Corrlrrlissi~n ~rla:6~or~ge ~~3-~y-s g-~ A Enclosed please find multiple copies of a spreadsheet with a list of wells from GPB Pad B that were treated with corrosion inhibitor in the surface casing by conductor annulus. The corrosion inhibitor is engineered to prevent water from entering the annular space and causing external corrosion that could result in a surface casing leak to atmosphere. The attached spreadsheet represents the well name, API and PTD numbers, top of cement depth prior to filling and volumes of corrosion inhibitor used in each conductor. As per previous agreement with the AOGCC, this letter and spreadsheet serve as notification that the treatments took place and meet the requirements of form 10-404, Report of Sundry Operations. Supervisor ox~X~- ~ ~ FROM: Jeff Jones, SUBJECT: Petroleum InspeCtor January 18, 2001 Safety Valve Tests Prudhoe Bay Unit B Pad Thursday, January 18, 2001' I traveled to BPXs B Pad and witnessed the semi annual safety valve system testing. As the attached AOGCC Safety Valve System Test Report shows I witnessed the testing of 17 wells and 34 components with 2 failures. The Pilot on well B-18 tripped below the required Set point and the pilot on well B-21 was frozen. Both failures were repaired and-sucessfully retested before I departed location. The neW style pilot insulation box fabricated using pipeline insulation installed on most wells on this pad shoUld be installed on the remaining SVS pilots to eliminate the freeze up problems evident on this pad. I also inspected the well hOuses on this pad while witnessing SVS testing. All the well houses inspected were clean and the equipment appeared to be in good condition. The Base of the Permafrost for all wells located in the Prudhoe Bay Unit is 1,900' TVD. Aquifers in the Prudhoe Bay Unit have been exempted from Class II injection activities by the AOGCC by Aquifer Exemption Order #1 as referenced in Area Injection Order #3. . The receiving zone to which the fluids will migrate is identified as the Tertiary/Cretaceous '[;ands formation just below _+3,146' TVD. The confining layer are the shales above the SV3 formation defined at _+3,146' TVD. Additional data which demonstrates the confining layers, porosity, and permeability of the injection zone was submitted to the AOGCC on 7-24-95. , There are 33 wells on Pad/Drillsite B. There may be additional unidentified wells within a quarter mile distance from the subject well. There are no domestic or industrial water use wells located within one mile of the project area. , The drilling wastes to be disposed of during this operations can be defined as drilling mud, cement contaminated drilling mud, and drill cuttings; rig wash fluid (inclusive of rig boiler blow down, and mud and cement rinse water of associated rig equipment, completion fluids (seawater and brine), formation fluids, reserve pit fluids, and drill rig domestic waste water. (Note: if you plan to dispose of fluids OTHER than those outlined above you must list them on the request) The maximum volume to be disposed of in the annulus is 35,000 bbls. Fluid densities will range from 8.3 to 13.0 ppg. Any deviation from this program must be detailed separately. , The 10-3/4" surface casing shoe is set at 3,536' MD (3,141' TVD) and cemented with 1,758 sacks of cement. This depth is below the base of the permafrost (1,900' TVD) and into the SV3 formation which has a long established history of annular pumping at B-Pad. The break down pressure of the SV-3 formation is estimated at 13.5 ppg equivalent mud weight. , The burst rating (80%) for the 10-3/4" surface casing is 2,864 psi. The collapse rating (80%) for the 7-5/8" intermediate/production casing is 3,832 psi. , The Maximum Allowable Surface Pressure while annular pumping is the lesser of 2,000 psi or the calculated pressure according to the following equation: MASP (psi) - (Max Breakdown ppg-8.3 ppg) X 0.052 X Surf Csg Shoe TVD - 849 psi , The maximum pressure imposed at the surface casing shoe is calculated according to the following equation: Max Press @ Surf Csg Shoe (psi) = .052 x Max Breakdown ppg x Surf Csg Shoe TVD = 2,204 psi This pressure is less than thea0% burst and collapse casing pressures calculated in #7. 10. INSTRUCTIONS General: This form is designed for submitting a complete and correct well completion report and log on all types of lands and leases in Alaska. Item 1: Classification of Service Wells: Gas injection, water injection, steam injection, air injection, salt water disposal, water supply for injection, observation, injection for in-situ combustion. Item 5: Indicate which elevation is used as reference (where not otherwise shown) for depth measurements given in other spaces on this form and in any attachments. Item 16 and 24: If this well is completed for separate production from more than one interval (multiple completion), so state in item 16, and in item 24 show the producing intervals for only the interval reported in item 27. Submit a separate form for each additional interval to be separately produced, showing the data pertinent to such interval. item 21: Indicate whether from ground level (GL) or other elevation (DF, KB, etc.). Item 23: Attached supplemental records for this well should show the details of any multiple stage cement- ing and the location of the cementing tool. Item 27: Method of Operation: Flowing, Gas Lift, Rod Pump, Hydraulic Pump, Submersible, Water In- jection, Gas Injection, Shut-in, Other-explain. Item 28: If no cores taken, indicate "none". The permit to redrill does not exempt you from obtaining additional permits required by law from other governmental agencies, and does not authorize conducting drilling operations until all other required permitting determinations are made. Blowout prevention equipment (BOPE) must be tested in accordance with 20 AAC 25 035. Sufficient notice (approximately 24 hours) must be given to allow a representative of the Commission to witness a test of BOPE installed prior to drilling new hole. Notice may be given by contacting the Commission petroleum field inspector on the North Slope pager at 659-3607. CENTRALIZER PLACEMENT: Run 2 right hand turbolators per joint in open hole, i per joint in lap, and none opposite intermediate casing shoe.. OTHER CONSIDERATIONS: i Batch mix the cement slurry. Perform fluid loss test on the batch mixed slurry. Report actual fluid loss on morning report. Displace @ 6-8 bpm. -;2 LINER CEMENT VOLUME: , .
