RDMO 15-45. Lower Derrick and Secure Rig for travel to E-38.
Travel from DS 15-45a to E-38.
Move Rig to E-38.
R/U Remove Booster Wheels from both ends of Rig. Raise
Derrick, install BOP Stack on pedestal. Bridle down and R/U
Top Drive. A Seal failure inside the hydraulic winch for the
Beavalator tugger allowed -2 gallons of hydraulic oil to leak
down the Beavalator wall and onto the Pad. See "Remarks" for
details.
Position over E-38, center, and level the Rig. Accept rig @
1400 hours. Call for sand truck--extremely slippery well site
conditions due to packed snow. Wait on hot seawater to begin
loading Pits.
CLEAN Take on Seawater and Rig Up to Circulate Out Well.
CLEAN Circulate Well wI 620 bbls of 120 deg F Seawater.
CLEAN Flow Check Well-- Well Dead. Break Off and Blow Down
Circulating Hoses. Install TWC and Pressure Test wI 1000 psi.

PJSM. Test BOPE, 250 psi low I 3500 psi high. AGOCC

DECOMP Pull on Tubing. Hanger released easily @ 135K and began

Line. Last 100 ft of Control Line Bird Nested above SSSV

Power Tongs Stuck in the Closed Positon on Tbg Joint.
Disassemble Hydrualics, Manually Open and lift Pipe Handler
off Tbg. LID Tongs and PI U Back Up Set.
DECOMP POOH and LID 4-1/2" Tubing. 186 Jts + 1 Cut Joint, 2 GLM's,
1 SSSV, Control Line Tubing and -52 bands. Pin Ends of
Joints 60 - 110 Showed Significant Metal Loss. External
Corrosion and Pitting Visible on the Outside of Last 15 Joints.
No Holes Found in Body of Tbg. Tubing Punch Holes on
bottom of Joint #186, Three Holes Shot in Collar. Good Chem
Cut on Joint #187 = 18.37'.

Saturday, September 9, 1995' I traveled to BPX PBU E-38 well to witness
the BOPE test on Nabors 28E.
As the attached BOPE test form indicates, the Annular Closing Pressure
Regulator had to be replaced before a sucCessful test could be obtained.
Other than this one failure, I found the rig in excellent condition and a well
trained drilling crew on tower.
SUMMARY: Witnessed BOPE Test at BPX PBU E-38 well on Nabors 28E

Sunday, September 3, 1995: i traveled to BPX's E-Pad to witness a B.O.P.E. test
on Nabors 28E. The B.O.P.E. Test Report is attached.
The B.O.P.E. test on this rig last week was witnessed by Bobby Foster where there
were 8 failures. This test went much better which lasted for (3.5) hours and there
was (1) failure. An APl ring on the choke line failed, was changed out and retested
good. ! found the rig and location in good condition and crew in good spirits.
Summary.' i witnessed a B.O.P.E. test on Nabors 28E drilling PBU E-38. The test
lasted for (3.5) hours and there was (1) failure.

Saturday, August 26, 1995: I traveled to BPX's E-38 at 6:00AM on Friday, August
25 to witness the upcoming BOPE test. ! arrived at the rig at 7:00 AM and met with
Mike Downey, Nabors toolpusher, and Charlie Dixon, Drilling rep. Mike informed me
that the BOP stack had just been over hauled and we may have a few flange leaks,
but foresaw no major problems.
The crew got ready to test at 10:00AM starting with the annular preventer, which
tested OK. Next the top pipe rams were closed and the choke and kill line HCR
valves were closed. The kill line HCR valve leaked - the manual kill was closed and
the pressure was brought up to 5,000 psig. The ring gasket began to leak between
the mud X and the lower pipe rams. ! departed the location after 2.5 hours of
watching the crew hammer on the hub clamp. I returned to the rig at 5:00PM and
the crew was removing the mud X. I told Charlie to give me a call when they were
ready to test. At 5:10 AM on 8/26/95 Mike called and said was ready to test and
had 5,000psig on the stack. I arrived at the rig at 5:50 AM and went to the rig floor-
the crew was tightening a clamp on the choke line - it still leaked - the ring was
removed and it was discovered that the wrong type had been installed. This was
corrected and the test began again. The choke manifold was tested and then
another ring gasket began to leak. ! again departed the location to do SVS test at
another location. I returned to the location at 3:30PM and the crew was still testing.
Everything had been tested except the blind rams, which were leaking - they were
changed out and tested OK. The kill line HCR valve began to leak again - it was
greased, cycled and retested OK.
The * on the attached AOGCC BOPE Test Report denotes the items that l did not
witness the testing of.

