Commis~io~ Anchorase ~$~~s~ ~ _ ti po Enclosed please find multiple copies of a spreadsheet with a list of wells from GPB L- Pad that were treated with corrosion inhibitor in the surface casing by conductor annulus. The corrosion inhibitor is engineered to prevent water from entering the annular space and causing external corrosion that could result in a surface casing leak to atmosphere. The attached spreadsheet represents the well name, API and PTD numbers, top of cement depth prior to filling and volumes of corrosion inhibitor used in each conductor. As per previous agreement with the AOGCC, this letter and spreadsheet serve as notification that the treatments took place and meet the requirements of form 10-404, Report of Sundry Operations. If you require any additional information, please contact me or my alternate, Anna Dube, at 659-5102. West End New Developments PO Box 196612 Anchorage AK 99519 Re: Wells NWE 1-0lA, NWE 1-02 and NWE 2-01 Dear Mr. Pospisil: Enclosed please find 3 Applications for Sundry Approval to extend operation shutdown for each of the above referenced wells until April 2002 that we are returning to you because the current status of each of these wells makes these sundry applications unnecessary. Well Completion Reports have been filed for wells NWE 1-0lA and NWE 1-02. Therefore, the status for those two wells is shut-in and they should be included with the shut in wells list required by 20 AAC 25.115. A Well Completion Report has also been filed for Well NWE 2-01. Our records also reflect that the well has a downhole cement plug covering the reservoir interval and extending up in to the casing. The well is filled with 9.6ppg mud to the base of permafrost and has diesel freeze protection to surface. Our records reflect that the well has never been flow tested and is not in pressure communication with the reservoir. Although the well does not have a near surface plug as required by 20 AAC 25.110(d), the well condition satisfies the requirements of 20 AAC 25.112(i) because it provides for at least equally effective prevention of fluid movement into sources of hydrocarbons or freshwater. The Commission will, therefore consider the well suspended. If you have any additional questions, please contact Tom Maunder or Bob Crandall at the above telephone number. The request is submitted in accordance with the requirements of 20 AAC 25.072. If you need additional information, please contact Bruce W. Smith at 564-5093. NWE 1-0la is an appraisal well drilled from an ice pad located in T12NR11E section 34, in the western portion of the Prudhoe Bay Unit in early 1998. The well was left in a mechanically safe condition, which would allow us either to resume further testing or to complete the well for development operations. One-year operation shutdown was approved in April 1998, extended in May 1999 and February 2000. Since the drilling of this well, the owners have made progress in evaluating the drilling results and in the potential development for the area. The owners are currently engaged in a conceptual engineering effort to better define pad and pipeline requirements for the area. Gravel has been laid out to this well and NWE 1-02. The gravel road will allow drilling and testing year-round, not just during winter ice season. Extension of the operations shutdown for NWE 1-0la will preserve additional appraisal, testing and/or development options at this location. The drilling rig was moved off location on April 14, 1998. Due to increased seasonal temperatures and subsequent deterioration of the ice pad, it is no longer feasible to initiate planned perforation and testing operations at this time. It is requested that all operations on this well be shut down until such time as further access to the well can be obtained for perforation, testing and/or production. It is anticipated these operations will be conducted no later than the 1998/1999 winter ice season. The status of the well as of this date is shown on the attached wellbore schematic. · The well is fully cased and cemented (7" casing and 3-1/2" liner tested to 3500 psi) · 3-1/2" Tubing run and stung into liner top PBR and tested (tubing internal tested to 4000 psi, 3-1/2" x 7" annulus tested to 3500 psi). · All surface equipment is installed and tested (tree tested to 5000 psi) · Back Pressure Valve (BPV) is installed in the tubing hanger. · The well is NOT perforated. Maximum anticipated surface pressure assuming gas in entire annulus (0.1 ppg) is 3191 psi. Hazards The Kuparuk interval is overpressured due to gas injection in the Kuparuk Operating Unit. AIT run compute standoff and eccentered. Rollers and knuckle joints ran to pass high deviation on 3 run. 1st run would not pass 5450', 2nd run removed sonic and reached 5616' wiper trip after run 2. No problems encountered getting down after Wiper trip. Line tension was very high while logging due to well dogleg.
