Well X-31 L 1 (PTD #2020730) has sustained casing pressure on the IA and has been classified as a
Problem well. A TIFL failed on 10/14/06. TIO's on 10/14/06 are 2120/2120/100.
The plan forward for this well is as follows:
1. SL: CO OGLV
2. DHD: Re-TIFL

Subject: X-31 L1 Swapped from Normal to Problem
Joe,
High lAP of 2050 psi was noted for well X-31 L 1 on 10/06/06. On 10/14/06 DHD performed a TIFL that
failed. To mitigate this TxlA comm I suggest we change out the SO in station # 1 and re-TIFL to
establish tubing integrity. I have updated AnnComm to mirror this suggestion, however, I have not
swapped the status from Normal to Problem. Let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

Safety meeting prior to picking up Whipstock.
PU TIW whipstock, Sperry ESS tool, divert sub, swivel, WF
MHA, NRJ, CTC. Note, RA tag is 8.46' below top of whipstock.
RIH with BHA #3, to set whipstock. RIH fine in 4-1/2" tubing
and 7-5/8" csg. Hung up at 4-1/2" liner top, then fell thru ok.
RIH, stop at flag from last run (12600' EOP). Make -2'
correction to get on depth. Drop 1/2" ball to shift divert sub.
RIH to setting depth of WS. Stop with WS nose at 12763.7'.
13.65' from nose to top ofWS. Top ofWS at 12750'. RA tag
at 12758.5'. Pump ball on seat with flo pro mud. Landed at
57.2 bbls (Coil vol=59.6 bbls). Got good indication of set, ball
seat sheared at 2000 psi over. SD pumps to let Sperry ESS
take it's reading of WS setting orientation for 10 minutes.
Stack 5000 Ibs, POOH. Appears to be a good set.
Whipstock TF set at 52.0 deg Left.
POOH with TIW WS setting tool.
Tag up at surface. Pit volume = 220 bbls. Lost 22 bbls in last
8 hours. Lay down whipstock BHA. Install Baker CTC. Pull
test CTC to 25klbs, PT to 3500 psi.
MU Window milling BHA#4.
RIH with milling BHA#4. -16' correction @ EOP flag at
12600" .
Tag whipstock pinch point at 12761', correct to 12751' and flag
CT.

CTD & correct to BHCS/GR TSAD. NOTE: As per geologist,
depths are corrected as follows: TOWS @ 12764', TOW @
12766', BOW @ 12772' & RA tag for future tie-ins @ 12773'
BKB.
RBIH & tag corrected TD at 12833'.
Orient TF to 70L.
Drill to 12852' with 50-70L TF, 2.6/2.6bpm, 3100/3400psi &
64fph ave ROP. Observe MWD tool not getting good G-totals
inclination surveys. Should be @ 95degs incl but tool is
showing 85degs Gz incl. MWD rep suspects rebuilt DS49 is
out of balance & causing excessive dowhole vibration.
POOH drilling BHA#5 for MWD & bit.
OOH. Changeout bit, MWD probe & adjust motor. M/U MWD
drilling BHA #6 with new Smith M09 Bit & 2.0deg bend motor.
RIH with BHA #6. Pulse test MWD OK. Continue RIH to TD of
12852 ft. Tagged at 12849 ft CTD. Added 3 ft to CTD for
depth correction.
Orient TF to 45L.

Enclosed is the approved application for permit to redrill the above referenced well.
The permit to redrill does not exempt you from obtaining additional permits required by law from
other governmental agencies, and does not authorize conducting drilling operations until all other
required permitting determinations are made.
The permit is for a new wellbore segment of existing well Prudhoe Bay Unit X-31, Permit No. 198-
198, API 50-029-22435. Production should continue to be reported as a function of the original API
number stated above.
Blowout prevention equipment (BOPE) must be tested in accordance with 20 AAC 25035.
Sufficient notice (approximately 24 hours) must be given to allow a representative of the
Commission to witness a test of BOPE installed prior to drilling new hole. Notice may be given by
contacting the Commission petroleum field inspector on the North Slope pager at 659-3607.

Summarv of Operations:
A sidetrack lateral from production well X-31 will be drilled using coil tubing. Specific prep work, (Phase 1)
and drilling, (Phase 2) operations are detailed below.
Phase 1: Screen & Prep Well: Screen - Install dummy GlV's, fluid pack lA, and MIT-IA. Pressure test tree
and valves. Prep - detailed below is planned to start March 22"d, 2002

Set a 4%" monobore flow-through whipstock at 12750' md, (-8,938' tvdss).

Phase 2: Drill and Complete CTD si~etrack: Planned for March 31th, 2002.
2%" coil will be used to drill a -1425ft of 3%" OH sidetrack from a window cut in the 4-1/2" liner - as per the
attached plan. The sidetrack will then be completed with an uncemented solid & slotted liner.

. Phase 2: Seawater and Flo-Pro (8.6 - 8.7 ppg)

. No annular injection on this well.
. All drilling and completion fluids and all other Class II wastes will go to Grind & Inject.

. X-31 was last tested for H2S on the 2/12/02, and recorded a 20ppm sample concentration.
. No faults are prognosed along the planned wellbore, therefore, risk of loosing circulation is low.
Reservoir Pressure
Reservoir pressure is estimated to be 3,360 psi at 8,800ss. Maximum surface pressure with gas (0.12
psi/ft) to surface is 2,304 psi. /
