The current listed well permits were not issued by AOGCC. We added a seventh digit to the permit number and inturn created a database problem. I corrected this situation by changing the permit number to a new Y2K seven-digit permit number. The new Y2K permit number (first six digits) should be annotated on all reports submitted to AOGCC for these named wells in the future: Current Permit Well name New Y2K Permit Number 66-0056-1 Granite Pt St 31-14RD 1 100-265-0 66-0056-2 Granite Pt St 31-14RD2 100-266-0 74-0026-1 Soldotna Ck Unit 32B-09 100-267-0 72-0017-1 SoldotnaCk Unit 33A-08 100-268-0 80-0107 -1 Soldotna Ck Unit 41 B-09 100- 269-0 68-0044-1 Trading Bay Unit G-12RD 100-270-0 The permit number changes were made December 5, 1999 by AOGCC. Box 107-005 Anchorage, Alaska 99510-7005 Dear Mr. Wright: ARCO Alaska, Inc. (AAI) is planning redrill operations on three wells in the Swanson River Field and a workover on SCD 13-9 starting about May 28, 1990. The wells involved are SeD 32B-9, SCD 33-8, and SRU 21-34. As part of this activity, we plan to utilize groundwater from nearby water wells, which have been drilled previously. ~~.=-GEC:_ ._~~CL ASS I GECl ASST 'STAT TECH I 'S~tAtTËcH/ F1i.E , The drilling and testing activities on each well will last less than one month and we anticipate the daily water use to be approximately 10,000 gallons per day for each well. In anticipation of these and future redrill activities at Swanson River this summer, we request that by this application a temporary water use pennit be issued for each of these wells. To minimize the administrative workload on AAI and the Division of Land and Water Management, it would be preferred that AAI be issued a permit that would allow temporary use of any installed water well within the field for a period of one year. We feel the single pennit would adequately address the anticipated activities in the field. Periodic reports would be provided to ensure that the State, and Fish and Wildlife Service records are complete. AAI would, however, continue to obtain USF& \VS and BLM authorizations for field operations as needed. I have attached the Plan of Operations that applies to the planned activities and the required check for $100.00. If you have any questions or need additional information about these drilling operations, please contact me at 265-1501. I hope to hear from you at your earliest convenience due to the short-time frame before the work is planned to begin. Sincerely, ~ - ~ Q ,- ~. Vonderahe, on May 1, 1973, we request permission to eliminate the uppermost stage collar (3600') when cementing the 7 5/8" casing string. The stage collar near 7400' will still be used when cementing the well. Reasons for eliminating the stage collar are: 1. Well SCU 32-8, immediately adjacent to the subject well, is not cemented between the surface pipe and oil string, and zero (ðpsi) annulus pressure has been recorded from between these strings. There appears to be no need to tie the surface pipe with the oil string in subject well. 2. The mechanical risk in the failure of the stage collar to open resulting in perforating and squeeze cementing in 7 5/8" casing. 8 true ILnd correct ~E~Œ~'Œ~ MAY 1019/3 otV1:'¡" \ Ì" ~"L AHD GA' ANCHCQAGti SIGNED TITLE DATE -If/7) (Thl. .pace St8.~7 use) APPROVE BY ;r.~. r;;jl~ CONDITIONS OF APPROVAL, IF ANY: TITLÐ f~ 7 DATE r / / !j/ II 7'7 j " / SeG Instructions 0" Reverse Side Approved ~opy flèturned ~'~1/~~- P. ELEVATION: Approximately 130' G.L., 145' K.B. BLOWOUT PREVENTION CONSIDERATIONS: II 1. Potential Problems: Gas and Water Entries: Gas sands may be encountered at any depth below the shoe of the surface casing. No gas or water entries were reported while drilling Wells SCU 21-8, 32-8, 12-9, 41-8 and 43-8 with 96-100 pcf mud. Gas and water entries occurred at Well SCU 34-8 while drilling at +8200' and.± 10,300' with 93-94 pcf mud in the hole. Gas entries can be a problem on trips and bottoms up must be carefully watched. Care must also be exercised while drilling coal beds. If thick beds are peüetrated, reduce the drilling rate and circulate bottoms up to remove the gas. Note: Well SCU243-8 was completed in D sand gas intervals and Well SCU 43-8 also penetrated several such gas sands. It is likely that a fault trap exists on the upthrown block south of fault B. Accordingly, caution should be exercised when pene- trating the interval between 5500' and 6200'. Lost Circulation: Lost circulation occurred at seu 21-8 while drilling at 6800' with 93 pcf mud in the hole. While shut-in after a kick, lost circulation occurred at seu 13-34 in the interval from 3,100' to 4,400'. The point of major loss at SCU 13-34 is believed to have been in the more permeable sands from 3,100-3,400'. This interval will be cased off while drilling SCU 33-8. While drilling the Hemlock sands at seu 42-5 lost circulation occurred with 98 pcf mud in the hole. At SCU 33-8, 7-5/8" casing will be set above the Hemlock and the interval penetrated with lower weight mud. Precautions: Any kicks should be handled by our normal procedures. Drilling crews should be made aware of these methods. Care should be exercised at all times, but especially not to hydraulic the formation and lose circulation while running in the hole nor swab the hole while pulling.