Request to AOGCC for Annular Pumping Approval for E-38:
1. Approval is requested for Annular Pumping into the E-38 10-3/4" x 7-5/8" casing annulus.

Aquifers in the Prudhoe Bay Field Western Operating Area (including K Pad) have been exempted from
Class II injection activities by the AOGCC by Aquifer Exemption Order #1 as referenced in Area Injection
Order #3. There are no domestic or industrial use water wells located within one mile of the project area.
3. The 10-3/4" casing shoe will be set at 3657' MD (3645' TVD) which is below the Permafrost and in shale
formations in the Sagavanirtok above the Ugnu Formation.

The burst rating (80%) for the 10-3/4" 45.5# NT-80 casing is 4,170 psig while the collapse rating
(80%) of the 7-5/8" 29.7# L-80 casing is 3,830 psig. The break down pressure of the Ugnu formation
is 13.5 ppg equivalent mud weight. The Maximum Allowable Surface Pressure while annular pumping is
calculated according to the following equation and is 2215 psi for a 10.0 ppg fluid in this well (Assumes
worst case in which 7-5/8" casing is filled with gas).
MASP = 3830 psig - ((fluid density ppg - 1.9) X 0.052 X 10-3/4" Casing Shoe TVD)
5. A determination has been made that the pumping operation will not endanger the integrity of the well being
drilled by the submission of data to AOGCC on 7/24/95 which demonstrates the confining layers, porosity,
and permeability of the injection zone.
6. The cement design for this well ensures that annular pumping into hydrocarbon zones will not occur.

Install blowout prevention equipment consisting of 5,000 psi W.P. pipe rams, blind rams,
and annular preventer. Test BOPE to 5,000/250 psi.

Test 10-3/4" casing to 3,000 psi for 30 minutes. A formation leak-off test will be
performed 10' below the 10-3/4" shoe to a minimum of 12.5 ppg EMW.

Directionally drill 9-7/8" hole & building to horizontal target in the Sag River @ 9,021'
MD/8,728' TVD. TIH w/9-7/8" hole opener if needed. Run 7-5/8" 29.7# L-80 NSCC
casing and cement with Class G cement to 1000' MD above the top of the hydrocarbon-
bearing sand @ 7,278' MD. The annulus will be freeze protected with dry crude if not
annular injecting. Test casing to 3,500 psi.

TIH w/6-3/4" BHA. PU 3-1/2" DP. Drill 10' of new hole and displace to Xanvis KC1
mud system. Directionally drill the 6-3/4" horizontal hole to TD. RIH w/ 6-3/4"
holeopener and 7-5/8" scraper spaced out to near the bottom of the 7-5/8" casing.
Circulate horizontal section clean.

Run 4-1/2" 12.6# L-80 NSCT slotted liner with TIW SS packer. The liner will be set at
TD and lapped _+150' inside 7-5/8" casing shoe. Displace Xanvis KC1 mud with filtered
seawater.

Run 4-1/2" L-80 tubing with SSSV, GLM's, and 7-5/8" x 4-1/2" packer assembly.
Circulate corrosion inhibitor into tubing annulus. Set packer and test tubing annulus w/
3,500 psi.
9. Set BPV. ND BOPE.
10. Freeze protect well to 2200' TVD through shear valve in top GLM station. Release rig.
Drilling Hazards
· One hydrocarbon-bearing zone is found above the Sag River formation @ 7,278' md based on
E Pad logs. The zone is expected to be normal pressure with a relatively low permeable sand.
· A minimum of 9.5 ppg mud weight will be used to drill the Cretaceous injection interval. This
will allow a 100 psi trip margin over the expected 9.0 ppg EMW @ 4000' sstvd.
· A range of mud weights from 9.0 ppg to 9.2 ppg will be used to drill the Sag River interval
after intermediate casing has been set.
