Administrative Abandonment Action
Prudhoe Bay Unit P-05 Permit # 195-015
This memo will remain at the front of the subject well file.
Well P-05 was replaced by P-05A (permit # 200-051, AP1 # 50-029-22545-01) when the permit was
approved 4/20/2000. The replacement well incorporates an extension to a new bottom hole location
using the existing well bore. This extension, along with the original hole, will be used for production of
hydrocarbons. A review of both well files indicates administrative abandonment of the originating well
bore is appropriate according to current AOGCC procedures for wells where additional permitted
extension is drilled from an existing well bore.
20 AAC 25.005(a) requires a Permit to Drill for each hole drilled below the conductor unless drilled to
straighten the original hole, sidetrack junk, or correct mechanical difficulties. In addition, AOGCC data
bases require each conductor has only one permit number and APl number. Administrative
abandonment of the original permit only eliminates duplication in the databases. Information for the
original well and its replacement will be maintained in their respective files.
The operator has been notified of this action. All future correspondence with the AOGCC should reflect
the new permit number, AP1 number and well data.

on subsequent reports and applications submitted to the Commission.

Well P-05a Prep for CT ~ ¥~;~t~'
Well P-05 is scheduled for a through tubing "extension" to be drilled with
coiled tubing. The following summarizes the procedure required to prepare P-
05 for sidetracking and is submitted as an attachment to Form 10-403. A
schematic diagram of this proposed completion is attached. Note: The
existing slotted liner of P-05 will not be abandoned. The shoe track will be
milled out and the well extended to produce from lower Zone 4. The existing
slotted liner will continue to produce.
1. A Tubing Integrity Test will be performed.
2. The tubing will be drifted.
$. The well will be killed with seawater and Flo-Pro.

BOP test
Nabors rig # 28-E
BPX well P-05
Prudhoe Bay Field
PTD # 95-15
Saturday, March '1'!, 1995: I witnessed the weekly BOP test on Nabors rig # 28-E which was
drilling BPX well P-05 in the Prudhoe Bay Field.
The test was started at 1430. A Iow/high test of 300~5000 psi was put on all BOPE with the
exception of the annular preventer which was tested to 300/3000 psi. A recharge test was
performed that showed the accumulator was in satisfactory shape. The choke manifold was
tested with all valves operating properly and holding their pressure test of 300/5000 psi.
The gas detection system was tested. Ail components functioned properly although one of the
two H2S detectors in the pits was out for repairs. As P pad is not a designated H2S area I did not
see this as a failure.
The area surrounding the rig was clean and provided good access.
SUMMARY: I witnessed the weekly BOP test on Nabors rig # 28 E drilling BPX well P-05. Test
time 1 3/4 hours, no failures.

Dear Mr Jordan:
Enclosed is the approved application for permit to drill the above referenced well.
The permit to drill does not exempt you from obtaining additional permits required by law from other
governmental agencies, and does not authorize conducting drilling operations until all other required
permitting determinations are made.
Blowout prevention equipment (BOPE) must be tested in accordance with 20 AAC 25.035. Sufficient
notice (approximately 24 hours) of the BOPE test performed before drilling below the surface casing
shoe must be given so that a representative of the Commission may witness the test. Notice may be
· given by contacting the Commission petroleum field inspector on the North Slope pager at 659-3607.
