L5-16 was originally drilled in March of 1987, and completed in zones 4,5, and 6. It has produced at total of 1.53 MMBO since it was originally brought on line in 1987. Currently the well is cycling between 400-500 BOPD. The well is typically on line for approximately 5 days until it reaches MGOR of 30,000 SCF/STB. The well is shut in for approximately 20 days. The cycle has been repeating for the last several years. No outstanding integrity issues exist with the parent wellbore. Extensive stimulation work has been performed on this well and there is little opportunity for further well work. Nordic 2 rigged up on L5-16 on May 12, 2006, and successfully completed a workover in preparation for the CTD UBD sidetrack. That work was completed under Sundry Approval 306-120. The sidetracks, L5-16A, L5-16A L1, and L5-16A L2 will kick off from separate windows milled from mechanical whipstocks set in Lisburne Zone 4. Targets for the 3 laterals are in zone 4, 5, and 6. If real time well testing does not indicate that the wells have encountered fracturing or high productivity rock, an open hole sidetrack in a different azimuthal direction will be considered, but will not be permitted at this time due to uncertainty over the alternate well path. If an open hole sidetrack of L5-16A proves to be needed, then a Permit application for an additional lateral will be submitted at that time. This is the 2"d of 2 CTD underbalanced wells planned for the Lisburne field this summer. Extensive planning for success has been made, and is ongoing. Blade Energy Partners, which is a consulting firm specializing in UBD has been engaged to assist in project planning, personnel training, and on side assistance during the drilling phase of the project. Well control equipment has been designed specifically for the planned operation and procedures have been written to cover each aspect of the operation. There has been HSE and operational training conducted for the town and field staff using a UBD simulator. All relevant contractors, crew and engineering staff have completed this training. HAZid and HAZop procedures have been completed and overall planning has been Peer reviewed by operating partners and outside experts with specialization in coil tubing and underbalanced drilling operations. This underbalanced coil tubing drilling operation will use diesel as the power fluid and gas lift to achieve an underbalance of 200-400 psi while drilling. Return fluids will flow to an on site separator supplied by ASRC. The fluids will be separated and measured, then flowed to the Lisburne Production Center (LPC) at about 600 psi line pressure. There will be no flaring or compression involved in the project. The BOP stack drawing is significantly different than a standard CTD rig up, and is attached. This stack incorporates 6 BOP rams, an annular preventor, 2 flow spools, 2 swab valves, and a master valve. The UBD flow spool is located below double swab valves such that produced fluids do not flow through the upper four rams. An ESD valve on the outlet of the UBD flow spool along with double rams (Shear/seal and 2" pipe/slip • • combination) located below the UBD flow spool provide emergency shut in capability in the event of a flow line leak. Equipment and procedures for pressure deploying/undeploying the drilling BHA have been used successfully on the managed pressure drilling campaigns in the Kuparuk field in the past few years, and have been refined for the UBD process at Lisburne. A tubing retrievable SSSV has been installed during the workover specifically to provide additional pressure control capability. The attached drawings describe the BOP stack, the P & ID of the full process spread and a flow diagram that includes all surface equipment. Summary of Underbalanced Drilling and Completion Operations: 1. Move rig over well from L5-28. 2. Rig up 2" CTE, UBCTD Stack and BOPE. PT BOPE. 3. Mill L5-16A window with 2% KCL and biozan sweeps. (Top of window at 9100' MD, 881 T SS) 4. Drill L5-16A lateral using diesel/lift gas to achieve underbalance. 5. TD lateral and flow test well for 6 hours. 6. Set Baker whipstock/packer with tailpipe and PXX plug to isolate L5-16A. (Top of window at 9040' MD, 8761' SS) 7. Mill L5-16A L1 window with 2% KCL, and biozan sweeps. 8. Drill L5-16A L1 lateral using diesel/lift gas to achieve underbalance. 9. TD L1 lateral and flow test well for 6 hours. 10. Recover whipstock tray, and PXX plug. Set guidestock in L5-16A L1 lateral packer. 11. Set Baker whipstock/packer with tailpipe and PXX plug to isolate L5-16A L1. (Top of window at 8923' MD, 8653' SS) 12. Recover whipstock tray and PXX plug from L2 whipstock. Install hollow guidestock into L2 packer. 16. Set BPV. RD and move off well. Post RWO Status: • L5-16 has been worked over. The original perforations have been successful squeezed off. A 4-1/2" scab liner has been run and cemented. The production tubing has been replaced with new 4-1/2" L-80 tubing. A gas lift design has been run and the well is ready for the drilling phase of operations. Mud Program: • The window will be milled with 2% KCL with'/z ppb Biozan. Sweeps will be 2 ppb Biozan. • The 3 lateral sections will be drilled with diesel as the power fluid with gas lift used to underbalance the well. Viscosified mineral oil sweeps will be used for hole cleaning during drilling. • • • Kill Weight Fluid. 2% KCL will be in the rig pits on location. BHP with 2% KCL will be 3864 psi. Measured BHP is 3184 psi. 2% KCL will overbalance the formation pressure by 680 psi. OH/Tubing volume = 153 bbls. Disposal: • During the drilling phase all fluid and gas returns from the well will be pumped down the L5 pad production line and sent to the Lisburne Production Center for recycling. • All drilling and completion waste fluids and any other Class 11 wastes will go to Grind and Inject, or Pad 3. • All Class I wastes will go to Pad 3 for disposal. Casing Program: • None. All laterals will be completed open hole.
