SUBJECT: Witness Tagging of
Cement Plu~__q~ ...... --...
Conoc~o ' s ~i~e
Wednesday.~ June..1!.6, .1982- I flew via helicopter from
Deadhorse Airport to conoco,s Milne Point B-4 this date to
witness the tagging of a cement plug.
After arriving at the location I met with Jerry Jackson,
Conoco Drilling Foreman. Jerz=~ informed me that the cal-
culated cement slurry volume covered from 2483' to 2183.'
The rig crew ran in the open ended 5' D.P. and the cement
was tagged at 2177' with 12,000 lbs of weight. The 13 3/8"
casing shoe was at 2300.'
In s~mmary I witnessed the cement plug set across the 13
3/8" casing shoe on Conoco's Milne Pt. B-4.

The B-4 well was drilled to a T.D. of 8800', then was plugged back to 8000' in prep-
aration for running an open hole DST assembly to test the Middle Kuparuk Sand. While
dressing off the top of the cement the work stri.ng was stuck in the hole at 7924',
then backed-off at 3024" The fishing attempts recovered only three joints of drill
pipe and the following assembly was left in the hole'
Bit - XO - 2 D.C. - 18 jts. H W.D.P. - Jars - 15 jts. H,W.D.P. -
116 jts. D.P. - Burn Shoe -1 jt, Washpipe. Top of fish at 3154'.
Verbal approval to abandon the well was given by Blair Wondzell at. 3:00 p.m. 6-14-82.
To abandon the well a 240' plug was set above the fish from 3119' to 2879'. Then a
cement plug was set across the surface casing shoe (shoe @ 2300') from 2483' to 2183'.
After waiting for four hours, the cement was tagged at 2187' and 10,000 lbs. was
slacked off onto the plug in the presence of an Alaska Oil and Gas Commission repre-
sentative.

I. CEMENTING PROGRAM
A. The 20" conductor has been pre-set at 80' and cemented to the surface
with permafrost cement.
B. The 13 3/8" surface casing will be cemented with 5200± sacks of perma-
frost cement. Cement will be pumped until good. Cement returns are
obtained at the surface.
C. The 7" production casing will be cemented in two stages. The primary
cementing job will consist of 500± sacks of class "G" cement pumped
around the casing shoe (estimated 2000'± of annular cement, assuming
an AHS=10"). The secondary cement job will consist of 250± BBL of
Arctic pack cement followed by 300± sacks of permafrost type "C"
cement. The second stage will be pumped through a DV collar at 2100'±
and will fill the 7" x 13 3/8" annulus.
II. ANTICIPATED GEOLOGY
0-4500'
Surface conglomerates, silt and sand sequences. Estimated
based of permafrost at 1700'±.
4500'-TD
Predominantly shale until the Kuparuk sands - expected at
7000'±.
III. FORMATION EVALUATION
A. Standard mud logging equipment to be used below the conductor.
B. Cores to be taken as determined by onsight geologist.
C. Wireline logs for the 8~" hole from T.D. to the 13 3/8" shoe will
include: Dual induction laterolog; borehole compensated sonic-
gamma ray; formation compensated density with CNL and GR-caliper.
