I witnessed the tagging of GC-1A cement plug tagged on top at 2438'. The tag was satisfactorily performed. Saturday, January 9, 1988: I inspected the top cement plug (that was s'et'"0n-~0P'"'o~ bridgePl-ug) set 150' below the surface back to the surface. I witnessed the plug set and 13 3/8" csg cut off down to approximately 4' below surface, and a marker plate with all pertinent well data bead welded on top of marker plate welded to the 13 3/8" stub. Judy Golden supervising the operations for SAPC told me she would take pictures of the stub, cement and marker plate and see that I receive them through security. I also received all abandonment data from SAPC. I received pictures of data on marker plate on GC-1A from security. In summary, the abandonment on GC-1A was performed satisfactorily. This proposal was discussed with AOGCC representatives Bill Barnwell, Blair Wondzell, Russ Douglas and Mike Minder at a meeting held November 18, 1987 at the Alaska Oil & Gas Conservation Commission, 3001 Porcupine Drive, Anchorage, Alaska. Well GC-1A requires abandonment because of wellbore fill across the perforation interval which is prohibiting fluid injection. PreVious attempts at-cleaning.out wellbore fill have met with only limited success. A replacement injection well is being planned at this pad~ and will be covered under a separate Permit To Drill. The abandonment of Well GC-1A is tentatively scheduled for December, 1987. Because of this fill problem, it is requested that a variance be made to 20 AAC 25.105 (h) (1) (A) requiring the placement of a cement plug across the perforation 'interval. The proposed abandonment procedure, inVolves setting a permanent bridge plug in the tailpipe and placing a minimum 250' cement plug above the bridge plug in both the-Production tubing, and the annulus. This will prevent fluid migration within the wellbore and will ensure that all subsurface waters are-confined to their indigenous strata. 'It is also requested...that a waiver be made to 20 AAC 25.120 (a) regarding a marker post .for abandonment. Such a marker post would present a physical..'.obstruction to future equipment mobility at the Gathering Center pad. Instead, it .is proposed to secure a steel plate- to the -..casing with the required-i'nformation"~bead- ---welded to-~the 'top-of the-plate as per 20 AAC 25.120'...(d). .-. WELL GC-1A ABANDONMENT PROCEDURE OUTLINE It is proposed t.o abondon Well GC-1A utilizing the following NRWO techniques: 1. Set permanent bridge plug in 4-1/2" tailpipe. Pressure test to confirm formation isolation. 2. Punch 4-1/2" tubing above packer at approx. 3750' MD. 3. Change tubing and inner annulus over to 9.6 ppg NaCl brine. 4. Rig up CTU. Batch mix low fluid loss Class G cement slurry. 5. RIH with CTU and tag 4-1/2" bridge plug. Circulate 10 Bbls. cement through CTU while POH at the Same rate as cement fill- up. when all cement has been displaced out of the coil, pull CTU above cement top. Open 9-5/8" annulus and displace 4.7 bbls down the CTU while taking annulus returns at surface. This will leave a minimum 250' cement plug in both the 4-1/2" tubing and 4-1/2" x 7" annulus. WOC. Pressure test 4-1/2" tubing and 7" x 4-1/2" annulus to ensure cement plug integrity. 7. Tag TD with wireline to confirm cement top. Cut 4-1/2" tubing at approx. 200' below ground level. Remove Christmas tree, tubing hanger and recover tubing. 8. Cut 7" circulating string at approx. 195' below ground level. Remove 7" spoo~ and recover 7" circulating string. 9. Cut 9-5/8" casing at approx. 190' below ground level. Remove 9-5/8" spool and recover 9-5/8"~ casing. 10. Set ~ermanent bridge plug in 13-3/8" casing at approx. 185' below ground level. 11. Cut 13-3/8." casing at conductor pipe and recover. 12. RU CTU and tag 13-3/8" bridge plug. Circulate permafrost cement through CTU to lay surface cement from bridge plug to within 5' of ground lewel. 13. Secure abandonment flat plate marker to the casing with the following information bead-welded to the steel plate: OPERATOR: Standard Alaska Production Company UNIT: Prudhoe Bay Unit WELL NO.: GC-1A LOCATION: 1856' EWL, 2149' NSL, Sec. 13, TllN, R13E, UPM 14.
