(MD) Pipet Use: Production Casing Bot. Log Intvl.: 9,088 Ft. (MD) Inspection Type : Corrosive and Mechanical Damage Inspection COMMENTS This caliper data is tied into the top of the perforation interval ~ 8,862 ~ (Driller's Depth). This tog was run to assess the condition of the production casing with respect to corrosive and mechanical damage, particularly on the high side of the casing, prior to CTD operations. The caliper recordings indicate oval deformations of the casing at 8,873' and 8,877', restricting the I.D. to 6.02" and 5.78" respectively. The smallest diameters recorded within these oval deformations are between the high and low side (1 o'clock and 7 o'clock) of the casing. Cross-sectional illustrations of these deformations are included in this report. The caliper recordings indicate erosion in the casing, with cross-sectional wall loss between 19% and 22% wall thickness recorded throughout the casing logged. More severe erosion is indicated in the perforation interval, where cross-sectional wall loss between 33% and 39°r6 wall thickness is recorded. The damage recorded appears to be uniformly distributed circumferentially, with little variance between maximum recorded wall penetrations and cross-sectional wall loss and no significant difference in damage to the high side than the other sides. The caliper recordings indicate slight buckling from 8,910' to 9,088' (EOL). A 3-D log plot of the caliper recordings across the production casing logged is included in this report. Conduct FCO in 7" casing down to a depth of 9100' MD. Static BHP is 2995 psi (i.e. 8.8 ppg EMV~ as of June 2008, so do not expect lost returns to be a major problem. Even so, recommend using viscous sweeps to help remove solids from the 7" casing. POOH. At the end of the job, circulate the well over to clean seawater or brine. Freeze protect top 2000' of well bore. (Note: The viscosifier used with the sweeps will contaminate the cement. Fully circulate the well clean prior to placing cement.) 4. MIRU Slickline. Tag fill. Need top of fill at 9000' or deeper prior to cementing or running caliper. If fill is tagged high, contact CTD Engineer before continuing. MU slick nozzle BHA. Use standard balldrop nozzle w/jet swirl profile and 5' stinger to CT. Pump a dart through the coil tubing to calibrate coil reel volume. 8. RIH to top of fill (9100') following CT fill cleanout operation. Fill the hole with heated seawater or KCl water 0120° to 140° F, circulating 1'/z to 2 wellbores volumes) while waiting on cement to mix. Optionally bullhead to displace wellbore fluids - if circulate the long way, be sure to stay overbalanced to not let more oil/gas enter the wellbore prior to squeezing. Hole volume at 9100' MD is ~87 bbl. (Note: The viscous sweeps used during the FCO will contaminate the cement. Fu11y circulate the well clean prior to placing cement.) 9. RU cementers. Perform infectivity test into C-sand perfs using seawater or KCl water. Limit injection pressure to 1500 psi assuming 0.70 psi/ft frac gradient. 10. Batch mix a pumpable 20 bbl of 17.0 ppg cement (i.e. 10.4 bbl capacity in the 7" casing from 8828' - 9100' MD, plus 9.6 bbl excess). Cement specs: 17.0 ppg density, thickening time of 3- 4 hours, gas-block agents, and fluid loss of 75-90 ml/30mins. Assume BHT (circulating) _ 140° F and BHT (static) = 160° F. • Ultimate target TOC 8829' at the perfs in the 3'/z" tubing tail. If the top of fill is at 9100' MD from the previous FCO, the 20 bbl of cement can conceivably go as high as 7738' MD in the 3'/z" tubing if none gets squeezed behind the perfs. • Bring pod up to weight and shear thoroughly. QC test cement. Send sample to lab for UCA testing. • Cement is cheap compared to the cost of a bad cement job. In 2007 it cost ~$350k to under-ream and re-cement well 1 C-03 from the Nordic #2 rig when that pre-rig cement plug got contaminated. Pump plenty of cement to get the job done, and make sure that the well never gets underbalanced