It would appear that based on the small volume that was squeezed below the retainer that the straddle annulus likely did not get any cement placed in it. Since it is probable that there is hydrocarbon in that annulus, it is appropriate to place cement in the annulus above the packer. That will make it equivalent to the cement you have proposed to place above the retainer mentioned in your letter. I realize that may add a little work to your abandonment, but since you were not able to achieve what you had originally planned it is appropriate. Call or message with any questions. Tom Maunder, PE AOGCC Schwartz, Guy L wrote: Tom, Last night we attempted to cement the C sand straddle through a 3 1/2" retainer (EZSV) on 1 F-01 . After about 1 bbl of cement was through the retainer the formation locked up. We increased the coil tubing pressure to 4000 psi in an attempt to breakdown the formation but did not succeed (the rupture disk in the coil tubing blew out). We ended up unstinging from the retainer and circulating the rest of the cement out of the well. Our plan forward is to test the retainer (appears to hold pressure from below) and then lay in a 80' plug of cement on top of it. Will then tag and pressure test as per normal guidelines. There will be a CIBP set in the 7" casing once the tubing is pulled to further isolate the zones below. lof2 4/7/20053:46 PM RE: IF-OJ (PTD 182-219) P & A CTU cement job ) ) Let me know if you have any questions or thoughts about modifying this plan. The plan ahead is to P & A the well with a CTU cement squeeze in preparation for a rotary sidetrack KOP of 6232' MD. It is proposed to set a CTU cement retainer at 8030' MD, squeeze off perfs and lay 50' of cement on top of retainer. A CMIT will be performed and E-Line will be used to chemical cut tubing above the PKR at 7700' MD. Following the P & A procedure the rotary rig will then pull the tubing, set a CIBP/whipstock at the kickoff point and drill out the 7" casing. The tentative depth for the 7" casing window is about 6200'. The IF-01 sidetrack will re-access A and C sand reserves that are no longer producible from the current IF-Ol wellbore and can potentially access un-swept reserves in both the A and C sands. The targeted reserves will be accessed by replacing the original 1 F-O 1 wellbore with a vertical 4-1/2" monobore pilot (rotary rig) and then two lateral legs will be drilled with Coil Tubing. Procedure outline: 1. PT wellhead packoffs (Tubing, IC and OC). Cycle Tubing LDS' s 2. Pull X plug in tubing. (CMIT passed in Nov. 2004). 3. Perform injectivity test into perfs. 4. Set Cement retainer in 3 V2" tubing at 8030' (just above top straddle packer). 5. RU CTU, Rlli to 8030' and sting into cement retainer. Pump cement until squeeze pressure is achieved... should be about 9 bbls cement to fill tubing and annulus. Attempt to squeeze 2-3 bbls cement into formation. 6. Pull out of cement retainer and lay in 50' cement plug to 7980' md. 7. RU Slickline after 24 hr wait and tag top of cement. PT to 2000 psi with AOGCC witness present. 8. Rig up E-line and chemical cut tubing at approx. 7700'. 9. Set VR and BPV. Remove wellhouse and flowlines. 10. MIRU rig 11. Pull tubing. 12. Set CIBP with E-line at approx. 6230' 13. Proposed downhole stimulation work will reduce near wellbore damage to increase well productivity. The proposed work will utilize a pump truck, coiled tubing, and surface lines to displace the acid across the C Sand perforations. The surface lines will be pressure tested to 4000 psi against the 5000 psi tree valves. Static bottomhole pressures from a wellhead pressure and fluid level indicate BHP of 2600 psig in the A Sand and 3400 psig in the C Sand. Procedure 10. 11. 12. 13. 14. 15. 1. MIRU Slickline. Pressure test lubricator. 2. RIH with blanking plug. Set in NOGO at 8306 FT MD-RKB. 3. POOH and RDMO Slickline. Open well to production. 4. Allow stabilization and obtain C Sand only test. 5. MIRU CTU, Transports, Nitrogen, and Pumps. Pressure test equipment. 6. Titrate 12% HCL(10% < HCL<14% Acceptable) 7. RIH with CTU to 8259 FT MD-RKB and spot 5 BBLS musol, 5 BBLS straight acid, and 50 BBLS nitrified acid across circulating valves. A. Pump 5 barrels musol. B. Pump 5 barrels straight acid. C. Pump remaining 50 BBLS nitrified acid at a rate of 1.0 BPM. (1) Nitrify with 200 SCF per BBL nitrogen. 8. Displace with 5 BBLS diesel and purge coiled tubing with nitrogen. 9. Immediately return well to production. Nitrogen lift if necessary. A. Attempt to flow well at reduced rates to allow fines removal. RDMO CTU, Transports, Nitrogen, and Pumps. Flow at reduced rates prior to fully opening choke. Obtain a C Sand only test. MIRU Slickline. Pressure test lubricator. RIH and pull blanking plug in NOGO at 8306 FT MD-RKB. POOH and RDMO Slickline. If proposal was verbally approved Name of approver Date3/7/88 .: Well 1F-01 General Description Well 1F-01 is currently a combined A and C Sand oil producer. Proposed downhole stimulation work will reduce near wellbore damage to increase well productivity. The proposed work will utilize a pump truck and surface lines to displace the musol diesel across the C Sand perforations. The surface lines will be pressure tested to 4000 psi against the 5000 psi tree valves. Static bottomhole pressures from a wellhead pressure and fluid level indicate BHP of 2400 psig in the A Sand and 3200 psig in the C Sand. Procedure 1. MIRU pump truck and transports. Pressure test equipment. 2. Pump 2340 gallons musol diesel and displace with 72 barrels diesel. Surface injection pressure should remain below 3500 psi. 3. Allow to soak for I hour. 4. RDMO pump truck and transports. ARCO Alaska Inc. is a subsidiary of Atlantic Richfield Company AR3B-6OO1-A Attachment ! !
