Supervisor ~, .-..-¢/ FROM: John Crisp, J~,,, ~, SUBJECT: Petroleum Inspector Safety Valve Tests Prudhoe Bay Unit J Pad Nov..ember 127 2000: I traveled to BP's Prudhoe Bay Field J Pad to witness Safety Valve System tests. Safety Valve tests had been d~elaye_d for 2 days due to blowing snow Phase 3 weather conditions. I met with BP rep. Merv Littlelow & discussed SVS tests on J Pad. Merv & I decided that we could safely test valves as soon as Roads & Pads could clean a path to well houses & skid 52. Well houses had fair amount of snow inside the houses due to the extended blow. Testing was conducted in as safe & efficient manner as conditions would allow. The AOGCC test report is attached for reference. SUMMARY: I witnessed SVS tests on PBU J Pad. 8 wells, 16 components tested. No failures witnessed. 8 Well houses inspected. Thomas A Brockway wrote: Blair, As I mentioned on the phone this morning, I was wondering about a change in the proposed drill and complete procedures which have been submitted for the upcoming Tabasco wells 2T-204 and 2T-218. The rig that is scheduled to drill these wells, Nabors 16E, is currently +/- 17 days ahead of schedule on it's current project and these wells have been accelerated to the point that completion equipment will not arrive on the slope before the rig will need it. In order to prevent having to shut down the rig to wait on completion equipment I would like to do the following: 1) Drill and case the surface hole on 2T-204, topsetting the Tabasco production interval as per plan 2) Suspend 2T-204 and move to 2T-218 3) Drill and case surface hole on 2T-218; drill intermediate hole; run and cement intermediate liner string topsetting the Tabasco production interval as per plan 4) Suspend 2T-218 and move back to 2T-204 5) Drill out and complete 2T-204 as per plan 6) Move to 2T-218 7) Drill out and complete 2T-218 as per plan No other drilling or completion procedures will change from the original submitted APD's and Nabors 16E will still be used to drill and complete the wells as per the original permits and sundries. Could you please let me know if I will need to fill out any 403 Sundry forms to reflect these scheduling changes or will this e-mail suffice in this case. As we discussed, we would like to change the planned 7" long string to a 7"liner with 150' of liner lap, and bring oement to 1000' MD above the top of the Sag River formation. The cement top from the coil tubing squeeze of the J-O5a perforations was tagged at 8,978' wire line depth. I would also like to clarify that the cement squeezed into the J-O5a perforations and the bridge plug we will set at -5, 900' will satisfy your requirements for isolation of the original we//bore. Also, as we discussed the temperature survey that you researched shows the cement top of the original 9 5/8" cement job to be at 4, 850', prot4ding additional isolation. Diverter, BOPE and drilling fluid system schematics on file with the AOGCC. · Maximum anticipated BHP: 3227 psi @ 8590' TVDss - Top of Sag River · Maximum surface pressure: 2606 psi @ surface (based on BHP and a full column of gas from TD @ 0.10 psi/ft) J-05b Permit to Drill · Planned completion fluid: 8.5 ppg filtered sea water/6.8 ppg Diesel · Planned BOPE test pressure is 3500 psi. Drilling Hazards/Contingencies: HYDROGEN SULFIDE - H2S · J pad is not designated as an H2S drill site. The highest level of H2S measured recently on J pad was 50 ppm (on well J-26 on 6/7/99) with typical measurements near 10 ppm. Standard Operating Procedures for H2S precautions should be followed at all times. DRILLING CLOSE APPROACH: There are no close approach issues for this well. Intermediate Section: , Hole condition and shale stability will be the most significant risk in this hole section. The kingak shale is planned to be drilled with a maximum inclination of ~ 64° which will require an anticipated mud weight of 11.2 ppg in order to maintain stability. · The plannned well path does not cross any know faults. · The FIT test is planned to 12.5 ppg EMW, which is 1.7 ppg above the planned mud weight at TD of the hole interval. PRODUCTION SECTION' Lost circulation risk is Iow since there are no faults identified in the wellpath. There is always the potential for small subseismic faulting, but those are not expected to cause problems. PWD pressure monitoring equipment will be used on the well while drilling to minimize the risk of losses due to ECD. The kick tolerance for the 9 5/8" whipstock exit point would be an infinite influx assuming a gas influx in the Sag River at 8,600' TVDss. This is considering the worst case scenario that the mud weight of 10.2 ppg encounters 7.6 ppg reservoir pressures if the Sag River formation was in pressure communication with the Ivashak. This also assumes a minimum fracture gradient of 12.0 ppg at the 9 5/8" window. Disposal: · No annular injection in this well. · Cuttings Handling: Class II drilling waste will be disposed at DS-4 grind and inject facility. Any Class I wastes generated will be taken to Pad 3 for disposal. RECEIVED FEB 1 5 2000 Alaska Oil & Gas Cons. Commission J-05b Permit to Drill SUMMARY SIDETRACK PROCEDURES Planned Pre-Rig Operations 1. Drift tubing. 2. RU coil and P&A existing perforations with 15.8 ppg Class G cement to place TOC at 9,000' MD (Note: Open perfs from 10,790' - 10,820', 10,870' - 10,900', and CIBP at 11,100'). Squeeze the cement into place. Tag and test to meet AOGCC requirements. 3. The 9 5/8" casing is set on slips. Test the 9 5/8" pack off to 3500 psi (80% of the casing collapse rating). Test the tubing hanger to 5,000 psi. On both the tubing hanger and the 9 5/8" casing head, COMPLETELY BACK OUT AND CHECK EACH LOCK DOWN SCREW for breakage (check one at a time). Notify the ODE, Scott Kolstad, immediately concerning any problems with backing out the lock down screws or other potential well head problems. 4. Test the 9-5/8" casing to 3,000 psi against the packer. Hold 1,000 psi on the tubing to prevent from collapsing the tubing. 5. Confirm that the well is dead. Punch the 7" tubing near 8300' and circulate the well to equalize the hydrostatic pressure at depth. Chemical cut the 7" production tubing in the middle of a joint near 6,325' (above PBR and 7" liner hanger/ packer assembly). The chemical cut depth is approximately 2,000' above tubing punch. 6. Set a BPV in preparation for the rig move. Assure the IA and tubing are freeze protected to near 2,000' TVD. Rig Sidetrackinq Procedure 10. 1. MIRU. ND tree, NU and test BOPE. Circulate out freeze protect fluid and circulate well to milling fluid through pre rig tubing cut and confirm well is dead. 2. Pull and LD 7" tubing down to the tubing cut at 6,325'. 3. Replace 9-5/8" pack off if necessary. 4. Set bridge plug in 9 5/8" casing at approximately 5,950'. Pressure test the 9 5/8" casing to 3000 psi. 5. PU Bit and whipstock mills for 9 5/8" 47 Cf casing. RIH with whipstock to place KOP within the West Sak formation at 5900' MD. 6. RIH with bottom trip whipstock for 9 5/8" 47# casing. Whipstock sidetrack at +/- 5900' MD. 7. Drill 8 Y2" hole from 5,900' to 9,996' to land at about 64 degrees in the Sag River formation. Run MWD/GR/Res+PWD real time LWD. No other logs are planned. 8.
