Subject: Corrosion Inhibitor Treatments of GPB U Pad
Dear Mr. Maunder,
Enclosed please find multiple copies of a spreadsheet with a list of wells from U Pad
that were treated with corrosion inhibitor in the surface casing by conductor annulus.
The corrosion inhibitor is engineered to prevent water from entering the annular space
and causing external corrosion that could result in a surface casing leak to atmosphere.
The attached spreadsheet represents the well name, API and PTD numbers, top of
cement depth prior to filling and volumes of corrosion inhibitor used in each conductor.
As per previous agreement with the AOGCC, this letter and spreadsheet serve as
notification that the treatments took place and meet the requirements of form 10 -404,
Report of Sundry Operations.

DS pump 4 bbls 16 ppg neat Class G cement, 8 bbls w/aggregate, 10 bbls neat. With nozzle above
Sag perfs and choke closed, downsqueeze cement. No pressure response. Pull to safety. Circulate
on FOC at minimum rate - full returns. POOH. Pressure test plug to 1500 psi for 30 minutes. Held
solid. LD cementing BHA. MU window milling BHA. RIH with 3.80" dimple mill on flex it. Mill XN
nipple at 9159'. RIH and tag cement at 9375'. Drill hard cement at 20 FPH to whipstock at 9499'.
Attempt to mill window and made little progress. POOH to check BHA. Found CTC leaking. Mill had
center wear indicating good start on window. Change motor and mill.
03/20/99 3 9510'
Install new CTC. MU and RIH with dimple mill #2 on new motor. Mill window 9499~950'4'. POOH.
RIH with BHA #3 (UG mill and string reamer). Ream window area and drill new hole to 9510' while
displacing to used FIo Pro mud. POOH for drilling BHA. LD milling BHA. MU drilling BHA. Install
new CTC.

RIH with drilling BHA #4 (1.7 deg motor; M09 bit). Orientor not working. POOH. Change orientor.

bit). RIH to TD and begin displacement to new Fie Pro mud. Orient to high right to begin 125' TVD
invert from 8932' TVD. Drill from 10145-301'

Build angle quicker than expected. Backream trip to window. Drill right turn 10301' - 10500' while
smoothing out build. Begin left turn and drill 10500' - 10696' (8868' TVD) while continuing planned
build. POOH for less aggressive motor to make next turn and stay in the middle of fairway. LD BHA.
MU BHA #9 (1.0 deg motor, same M09X bit). RIH to TD. Drill from 10696-10818' and continue
build, but made slow progress due to bit bailing. POOH for bit. Change out bit. RIH w/BHA #10
(1.0° motor, DS49 bit). Drill from 10818-838' (8844' TVD) building in invert section.