to contaminate the cement. • Expected C sand reservoir pressure = 2995 psi = 8.8 ppg EMW (June 2008). Expected reservoir temperature 160° F (4/24/08). Adjust cement properties accordingly. Confirm temperature from previous SBHP surveys. Maintain minimum 700 psi pressure on cement after it is put in place to prevent underbalance and contamination. • Expected fracture pressure = 4550 psi (assume 0.70 psi/ft = 13.5 ppg EMW). Equates to 1700 psi at the surface with fresh water in the hole. Do not exceed fracture pressure at any time during squeeze. • Monitor annulus pressures while pumping and bleed off as necessary. Max IA & OA pressure should be 2000 psi & 1000 psi respectively. 11. Pump the following down the coil: a) water spacer for PT (do not use friction reducer, J313 will clabber cement) b) 20 bbl neat 17.0 ppg cement /(~2'^'~ February 2, 2009 Page 2 of 3 • 1C-07 Pre-CTD Sidetrack Prep c) 5-10 bbl of spacer water d) 1.5# Biozan gel for cement clean out 12. Position nozzle as deep as possible as cement reaches nozzle. Take returns and allow cement top in casing to rise 50' above nozzle before beginning pulling up hole. Verify getting 1:1 returns in 40 bbl open top tank before moving nozzle. POOH laying in cement 1:1, applying backpressure as needed to maintain max of 1:1 returns (no excess returns). 13. When the CT nozzle reaches the tubing tail at 8839' MD, close the choke and begin applying squeeze pressure while slowly moving the pipe. Stage up hesitation squeeze pressure to a target squeeze pressure of 1200 psi in 500 psi increments, holding each increment 10-15 minutes. • If we're unable to achieve at least 1000 psi squeeze ren sure will have to pump another batch of cement, so pump away remaining cement into perfs. 14. If squeeze was successful, POOH laying in remaining cement while continuing to hold squeeze pressure at the choke. Pull up 100' out of the top of cement. Maintain target pressure of 1200 psi and hold for 30 minutes while circulating at minimum rate. 15. Hold minimum 700 psi surface pressure to overbalance the formation throughout all remaining operations. Circulate 1.5# Biozan and launch ball. Chase ball to nozzle then RIH at 1:1 jetting at max rate to 8829' (target TOC). 16. Swap to 0.5# Biozan water. Jet uphole at 80% running speed and max rate, continuing to hold minimum 700 psi overbalance on the cement. Wash all GLMs, particularly the deepest GLM at 8700' MD. Freeze protect top 2000' of well bore. Thoroughly wash the tree and BOP stack. 17. Trap 700 psi at surface to maintain overbalance on partially set cement after coil leaves. RDMO coil tubing. 18. Allow cement to fully cure (72 hours or more recommended). MIRU slickline. Drift tubing, tag top of cement. RDMO slickline. The Application for Permit to Drill Kuparuk C-7 and a $100.00 check for the application fee. A diagram showing the proposed horizontal and vertical projections of the wellbore. An as-built drawing of "C" pad indicating the proposed surface location. A proximity map indicating any and all wells within 200' of the proposed wellbore. A diagram and description of the surface hole diverter system. '~ A diagram and description of the BOP equipment. In addition, it is our intention to continue our efforts to mitigate the "C" pad surface gas bubbling problem. For well C-7, these efforts include the following. · 2. 3. 4. 5. Continued use of insulated conductor and cementing technique as utilized for wells C-5 and C-6. Continued use of sub-base ventilation system as used for wells C-5 and C-6. Continued use of recording gas detector to monitor cellar gas, if any. Continued use of AS II cement for the 10-3/4" surface casing cement job. Continued effort to maintain drilling fluid temperature as low as is practical with available equipment. The above five items have proven to be effective in control- ling surface gas bubbling at wells C-5 and C-6. We trust that you will find their continued use at well C-7 to be acceptable.
