Gent lemen:
In regard to the above referenced regulations, your attention
is called to an attached list ef %-~ells which, according to our
records, have not received a final location ins]~,ection and
approval of clean up. In compliance with 20 AAC 25. 170 Section
(a), "~ithin one year of susl.~ension or abandopment of an on-
shore well", all clean up work is to ~ finisl~e(]. Section (b)
provides tke means for an extension of tir,~e if a valid reason
exists. Section (c) provi,J, es for on site ins[:ection.
Consequently, we are ]?resenting the fol!o%~ing list of your
abandoned and/or susFended %,~el!s. Fiany of these are now more
than one year old and are not in compliance ~-,~ith regulations.
Others should have the final ins~uection co~]p!eted this summer
while ~,,~eather permits. This list covers the years 1975 to
date. 9?here may bc some earlier ~..~ells that also need ins[~ec-
tion. If you have any earlier %~;e!!s to be inspectec~, this
summer please inform, us.
Th. ereforc, we are requesting a schedule from you for this
summer when our field inspectors can accon]pany your representa-
tives to these sites for the final clean up inspection.

Dear Mr. Hamilton:
In reply to your letter of July 15, 1975, concerning final
location inspections on several of our North Slope wells, the
inspection of two wells on August 29 and subsequent conversa-
tions with F. W. Schall, this is to advise that we are pre-
paring cost estimates and making plans to cover the pits and,
hopefully, complete the necessary cleanup work this winter
season.
It is planned to have this problem taken care of by next
summer. We will keep you advised.
Very truly yours,

Kuparuk 9-11-12
.A_ugust 27, 1976 - I finished ~nspecting North Kuparuk State No. l, 6:15 PM.
i[e flew by Chopper to Kuparuk 9-11-12. I toured the location and the pit
area was filled and level. The marker .was up and all. location data. was
bead welded to the post. The pad was level and clean of debris. They
have a permanent diesel fuel storage fam~ here, but. would like a final
abandonment on the location. The tank farm around the fuel tanks is well
bermed. There is a pipe rack full of pipe onthe south end of the tank
farm. They added on to the pad for the tank farm..
Bud Abram, operator for Mobil, has a crew at the site to level a pile of
gravel beside the marker. There is a total of thirteen fuel tanks of diesel
fuel on the tank fan~'}. There are l0 small tanks and 3 large tanks with a
total of 575,000 gallons which will be on this site permanently. Bud Abram,
operator for Mobil, called our office 8/30/76 and told me the pile of gravel
beside the marker had been leveled. The haut road was also in good clean
shape.
In summary: I inspected Kuparu'k 9-11-12 for Mobil Oil and found the
location clean and level, pit filled and no debris around. The marker was
in place with all the data. I feel the drill site should be approved for
final abandonment, but emphasize on keeping the.pad in good shape as they use
the tank farm. One copy of this report and pictures to be mailed to Chris
Guinn, Alaska Division of Lands, 4420 Airport Road, Fairbanks 99701.