Drill left turn 10838' - 10860' holding inclination. Drill 10860' - 10910' with right TF to stay in
requested window. Continue drilling left turn and start drop 10960' - 10994'. Short trip to window.
Drill from 10994-11020' continuing build. Begin planned drop at 8813' TVD. Drill from 11020-112'
dropping angle. Short trip to window. Drill ahead to 11400'. Short trip to window. Lost 38 bbl on short
trip. Drill ahead to 11560', losing 0.3 - 0.5 bpm.
03/25/99 8 12022'
Drill from 11560-610' (8863' TVD) slowly dropping angle and losing 0.3-0.5 bpm while drilling. Wiper
trip to window. Tie-in, corr -5'. Drill from 11610-785' continuing planned drop to 8900' TVD. Losses
increased after wiper trip to 0.5-0.7 bpm, but healed to 0.5 bpm while drilling. Wiper trip to window.
Drill from 11785-827' with more agressive drop to revised TVD of 8925'. Taking negative string wt to
drill ahead. POOH to streamline BHA. OOH, found leak at CT Connector. Change out motor to 1.25
deg, bit OK, re-run. Install new CT Conn. Pull test and pressure test. TIH, shallow test Sperry tools-
OK. Drill ahead, losing 0.3 - 0.5 bpm.
03/26/99 9 11840'
RIH after 300' short trip. Could not work past 11840'. Noticed abnormal CT pressure loss after
adding fresh mud. POOH to check BHA. Found 2-3/8 CSH pin at top of Sperry equalizer sub had
parted leaving equalizer sub, shock sub, motor and bit in hole (17.53'). Perform weekly BOPE test.
RIH with straight motor and bit to clean out. Set down on fish at 11840'. Attempt to beat down-no
movement. Backream to window for logs. POOH, PU PDS Memory Resistivity tools. TIH, log down
from 9300' to 11840'. Log 300' repeat pass. Log up from 11840' at 30 fpm to 9300'. POOH, LD BHA
and download memory tools. Hold Safety Meeting. Rig up to run 2 7/8" Liner.
03/27/99 10 11768'
PU and TIH wi2 7/8" Liner to 11835'. Reciprocate liner, drop ball to release CTLRT. Ball on seat and
sheared at 3550 psi. Displace hole to 2% KCI. Mix and pump 27.3 Bbl cement, drop dart and
displace w/2% KCI. Dart on seat and sheared Liner Wiper Plug at 3600 psi. Displace Liner Wiper
plug to latch collar. Pressure to 2500 psi. Bleed off pressure and check floats~K. Pressure to 500
psi and pull out of liner top. Circulate and clean up liner top. Circulate while POOH. Got cement
contaminated water to surface (total 15 bbl w/slight cement contamination). PU 2.25" nozzle and
2740' of 1 4,4" CS Hydril pipe, TIH to liner top. Cement compressive strength at 0 psi. Circulate at
liner top and wait on cement.
03/28/99 11 11768'
Circ at TOL, WOC. RIH with nozzle to PBTD, clean. Displace liner to new FIo Pro. POOH for perf
guns. Standback CSH workstring. Load perf guns in pipeshed. Hold Safety Meeting. PU perf guns.
PU 1 ~,4" CS Hydril, TIH. Tag PBTD at 11768', PU and position bottom shot at 11,730'. Drop 5/8" stee;
firing ball. Ball on seat and sheared at 3600 psi indicating guns fired. POOH, stand back I ~,4" CS
Hydril. Hold Safety Meeting, LD guns.

The permit to redrill does not exempt you from obtaining additional permits required bx' law from
other governmental agencies, and does not authorize conducting drilling operations until all other
required permitting determinations are made.
Blowout prevention equipment (BOPE) must be tested in accordance with 20 AAC 25 035.
Sufficient notice (approximately 24 hours) must be given to allow a representative of the
Commission to witness a test of BOPE installed prior to drilling new hole. Notice max' be given
by contacti~m field inspector on the North Slope pager at 659-3607.

U-08a Sidetrack
Summary of Operations:
U-08 is currently shut in due to declining productivity and high water cut.. The sidetrack, U-08a,
will target Zone 4 reserves to be swept by U-03i and U-10i injectors.
This sidetrack will be conducted in two phases.
Phase 1: Set whipstock and downsqueeze abandonment cement: Planned for
10112198.
A mechanical whipstock will be set at 9,532'.
Existing perforations will be abandoned with approx. 20 bbls cement. Abandonment cement
for Ivishak perforations will be downsqueezed past the mechanical whipstock. Sag R. perfs
above the whipstock depth will be cement squeezed. Abandonment cement will be
pressure tested to 1500 psi with AOGCC witness. This procedure is described in more
detail in the Form 10-403.
Phase 2: Mill Window and Drill Directional Hole: Planned for 10119198.
Directional drilling coil tubing equipment will be rigged up and utilized to mill the
window and drill the directional hole as per attached plan.
Mud Program: - Phase 1: Seawater
- Phase 2: FIo-Pro (8.8 - 8.9 ppg)
Disposal: - No annular injection on this well.
- All drilling and completion fluids and other Class II wastes will go to CC-2a for injection.
- All Class 1 wastes will go to Pad 3 for disposal.
Casing Program:
-2 7/8", 6.16#, L-80, ST-L liner will be run from TD to approx. 9,145' MD and cemented with
approx. 20 bbls. cement. The well will then be perforated with coil tubing conveyed guns.
Well Control: - BOP diagram is attached.
- Pipe rams, blind rams and the CT pack off will be pressure tested to 400 psi and to 4000 psi.
- The annular preventer will be tested to 400 psi and 2000 psi.
Directional - See attachments.
- Kick Off: 9,532' MD (8,751' TVD'ss)
- TD: 11,684' MD (8,925' TVD ss)
- Magnetic and inclination surveys will be taken every 30 ft. No gyro will be run.
Logging - A Gamma Ray log will be run over all of the open hole section.
- A full suite of open hole logs will be conveyed on drilling coil utilizing a side entry sub.
