Smith Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission 3001 Porcupine Street Anchorage, AK 99501 Dear L. C. Smith: Per our' conversation on September 4, 1985, ARCO Alaska, Inc. proposes to convert 110 production wells to water injection to implement fullfield waterflood of the Kuparuk River Unit. As discussed a single "blanket" sundry notice (form 10-403) has been completed for all well proposed to be converted to water injection. Individual subsequent sundry notices will be filed when the actual well conversions occur. As stated in form 10-403, well conversion to water injection will occur in two primary stages. The first stage Will'convert approximately four wells per drillsite to achieve a nine-spot pattern. First stage conversions are expected to be completed by approximately 10/15/85, prior to waterflood startup. The second stage, of conversions Will convert approximately four additional wells per drillsite to achieve a line drive pattern. Second stage conversions are expected to be completed mid-December to January 1986. I would like to express my thanks and appreciation to the Commission in working with ARCO Alaska, Inc. in this area. If you have any questions please call me at 263-4212. Sincerely, T. M. Weight to be determined after running pressure bomb. 2. Current completion assembly will be pulled. 3. A CBL will be run to verify cement quality between the "A" and "C" Sands. 4. The well will be completed as a selective single and 5000# wellhead equipment will be installed. 5. After the rig is released, an acid and/or frac job will be done. A 13-5/8", 5000 psi, SRRA BOP stack will be used on well work. BOP equipment will be tested weekly and operationally~tested each trip. A non-freezing fluid will be left in all uncemented annuli within the permafrost interval. A 5000 psi WP wireline lubricator will be used and tested on all wireline work. The subsurface safety valve will be installed and tested upon conclusion of the job. R£CEIVED Estimated Start: February 1, 1985 ! 7 985 14. ARCO Alaska, Inc. proposes to acidize ~Kuparuk River Unit Well 1E-26 through coiled tubing to improve the well's productivity. The initial production test on this well indicated a high skin factor and a corresponding low flow efficiency. Other Kuparuk wells with similar characteristics have shown marked improvements following acid treatments. The treatment will remover additives. to 4000 psig. The jus per 4OO Fol coi consist of 5838 gals of 12% HCl with mud and silt The coiled tubing unit BOP's will be pressure tested end of the coiled tubing will be positioned initially t below the lowermost perforations and then pulled up across the forations as the acid is pumped. Pump pressure will be limited to 0 psig and the tubing pressure will be limited to 1500 psig. lowing the acid treatment, nitrogen will be injected through the led tubing and aid the cleanup. During cleanup the well will be produced the cleanup the well will be produced to Expected start date' April 16, 1983 to tanks on location. :::, Following 14. Selected intervals will be logged. A 20',, 2000 psi annular diverter will be installed on the 16" conductor while drilling the surface hole. A 13-5/8", 5000 psi, RSRRA BOPE stack will be installed on the 10-3/4" surface pipe. It will be tested upon installation and weekly thereafter. Test pressure will be 3000 psig (1800 psi for annular). Maximum expected surface pressure is 2559 psig. Pressure calculations are based on current reservoir pressure. Surface pressure calculated with unexpanded gas bubble at surface including temperature effects. The well will be completed with 3-1/2", 9.2#, J-55 buttress tbg. Non-freezing fluids will be left in uncemented annuli through the permafrost interval. Selected intervals will be perforated within the Kuparuk formation and reported on subsequent reports. A downhole safety valve will be installed and tested upon comp]etion of the job. RECEIVED · 23.
