string to within 10' of 9-7/8" TD and cement with Class G cement around the 7-5/8" shoe. Test 7-5/8" casing to 3500 psi before drilling out the shoe. The annulus will be freeze protected by dead crude oil. Directi°nally drill the 6-3/4" pilot hole thru the Sag River and Sadlerochit formation. Run E-line logs: GR/DIL/BHCS. If the logging results are good, plug back the pilot hole, kick off and directionally drill to a horizontal well. Run 4-1/2" slotted liner from TD to 150' inside 7-5/8" casing shoe without cement. Clean out to 4-1/2" slotted liner float equipment. Change over to NaCI completion fluid. Run 7-5/8" production packer on the 4-1/2" tubing. Space out the packer at 50' above top of slotted iner. A subsurface safety valve with dual control lines will be placed 100' below base of permafrost. Install and test Xmas tree. Set and test packer. Freeze protect the tubing and annulus with Diesel from surface to 2100' TVDBKB. Fluids incidental to the drilling of a well will be injected to CC-2A.
