Supervisor ~.~-~ DATE: December 7, 2000 FROM: SUBJECT: Jeff Jones, Petroleum Inspector Safety Valve Tests Prudhoe Bay Unit BPX / F-Pad Thursday' December 7, 2000: I traveled to BPX's F-Pad in the Prudhoe Bay' Field to witness Safety Valve System tests. Merv Liddelow, BPX representative in charge of testing, performed the tests in a safe and proficient manner. Of the 28 wells tested, 10 failures were witnessed. For the most part, frozen contaminants (w. ater) in the block valves upstream of the pilots and in the SSV hydraulic control lines caused the failures. On 12/8/00 Mr. Liddelow indicated to me that ail SVS failures had been corrected and successfully re-tested. The 17.8% SVS failure rate requires a 90-day test cycle for this pad. The AOGCC test report is attached for reference. I conducted 28 well house inspections concurrent with the SVS tests. Due to recent high winds, several well houses were drifted with snow inside. In addition, SVS hydraulic fluid leaks were noted on wells F-12 and F-13A. Mr. Liddelow indicated that these items would be addressed. No other exceptions were noted. SUMMARY: I witnessed SVS tests and conducted well house inspections on BPX's F-Pad in the Prudhoe Bay Field. 17.8% failure rate = 90 day test cycle. 28 wells, 56 components tested. 10 failures. 17.8% failure rate. 28 well house inspections conddcted." Rig 1 PBU F-16A PTD 96-0160 Friday, November 1, 1996: I witnessed the BOPE Test at BPX PBU F-16A well on Nordic Calista Services Rig 1. This was the initial BOPE test conducted on this rig since it's modification to a Coil Tubing Drilling Unit. I found the rig in excellent condition with a well trained drilling and CTU crew on board. The drilling crew was very knowledgeable about our test procedure resulting in a smooth test. As the attached AOGCC BOPE Test report indicates there were no failures, and all new equipment was in compliance with AOCGG regulations. The well is being sidetracked to achieve lower GOR production. This sidetrack will be conducted in two phases. Phase 1: Cut Window: Planned for Sept. 25, 1996. - The existing Ivishak perforations will be cement squeezed. - A whipstock will be set on ELine at approximately 9031' MD. Utilizing a conventional coil tubing unit, a window will be cut in the 7" liner and 10 ft of formation will be drilled. Phase 2: Drill Directional Hole: Planned for Oct. 1, 1996. - Directional drilling coil tubing equipment will be dgged up and utilized to drill the directional hole as per attached plan to planned TD of 10,998' MD (8964' TVDss). Mud Program: - Phase 1: Seawater - Phase 2: FIo-Pro (8.8 - 8.9 ppg) Casing Program: - 2 7/8", 6.16#, L-80, ST-L liner will be run from TD to approx. 8280' MD and cemented with approx. 70 cu. ft. cement. The well will then be perforated with coil tubing conveyed guns. Well Control: BOP diagrams for both drilling and completion phases are attached. - Pipe rams, blind rams and the CT pack off will be pressure tested to 400 psi and to 4000 psi. - The annular preventer will be tested to 400 psi and 2000 psi. Directional - See attachments. - Kick Off: 9042' MD (8630' TVD ss) - TD: 1 0,998' MD (8,964' TVD ss) - Magnetic and inclination surveys will be taken every 25 ft. No gyro will be run.
